  1. Pretty fierce looking star-fighter! I like the combo of white and purple - wish it had a few more purple highlights, but I know it's a color that's pretty hard to come by! The middle wings too look a little too thin in comparison to the bulk of everything else (the little skies with silver studs on them) but it's a minor complaint! I agree that the figures look awesome, and their suits are very cool. Love the idea for the contest too!
  2. OoC: I like to play the moment - I was having fun! "I was sharing a bemused look with my friends. I'm sorry, I forgot that it may confused the stoic stone-faced heroes of Heroica." "The Lord of Light speaks through many texts and many prophets. And I have no cause but my Lord's." "I am not a fool, Nerwen. I do not plan to destroy the bridge, simply claim it for when my father returns." "Go gather the troops, David. Find men loyal to the light." Prince David nods to Raguel, makes a half-bow awkwardly to the heroes before catching himself, and then steps out of the room. Raguel turns to the heroes. "Do not think that I will be afraid to strike down the darkness." Raguel hurries out of the room too. Heweyrt turns to the heroes. "Well, sounds like we need to go to the bridge. The situation, as I see it, is not dire. I believe that he will spare Chief Byrne, and if it comes to it, the Chief can defend himself. And I doubt that David plans to keep the bridge forever, especially once his father returns - he is likely to convince David otherwise. The only worry, for the time being, is what the Orcs and King Speros will think when they see a show of force approaching. Everyone is a little... high strung, today." Are the heroes ready to depart the city?
  3. Gold for NPCs is fun. I actually give it some thought - how much gold would a character carry on them?
  4. "Nyx, that machine needs to go down. The operator seems a little more pudgy than the machine." Boomingham turns towards the Rogue Knight. "Were you sick on the day where they handed out those nifty Wolfgang badges, or what?" Boomingham attacks from the front row.
  5. OoC: I'm sorry, this is actually from a while ago, but my Tome of Affluence should have granted my ten gold at the end of the last battle!
  6. "I do not have to outfight my own men. I must make sure they believe in me enough to fight to protect their countrymen. I do not even carry a sword. Do you think that I am so easily swayed by every man who advises me. Heweyrt has himself been an 'advisor' to me, though his advice on the Nords and Orcs has clearly been woeful." Heweyrt shrugs in almost apathetic apology to David before turning to Hoke. "It wouldn't look particularly good if we slaughtered the young Prince in the Temple, and it seems like if he stays alive, he means to leave." Heweyrt smiles. "Too flicky tounged for you, probably. It is my professional opinion that... detaining a Prince from his wishes at the center of his own city is foolish. So, if he's trying to go, I say let him go." "Heweyrt, you never think it's time for a fight, he he he. I say skin him and see if the Lord of Light steps in to stop us." "I'm sure there'll be time for fighting later," Heweyrt says sharply to Gocklo, but shoots Hoke a meaningful glance.
  7. "I have suffered insult long enough. I wished to go free my father, Heweyrt and King Speros told me no. I wanted the Nords out of my city. I was told no. I am a Prince. I am a leader. How can my people respect me if I bow down to everything that moves?" Prince David stares Hoke in the eye. "You and your female Paladin seem very used to giving orders, and are surprisingly bad at receiving them. Step aside or I will call my guards."
  8. In fairness to Scuba, we do not know how it would have played out, as Pie intervened. We must respect each player and each QM - I would have handled it differently, but Pie's the QM, so in the end it is his call and I respect the choice he made as well. We may all have our own opinions, but I think that they've all been stated in this case, so once they've been stated, restating them is just bashing heads, which generally leads to headaches and little else.
  9. "That is called being taken hostage. I would not like to call my troops on you. I am only going to go welcome my father home and present to him the bridge that the Nords and Orcs have tried to claim for themselves." "The bridge should be ours. The Lord of Light has had enough bowing. We bowed to the Orcs when they took King Valentino hostage. We bowed to the Nords when they entered our city. We will not now bow to mercenaries. We are rising up, not falling lower. Move."
  10. I imagine he meant to write "King John" from Robin Hood, but I could be totally wrong - Sandy happens to know many more fairy tales than I do!
  11. "As soon as you step foot outside this temple, so will we." "Stand aside. You have no authority here. Heweyrt was hired by my father, and you are hired by him. You cannot command me." Prince David screws his lips together. His face is still pale, but his eyes are fiery now. "My people will know that we are strong. We have suffered humiliation by the Orcs and the Nords. The time for it has come to an end. The Light calls."
