  1. Dear Guts, Curiosity killed the cat. Best wishes, ~Scheherazade
  2. OoC: Edited the results, since Hoptet's successful nurturing allowed Thormanil to attack after all. But I think this was a worse option for poor Thormy... Results of Round Five of the Hut Battle: >Cinna (Darkness) vs. Red Dawn - Spell Hoptet nurtures Thormanil - Nurture More Thothwick vs. Giant Chicken Leg (Left) - Hit Thormanil vs. Giant Chicken Leg (Right) - Special Damage >Bartholomew vs. Red Dawn - Damage Cinna's spell connects once again, taking another 19 health off of Red Dawn. Hoptet nurtures Thormanil with care, restoring him to full health and removing his stunned status. Thothwick hits the left-side chicken leg for 19 damage. The right leg kicks the recovered Thormanil again, sending him back to the state he was before Hoptet's intervention. Red Dawn tries to attack Bartholomew, but his hat scares her away (OoC: I really have to do something about that hat...). Three enemies still remain. Thormanil is stunned again. 4. Valentine Ziegfried was created for this event only, so I have no objection to you including her into your own backstory. Hope you don't feel offended if I don't answer your letter to Lyren and Nuitan. They've got a quest of their own coming up soon-ish, so I want to keep them under wraps for the time being.
  5. Maurice, I got your letter delivered to me here to the Merry Mermaid where I'm sitting at. I got fired some time ago when things started to get heated around the case of Isabeau Carpenter. I guess the faculty did not want the rumors of the night you visited spreading any further. I think the Provost knows who dunnit, he just wants to protect the reputation of his "highly esteemed academy". To hell with that nest of vipers, I say! Nowadays I'm just drinking my last paycheck away. Would be nice to get company someday. I still get suspicious looks because I'm an orc with gold in my purse. You human lot usually like to see us poor and suffering. Glad to know you're not like that, sending me this letter and all. Much appreciated, ~Jensen *drool spots* I WANT YOU!!! NOW!!! ~B Cher Monsieur AG, Merci beaucoup four ze letteur! Mon chapeau waz bought from a boutique trés elegante at ze Shopping District of Charis, ze Cité-État ma famille comes from. 6. Holy hell! "Ethereal Letters" has only been up for a few hours and already we have our first spammer! What a wonderful response this has been to my humble idea. And here I was fearing that you'd be disappointed the event wasn't a deathmatch for the prize of becoming the father of Ellaria's bastard. You guys are simply the greatest! I'm off to answer a few letters...
  7. OoC: Chick Kick does not ignore rows. It would say so if it did. The attack will cause 10 damage plus stun to anyone in the back row. Results of Round Four of the Hut Battle: >Cinna (Darkness) vs. Red Dawn - Spell Thothwick vs. Giant Chicken Leg (Right) - Damage Thormanil vs. Giant Chicken Leg (Left) - Special Damage >Bartholomew vs. Red Dawn - Critical Hit >Hoptet vs. Giant Chicken Leg (Right) - Hit Cinna casts a dark spell that hits Red Dawn for 19 damage. Thothwick is damaged by the Giant Chicken Leg on the right for 15 damage. Meanwhile, the other leg kicks Thormanil, causing 20 damage and stunning the barbarian for the next round. Bartholomew gets a good shot at Red Dawn, decreasing her health by 27 points. Hoptet also scores a hit, but only dealing 10 damage to the right-side chicken leg since he is on the back row. 8. It doesn't have to be just love letters that you send through Z-Mail. You can even send letters to NPCs that you've never met, for example asking how Noctus Shadeaux is doing. Who knows, maybe you'll get a response.
