  1. "Well you and I are of the same opinion there, I can assure you of that. I can't have anyone removing someone in rule without having a person to hand the baton off to, though. That's where the problem is, really. You and the Mopag don't seem to want it, and the elves appear to be doing diddly squat to actually defend and better the city. I'll ask you again, have you made any progress with the people themselves?" Boomingham taps Alexander on the shoulder. "Hunter, perhaps you could spare me the displeasure of interrogating the green-skin?"

"You have a few minutes," he says fretfully, and steps away a few feet - out of the range of their voices, but his eyes still on them. Perhaps if Guts could speak diplomatically or intimidate other people, he'd be able to rid himself of the Lord for good, but for now this is where things stood.
  3. Guffington 3 is a far time off for a number of reasons (about a year), but this should still appeal to a number of people. More details will be coming sooner or later. EDIT: I love Avery. Do you guys not love Avery? I'll be in transit all of tomorrow and unable to post, sorry.
  4. I was not, but it serves to only better the story that is being planned.
  5. High Kingdoms: #16 (Moone), #19, #38, #64 Low Kingdoms: #62, #76 I thought there were more too. I am happy to announce that come winter, there will be a Zepher Quest that takes place in the North-most High Kingdoms. I am announcing this due to a) excitement and b) so that no one steals the area. It is imperative that it stays open for me... other people may be depending on it.
  6. "Hello, Lord Barbathan." Boomingham offers his hand in greeting. "I'm Lord Lawrence Boomingham, Slayer of Bluehood and Steerpike, King of the Lost Kingdom, and, for the time being, one of the chaps tasked with stabilizing the city. Now, I know you're all just passing through, but I'd have to assume that you've met a few of the villagers and the troops around the city. Mopag, those fur-balls, the elves. Given your professional opinion, are there any that the city might benefit from as opposed to others?" Boomingham lowers his voice hopefully, but it still carries. "I'm also keeping my eyes out for a resistance of sorts, or citizen brigade. When you can leave the power with those who live there, you should - assuming they've got heads on their shoulders and seem like they'd be able to rule."
  7. Additionally, if anyone has any questions about any of the lands of Heroica, I'm sure that pretty much every player would be happy to point you in the right direction. Certain quests take place in certain lands, so while you don't have to read every quest (or even do more than skim the pictures of a quest in the land you're interested in) I'm sure people would be happy to tell you where to look for inspiration!
  8. OoC: Nyx's three damage subtracted, Docken properly Doomed! Hybros... you actually don't have any smelling salts... Round Nineteen >Hybros looks confusedly for Smelling Salts >Hybros uses a Mulled Wine on Nyx Nyx v. Avery - Damage (58-3=55) >Docken v. Avery - Shield (Aura) >Docken v. Avery - Critical Hit ([[10*2]+31]*2=102) Hybros discovers that he has no smelling salts on him, but passes a Mulled Wine to Nyx. Sadly, the drink seems to make her woozy, and Avery darts in and stabs her in the arm, twisting the blade to allow blood to flow. Docken knocks her back with another close range and powerful bolt, but the Red Assassin will not die. "I am happy to tell you, in that case, that you are not the host of this party and have no say over which guest talks to which. I was paying you a courtesy, but seeing as I am a lord and you are not, and I am a business partner of Lord Marsh's, and you are not, I will be having a word with him. Excuse us." Henry Hinckwell grabs Marsh by the wrist and begins to pull him away. Lady Marsh whimpers, but Lord Marsh gives her a look, and then looks helplessly at Guts.
  9. Looks fantastic as always. I'll be happy to build something!
  10. Boomingham is about to speak more to the Patuqun knights when a letter poofs into the air in front of it. Confused and thinking it is Barty for a brief second, he makes a lunge at it, but finds instead that it is another lottery. He signs his name to the parchment and whispers loudly, "I've got Z-Mail."
