  1. QM Note: I'll continue the battle now so that you guys can get to your quest on time. Also, I'm still undecided whether a hit from the Cat-o'-Nine-Tails nullifies free hits or not. I've played it so that it does, but it makes the weapon really powerful... Results of Round Four of the Butterfly Plains battle: Tesni vs. Mad Cow - Defended Damage (Tesni: 35 health+11 SP-20 dmg=26 health) Tesni vs. Mad Cow - Extra Critical Furious Hit (Mad Cow: 68 health-(58x4=232 dmg)=0 health) >Alexis (Ice) vs. Mutterfly A - Damage (Alexis: 5 health+3 SP-(7/2=4 dmg)=4 health) >Alexis (Ice) vs. Mutterfly B - Spell Aim (Mutterfly B: 13 health-(10x4=40 dmg)=0 health; Alexis: -1 ether) Jess vs. Mutterfly C - Lethal Hit (Divided dmg: 64/3; Mutterfly C: sudden death; Splatterfly A: 28 health-21 dmg=7 health; Mutterfly A: 13 health-21 dmg=0 health) Jess vs. Mutterfly C - Shield (Gold Reaper - Jess: +9 gold) The Mad Cow charges at Tesni, dealing 9 damage, but Tesni responds by crushing the bovine beast's skull with her mighty hammer. One Mutterfly manages to shave 1 health from Alexis, but the Evoker takes out another Mutterfly with a small ice-spell. Jess's whip instantly kills both remaining Mutterflies, and causes 21 damage to the Splatterfly. She then attempts to kill it with her Gold Reaper, but only gets 9 gold for the effort. Only one enemy remains. 2. Ahem, a skeleton broomstick. Why can't horse be just a horse? How can one even equip it?! Or carry it around in dungeons and such places? I can understand the Cat and Dog Statuettes - the Dark Elf Drizzt Do'Urden kept his pet panther conveniently in a statue, as well - but living animals as an artefact is stretching it too far. Fabian will adamantly refuse to buy it, anyway.
  3. Fabian is flabbergasted by the barbarian's offers. Where was the man's manners, bringing a horse to his fine establishment? "Well, this robe is certainly not worth what you offer from it. I'll give you 20 gold for it. As for the horse, please find a stable for it. I have no room for such a creature in my boutique." OoC: Alright, who made a horse an artefact?! That defies all logic and reason.
  4. Nyx's brashness makes Ellaria blush. "Oh, I'm sorry! My mind was preoccupied back then. I do remember seeing you around as well. I am Ellaria Arbour, Sylvania's druid. Nice to finally meet you face to face, Nyx. I promise to do my best to keep you all hale and healthy." Ellaria then turns to the sweating watchman. "Excuse me, will we be able to speak directly to Captain Patricia? I have something I wish to ask her."
  5. Fabian smiles sweetly as he examines the pink handbag. "It looks lovely, Miss Mage, but I fear it bears no interest to my clientele. It is just a bag, albeit a pretty one, after all." Fabian gives the bag back, spreading his arms apologetically.

Tesni attacks the Mad Cow twice, causing a total of 192 damage, but suffering a loss of 9 health in the process. The splatterfly tries the Butterfly Effect on Alexis twice more, but to no avail. Jess gets a good hit on all enemies, but fails to assassinate any of them. The Mad Cow and all the Mutterflies suffer 13 damage, while the Splatterfly gets 12 damage. 8. OoC: Everything is correct. There she was, on a quest again. Ellaria arrived to the meeting point after Atramor. She knew him from having been on a few quests together, but unlike Alexis, Althior, Tarn and Tesni, she had not become friends with the rogue. Trying to whip up a smile on her face, she greeted Atramor. "How nice to see you again, Atramor. And you too, McCafferey. How have you been?" Ellaria felt sickened by the hollowness of her words, but she could not let her inner turmoil show to the others. Otherwise she would certainly be kicked out of the quest. But she couldn't just lay in bed and do nothing while Elpis was out there somewhere. This was something she needed to do.

  10. But Violetta could only steal artefacts, and very few artefacts inflict their owner with negative effects. All positive effects ("lucky" now included) can be applied to enemies. Effects such as "petrified", "fast asleep", "bound", "afraid", "slowed" and "jinxed" cannot be applied to enemies (at least not in the moment).
  11. Here's the result of the "At Least One Damage"-rule voting: YAY: 9 (Brickdoctor, Zepher, JimButcher, Flipz, Scubacarrot, Endgame, Vash the Stampede, Pandora, Jebediahs) NAY: 17 (CallMePie, The_Customizer, Quarryman, VolcanicPanik, Peppermint_M, Capt.JohnPaul, darkdragon, Waterbrick Down, Jedi master Brick, K_Nut, Scubacarrot, Scorpiox, Palathadric, Rumble Strike, Kadabra, Xarrzan, Myrddyn) The verdict is clear: the "ALOD"-rule will not be implemented into the game. Due to this public demand, it must not be used by any Quest Master anymore. You just have to find some other ways to get around high SP. Inventing an effect that forces people to fight in the front row (opposite of "afraid") could be a start. Not all effects can be applied to enemies. But as for "Lucky", it could very well work like that ("jinxing" the hero who targets it for that turn). Yes, artefacts permanently sold by Fabian can be sold for half of their value automatically. And an answer to an older question: only artefacts can be haggled with Fabian. He will not buy any other type of items.
  12. Greetings, everyone! I hope everyone has fun on this bright and sunny day in our pleasant Winter Haven. There simply is no better place to live in! It is I, Brigit Bunny, your resident florist-come-first-wife. I used to spend my days arranging bouquets for my customers, now I spend my days arranging bouquets for myself. I really prefer narcisses, they go so well with the interior design of the mayoral house... Oh, and my blouse, too! Hey, remember that time we all died and came back? Wasn't that a fun turn of events? I met my dear Laszlo during that time. How gorgeous he was, all transparent and ethereal...
  13. I can agree to that, if the Plaything's are the only weapons allowed to change type to suit the Expert Classes. No other QM can create such weapons, and even Zepher should keep their amount limited.