  9. ~This event is open to all players of Heroica RPG, whether or not they are on a quest. The event will run from the 14th to 29th of February, 2011, after which this topic will be closed. During this event characters can send letters to anyone within the Heroica RPG world, whether that person is another player character or NPC. Please post in-character, any questions related to this event should be asked in the Rules & Discussion -topic.~ Upon returning to Eubric from a quest that took place on an enchanted island, Ellaria Arbour was surprised by an approaching wolf. The lupine was carrying a letter with her name on it. Having no idea who had sent it to her, Ellaria opened the letter with some trepidation. Hearing about the Z-Mail offer, Ellaria decides to respond to this Leo. She was unsure how the letter would reach its destination, but she had learned to believe anything when it came to wizards and their tricks. So she grabbed a quill and a bottle of ink, and began to write. Dear Leo, I do not believe we have been formally introduced. If we have met at a passing in the Heroica Hall, I must beg forgiveness that I do not remember such an event. What you wrote me is touching, nevertheless. I might be wrong about this, but you sound very young in your letter. Surely a man of more age and experience would not be so quick to use words as strong as "love" to a lady he hasn't even met properly. I would have you know that without even meeting you I cannot respond to your feelings, although I am of course flattered by your letter. I am sorry to tell you that at the moment I am in no condition to rush into a romance with anyone. I bear a heavy burden that I do not think a man as young as you seem wishes to carry with me. I am with child, you see. Out of wedlock, conceived with hatred and blood. I pray to Sylvania every day that my child will be born hale and healthy, but I fear for the worst. I am sorry to open up to you like this, but I'm in need of a friend, not a groom. If you can accept that, I would be pleased to continue exchanging letters with you, but if you cannot, I wish all the best for you. I hope you find love in another place. Sincerely yours, ~Ellaria Arbour, a Cleric of Heroica PS. Cute wolf. With shaking hands Ellaria drops the quill, seals the letter into an envelope and utters the magic words: "I've got Z-Mail!" In a blink of an eye the envelope disappears. Ellaria lets out a long sigh. Half of her is hoping that the letter will never reach its destination, but what's done is done.
  10. Actually there are 60 male characters and 15 female characters (and Sylph), so every female character will get to pick four men to own. But the event will not include battling, questing or shopping, sorry to tell you. I'll go post it up and you shall see...
  11. I will launch the event in approximately ten hours from now. I have to go to work first. Damn you, real life!
  12. "Didn't you hear what I said? You just made the cannons malfunction by destroying the control table! Not that you uncivilized barbarians have any clue as to what I'm talking about..." "I believe I saw him resting in that room at the end of this corridor when I last did my rounds. But you'll never beat the jailor, he is one of the strongest pirates in this entire fortress. On the other hand, I'd like to see you try..." Dr. Gioconda's voice was dripping with venom and bitterness. It seemed that in the face of imminent death, she no longer cared what would happen to her.
  13. Thothwick's attack on the right-side chicken leg causes 27 damage. Red Dawn uses Morning Glory to restore herself back to full health. 14. Well, it really is up to you guys, the players. I can keep on hosting this for as long as I live - and I'm only 27 now. But it's the players that make the game. And now, a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! In celebration of this day of love and friendship, I will launch the HEROICA RPG VALENTINE'S DAY EVENT later today. Anybody can participate in it, so stay tuned... We'll have to see if the event cures the love bug or just emphasizes it.
  15. What do you mean? Can't you see the white glow surrounding him? Quest #??: Reveal the Rapist Now that would be something, eh? There's most likely going to be a bard-like job class, but it won't be a basic class.
  16. I was actually thinking of adding another line entirely, something like "~ Chose the advanced vocation of Druid on the 13th of February, 2012".
  17. "So you Heroica types are somehow more noble? You work for whoever pays the most! At least I am loyal to my mentor. Besides, you don't seem to have any idea what kind of tyrants you are serving as we speak. The Bonapartes control the waters around Uland, collecting tolls from everyone wishing to do legal business there. They are the ones taking "free" out of the Free Islands, while the Ji Pei have done nothing..." The doctor is silenced by a forceful shove by Eric. The party and their hostage walk back to the stone staircase they ascended. Down the long corridor, past the stone staircase, they see a hall with a group of pirates loudly pondering on what to do about the malfunctioning cannons. Further ahead there is another, metallic staircase, leading up and down. The hallway ends to another door that doesn't seem to be locked. If the party advances along the corridor, the group of pirates at the cannons will surely notice them.