  11. OoC: Your additional 3 damage has been added, JimBee. I'll bear it in mind for the future. Round Eighteen >Hybros uses a Pheonix Essence on Nyx >Hybros uses a Nostrum on Nyx >Nyx v. Avery - Shield ([(42*2)/2]+[42*2]=126) >Docken v. Avery - Special Damage >Docken v. Avery - Hit (41) Nyx staggers to her feet, but the blow she delivers Avery is walloping. Her standard slams into the other girls head and darkness magic explodes out of it. Avery's nose gushes blood as she picks herself up off the floor. Docken's arrow seems only a nasty after thought. "I'm accustom to enemies who stay dead once they die," the girl says through bloody spits. "I knew your past already, dear. It is your future now that I've been told about. Killing our host?! For shame." Lady Marsh gulps down the Remedy. Her body fidgets wildly, but she drones on, her eyes downcast. "It is hard for me to change my ways," she admits grudgingly, fighting every word. Lady Felix is at Guts' shoulder without warning. "You have a guest," she says wryly and with a sly smile. Guts turns in time to see and smell Lord Hinckwell Jr. approaching, stinking of wine. "Hello!" says the jolly and snooty man. "If I might steal Lord Marsh away from a private word- for a private word."
  12. "Good to know," says Boomingham, looking into his satchel. "I may return to you later. I'm assuming you aren't exactly bustling with business." He gives a faint smile and bows respectfully before turning to face his new knightly friend. "Hello, sir. I met your bearded compatriot Bur'dagger over just one building. Seemed like a decent enough chap to share a drink with." Boomingham shrugs. "He was a bit closed-lipped, though. He said you had a captain about, but didn't mention anyone by name. Is it possible that you'll direct me in the right direction? I'm hoping he has a good head on his shoulders, as all of his knights seem to, and I need someone who can inform me about the town from an outside prospective."
  13. Boomingham glances over at the green-skin and his upper lip curls. He approaches the inn-keeper. "Yes, actually. Do you have two rooms available for the evening? My companions and I have travelled a long way, and need somewhere to spend the night." Boomingham glances over to the man in blue armor. "A knight of Pataqun, I take it?"
  14. Sandy, I love when you run into the problems you gave me. Witches with a Pheles Rod. And Pandora, don't worry, I will continue to strive to kill you every way possible. How has this gem been overlooked? Along with the whole conversation?
  15. I'm running out of ways to "kill" Nyx at this point, Pandy. What is it, now? Shot in the stomach, surrounded by demons, stabbed in the stomach, and now neck punctured? Any I'm missing?
  16. Round Seventeen >Docken uses Phoenix Essence on Hybros >Hybros v. Avery - Shield (No Effect) >Hybros v. Avery - Lethal Aim (6/2=3 Damage) >Docken v. Avery - Critical Hit ([[10*2]+31]*2=102) >Nyx v. Avery - Special Damage (KO) Hybros sweeps himself off the floor, but is unable to do more than scratch the Assassin while he regains his senses and balance. Docken fires another sure arrow. Undisturbed by Nyx's threats, the Assassin buries a dagger deftly in the side of her neck before wrenching it free. Blood spills down Nyx's neck before she teeters and falls to the floor. I'd much prefer, in the future, if you took actions at a bit of a slower pace, rather than "enters dining hall, gets people, exits dining hall, locks door, threatens people with information he didn't hear". What if someone would have reacted to any of those actions? I'll let it slide this once, but from now on I'll only acknowledge the actions that could have been done in a conceivable amount of time. It's something Sandy reminds me of from time to time. Guts sweeps into the kitchens and collects the haggard and terrified Marshes, walking them out the door. Avery's eyes glance him only briefly, but they have the look of death in them. He quickly bolts the lock. Handing the glass to Everstien, he disappears over to a corner of the overcrowded room. Lady Felix stands a safe distance away. "It is just a sleeping draught," says Marsh grimly, staring at his wife with harsh eyes. "Her past profession scares her. She did not want me finding out about her returning to the Blue Assassins." "I...I didn't want to let him know about my past as a Blue Assassin," says Lady Marsh in a choked and panicked voice, seemingly fighting for words.
  17. A Good Egg [I'd have to guess from my current avatar of the very intelligent Dr. Everstien, a Were-Raven over in Heroica. Could be from a number of people, but Pandy is the only one actually in that quest, so I'd be willing to wager her.]