  15. Let the lobbying begin...
  16. Alright, since the debate is still going on, let's put it to a vote. All in favor of the "At Least One Damage"-rule, say YAY. All against it say NAY. You have exactly 24 hours to vote. In the extreme case of a tie, my vote will decide.
  17. Stop picking up a fight, please. If you're irritated, go punch a wall or something.
  18. Well, where's the balance? Now I hear complains that knights are too powerful, but without SP upgrades they would be too weak. Help me out here! I think I can agree to the "minimum of 1 damage" if it's universal - all classes would always get at least 1 damage from enemy attacks (unless the enemy is blinded or Sentinel is in effect... see, I'm already making exceptions to this rule as well! ). Would this be a fair solution? Thanks! This is exactly why I started making the result tallies visible. I just can't trust myself to take everything needed into account anymore, so I need the players to point out any possible mistakes or omissions.
  19. I've played it so that they take effect immediately (because again, that's the most logical choice). I do agree that the wording for the effects is misleading, since it says "next three rounds", but the round it is implemented is one of those three. As for the problem with high SP, I'm leaning more and more towards banning SP upgrades altogether (including using Mythril and the Mystic Knight's enhancement on shields). Otherwise the game will lead to a point where a player is slaughtered if he doesn't have SP. It won't solve the issue with Docken, but it would at least prevent it from getting worse. Any objections? From a quest host's perspective, I still can't accept a rule that lower level enemies could automatically pierce SP, because that's the whole point of Shield Points in the first place - you get protection from low-level monsters.

Sylph summons up the roots of life, but it has no effect as the party is already at full health. Nur dodges the bear's strik again and counters with one of his own, dealing another 12 damage. Dak sacrifices 5 health to deliver 40 damage to the bear. The enemy is still blinded for the next turn. Sylph blinds the hungry bear, making it unable to attack physically for three rounds. Dak's magical handbag makes him immune to blinded. The black knight then scores a good hit on the bear, dealing 35 damage. The bear tries to attack Johon, but misses due to its blindness. 22. I don't like it because it defies logic. How can one player have 3 Shield Points against a Level 10 enemy, but only 2 Shield Points against a Level 1 enemy? And as a QM, it adds one more thing to remember to take into account (and battle results have already turned to be a real pain to tally, in comparison to when this game started). And like someone said, if someone has spent a wealth of gold on SP, he deserves to reap the benefits. One possible solution would be that shields could no longer be upgradable at a blacksmith's, preventing anyone from gaining too much SP, but does anyone really want that?

  24. I simply use grey to avoid turning the stats to complete rainbows. But it's each to their liking, really. About that SP rule discussed earlier, I don't really like it if QMs alter with the basic rules of this game without consulting with me first. This is a really minor issue, but in my opinion players shouldn't have to guess if their SP is going to work or not. Sometimes it might just come down to that 1 point of health... So please stop using this "attacks always cause a minimum of 1 damage" rule, because that's not in the official rules (and in my opinion shouldn't be either). Just make your enemies stronger, or have them pierce SP.
  25. Byblos was pleased that Arthur had come to his aid. It had been a long time since anyone visited the Library. He had gone out to get some bananas drinks with Hoptet and Scaro a few times, but the two champions did not seem interested in his endless supply of inconsequential trivia. And Byblos was not interested about their tales of monsters and bloodshed, either. But Arthur seemed different from most other champions. He actually cared what was inside the books, and was always eager to learn more and share what he had learned. Byblos even said to Arthur that if he ever got bored to being a hero, he'd make a great teacher. Working on the chronicles of the quests in Dastan reminded Byblos of a map he had thus far neglected to put on display. He got up and carried the heavy scroll onto the table on top of the books, and rolled it open. "What do you think?" he asked Arthur, beaming. OoC: The map is courtesy of the Dastan QMs - Brickdoctor, JimButcher and Zepher, thank you ever so much - and it's an honor to add it among my maps to the first page of this topic. Please note that only the largest cities in the region are mentioned in the map, since it's a huge area with countless places unmentioned in the map. Anyone can help fill up the blank spots in future quests.