  12. "My- my father is returning?" "If the Orcs release him. If they haven't killed him already." The Warrior Priest snorts. "You are right, Nerwen, it does reflect poorly on his advisor, and I have been ignoring the Light's call. I was sent to the North by the Lord of Light for a reason. That reason has finally become clear. The Nords were in the city because the bridge is being built. Otherwise, we would not entertain them. It is clear that this massacre was a nudge from the Lord, spurring me to action. You say that an Orc was freed? It is clear what our course is. That bridge has stood long enough. We must claim it for his light. We must vanquish the Orcs. They gather now, I am sure, on the other side of the river. The Nords wish the bridge to be theirs, and the Orcs wish the bridge to be theirs, but we must claim it for the light. If you wish to not be viewed as weak, than act. Gather your troops. The Light that reveals everything will shine forever." Prince David steels his face. "I will assure my father's safe return. When he is freed from the Orcs who took him so viscously, he will come home to the bridge that he envisioned, and it will be in his Kingdom's name. In the Lord of Light's name." "Let us pass, heroes. There is work to be done." Heweyrt raises an eyebrow at the heroes. They stand in the path of the Prince and the Paladin, who are marching towards them, attempting to get by... what will they do?
  13. Looks like some cool side-quests! I was hoping you'd take a chance to develop some of the student NPCs - some of them have been carted off so quickly that we've hardly gotten to know them! I imagine being isolated with them for a bit of time was a fun experience! I'm sad to see Hawke go so quickly though.
  14. "From the sound of things, we'll have to if we want to keep our heads. After me, boy-o!" Boomingham plunges through the window... heroically, hopefully.
  15. Experience is not expected. There should always be the possibility of being KO'd. Otherwise there'd be no point to the battles. You guys didn't do well in the battle, that was strategy, so you don't get the experience. It happens.
  16. "Seems this whole city does." Boomingham catches the smoke bomb and wheels his arms frantically, trying to keep his balance. Once Ellaria heals them, he leads the way inside.
  17. I agree that a) QMs should not interfere unless absolutely necessary and b) it is extremely poor form to be bitter about not being revived. But things generally work themselves out. If Guts continued to abuse his power, his team mates probably would not have respected or trusted him, in character, and out of character I highly doubt he would have been asked to PL again.
  18. "Toss one up, Ogre, and I'd be extremely grateful. Haven't got any of my own. And Ellaria, a heal please first, I can hardly concentrate on keeping my balance as it is." Boomingham turns to Atramor. "What do you say, boy? Are you prepared? I say we go for it."
  19. "Look at Ellaria. It's the least she could do making us climb up like this. I was hoping to catch a few z's before we left the basement but Purple didn't seem like he was too keen on the idea."
  20. Mixed parties are even harder, and unfortunately it seems that you guys have been getting the short end of the stick.
  21. "How long have you served the Lord of Light, Nerwen? A day? It does not befit you to lecture me. I have served the Lord of Light for forty seven years and am still learning how he speaks and what actions he wishes us to take. The Lord of Light is a Lord of Shadows as well, it is true, and he is a merciful lord as well, but those who strike against his servants are not forgiven. The Chief ravaged the city. Are we to let that go? I have had enough inaction since I arrived here." Hoke, while Nerwen is being berated, finds another Nasal Helmet and 32 gold! "I can speak," says the Prince sourly, and the heroes notice for the first time that his face is pale and blood splatters his robes. "I am unharmed, thanks only to Raguel. Where were you, heroes, when the Nords were burning my city? The Nords that King Speros brought here. I was not pleased with them. I wished to strike them down, but they held the Orc who could release my father. And now they have slaughtered my men and women. I am the King. It does not suit me to be so... weak." Prince David looks at the floor. "The Light has called me time and time again, but I have ignored it. I bowed to King Speros though he was in my city. I bowed to the Nords though they showed me little respect." Prince David shoots Tesni a dirty look. "And now I must suffer an attack on my advisor." "I am sure the heroes meant no disrespect." "What have your heroes accomplished, Heweyrt? They have not protected me. They have not protected my people. They have insulted my advisor and given the Nords pardon. Who do you serve, heroes? Who do you serve, Nerwen?"
  22. Never is. Flare, it is something that we're all trying to fix pretty actively! It's just hard to figure out, it's sort of a game in it's own right discovering how to make challenging but short battles!
  23. "Well, now we just have to act fast." Boomingham turns to Atramor. "It's you or me, boy. Skrall, lift that ladder onto your back, get it as close as you can." Boomingham sips on a mead for comfort and strength and then begins to climb the ladder. Once at the top, he assesses how close he is to the window - can he reach it and haul himself up?
  24. "Not very friendly." Boomingham shrugs. "I figure we'll have to scrounge around for another ladder, unless any of you are willing to toss one Hel of a Bomb at the door. One of those particularly big boys are sure to do the trick. But, you know, we could look around a little." Boomingham glances at the man lying down. "Hey, you! Do you know if there's a ladder merchant around, or something?"
  25. "I've a different idea, especially if Elpis is looking to try the direct approach." Boomingham politely knocks on the door. "And, of course, if that doesn't work, Mlle. Nyx is more than adept at burning wood, which, coincidentally, this door seems to be made of."