  18. "Can you wield a sword, little fellow?" Boomingham asks the dwarf. He then looks over at Alexander and give him a nod. "I suppose we will be seeing you sooner or later, Lady Nerwen. I'll leave the elf and dwarf's fates in your hands." Boomingham steps outside the tavern and glances over a few doors. "What do you say, Hunter? Shall we see who's in the Inn?"
  19. It is I, your friendly neighborhood Zepher, posting from the middle of the rural and beautiful state of Utah on what must be about the weakest Internet ever. In the lodge’s defense, however, I am in Utah and have Wi-Fi. If some of the formatting of this text is a little funky, that's why. I'll insert pictures for most characters tomorrow, when I have better wi-fi. It should be clear who is talking. Avery sighs sadly. "I thought Heroica had a library. I am a Red Assassin. I have no choice. I resigned myself to my fate when I said my vows. If I do not kill all who have seen me fight, I will perish the Red Death. If I do not kill all of my marks, I will also perish the Red Death. If I tell you who has hired me, I will suffer the Red Death.” The heroes watch with surprise as blood begins to trickle out her nose. She wipes it away casually and the heroes are even more shocked to see her lick it, seemingly savoring the taste. “It’s already begun. I thank you for your assistance in killing my first mark, and bringing my final mark to me,” she casts her eyes towards Lord Marsh. “I suppose I’ll have to drop him in a tavern later tonight. Perhaps a wife and husband quarrel that ended in death. As for you, Lady, I was told to not harm you if I could help it. Sadly, my oaths come before requests from my employers.” Lord Marsh stares with shock at the Assassin. He then turns to his wife unsurely and walks forward. “Darling, I’ve been told some disturbing and distressing-“ he begins, but gets no further as his wife gives out a scream. “Stay away, keep him away, everyone stay away,” she cries. He goes to her and holds her and begins to whisper soothing words in her ear. The heroes have no time to question them further as Avery pounces forward, but it seems that for at least now, Lady Marsh has been quieted. Round Sixteen >Docken unlocks Door >Hybros v. He says that the love potion is sure, but that it has been tampered with either magically or with alchemy. He doesn't recognize it beyond that, but it does more than just cause someone to fall in love.” She gives a half-hearted shrug. “Science and magic are not my games.” A very quiet yelp pierces out from the kitchen. Everstien drifts back into Guts’ view. “Perhaps it would be intelligent to lock that door again. Our friends can knock if they need to be let out.”
  20. "I respect you as a leader, dear, but I can't have you stop my every action. The dwarf can learn by example. And I'll be light."
  21. OoC: Don't you want me to get my training in as well, Chromeknight. "This is taking too long. We have places to be and people to see. Tell you what, Elfy, I'll try not to kill you. Take note, squire." Boomingham lunges at the elf from the front row with Scupperer, but is careful to not kill him. "I'm sorry, Nerwen. If you'd like the little chap to get more training, he can spare with me. But I don't think we'll be handing this city over to the elves in any case, considering the state they seem to be keeping it in."
  22. BD, JimBee, you've got to post when you come online. I see you guys lurking (or even posting in your own quests) but not in 72! People are waiting on you, and I hate keeping others behind. Besides that, I'd really like to finish this quest before I prepare to head back to college. Sorry, not trying to be a nuisance, but want to keep things chugging. If you're bored, tell me and we'll see if I can liven up the experience for you.
  23. Boomingham laughs at the elf. "Here I was hoping you were a reasonable chap." Boomingham also steps back from the combat and looks over at Alexander. "Sorry, I'll be with you in a moment, hunter." Boomingham does nothing.
  24. Out in the hallway... Nyx, Guts and Lord Marsh enter back into the Dining Hall and make their way to the door. Lady Felix makes discreet eye contact with Guts, but does nothing to interfere, and Everstien behaves much the same way, raising an eyebrow but continuing his conversation with Lord Chauncey.
  25. Oh my, it seems that Nerwen and I have gotten ourselves into quite a pickle.