  18. Do you guys think the Gallery should mention all the advanced classes that the character has tried out? I did not intend to do it in fear of having to update the info all the time, but on the other hand I have to do it anyway with all the quest-related information, so its up to you guys.
  19. OoC: Where did you guys get the idea that Hoptet could heal several people in one turn (aside from rolling a Shield)? It works like that outside of battles because there are no turns then. Results of Round Two of the Hut Battle: >Hoptet nurtures Cinna - Shield (Roots of Life) >Cinna (Darkness) vs. Bright Day - Spell Thothwick vs. Giant Chicken Leg (Right) - Hit >Thormanil vs. Red Dawn - Damage >Bartholomew vs. Giant Chicken Leg (Left) - Hit Seeing his new companions in trouble, Hoptet calls forth the roots of life to restore up to 20 health to everyone. Cinna's spell of darkness connects with Bright Day, dealing 38 damage at the cost of one ether. Thothwick hits the right-side chicken leg for 19 damage. Thormanil is attacked by Red Dawn and suffers the loss of 7 health. Bartholomew shoots the giant chicken leg on the left for 22 damage. All enemies still remain. Any enemy not targeted will get a Free Hit on the party after everyone have acted.
  20. "Scum?! Me?! I have studied under the great Vincent Legonardo himself, and the only reason I am in this stinking hellhole is because of my devotion to monsignore. And did you not pay attention to what I said? Monsignore is in a meeting with Jolly Roger right now, so if you want to find either of them you have to go through that door. I really hope you get the password wrong so the lasers will disintegrate you all into particles..." Eric tightens his grasp on Dr. Gioconda, making her wince in pain.
  21. Well, Tarn blew his chances with Ellaria by ignoring her over Tesni, and I'm pretty sure Ellaria has only met Leo in the passing (plus he is awfully young to become the father of her unborn child). Who knows, maybe Ellaria will seduce both Alexis and Tesni and form a sapphic coven to look after her infant.
  22. The female scientist shivered in Eric's grasp. "W-what are you going to do with me? I promise I'll keep my mouth shut about your presence if you just let me go and return to my work..."
  23. The party decides to check the corridor where the automata and Dr. Gioconda had come from, but found nothing but a small storage room where they must've kept the metallic men. The door at the end lead back to the long hallway with the laboratories, the dorm and the large door that required a password to open. Where would the party head next? Back towards the stone staircase, or forward to the wooden staircase leading up? Or perhaps somewhere else?
  24. Dr. Gioconda froze as she felt Eric's blade on her throat. Tears swelled up her eyes. "Y-you're intruders, aren't you? Spies of Admiral Bonaparte... I've been such a blind fool. T-there is only one prisoner that I know of here, a strange fellow locked in a cell downstairs. You'll need to find the jailer and make him give you the keys in order to reach him, though. Monsignore Legonardo is visiting Jolly Roger currently, so he is behind the door you wish to breach. I swear I do not know the password, but I do know that if you get it wrong the defensive system in the door will scorch you. Jolly Roger made it significantly clear that he did not want the door to be connected to that control panel like the automata and the cannons were. Please, I don't know anything else... Don't kill me..."
  25. Ellaria did not know what she could say to her friend. What she felt right now was a mixture of shame and fear for the future, but would the elf be open to listen to her worries now that they were still stuck on the enchanted island? "I... I'm fine... It's just that all this battling and scarce nutrition is taking its toll on me. I'm sure everything will be alright once we get back to Eubric... if we get back, that is." Ellaria gave Alexis an assuring smile, but she didn't know how well she could hide the fact that her worst nightmare had come true. It's been half a year since she fled Tumpkin Village, her dress torn and blood trickling between her legs. Sylvania's guidance saved her then and led her to the Free Islands, but this proved that the cleric had not been able to run away from her past. What goes around comes around... Escorted by the elven ranger, Ellaria returned to the group.
