  1. Look on the bright side... maybe there's a chance they'll be released in a far less expensive set next summer? I'm glad to see the Alien Conquest gun make its way into SW minifigure weaponry... it may not be the most successful rendition of Boba's rifle, but it's interesting. It had been getting a little boring with SW weapons lately; soooooo many small pistols! I wouldn't have minded if they'd kept throwing the DC-17 pistols into the mix occasionally, but even the Phase 2 Rex in the BARC Speeder w/ Sidecar set didn't get DC-17s--his pistols shouldn't have scopes! In the new Cantina set, Han & Greedo face off with the same gun... Greedo sporting a DC-17 would've better represented his scope-less blaster from the movie, and set them apart. I rather expect an eventual Zuckuss to sport a black AC gun with black binoculars for his rifle; it seems the perfect use for it!
  2. To answer the question: yes. Licensing issues re: "action figures" aside (which need to just die; Lego minifigures aren't gonna hurt Hasbro's bottom line, they're doing plenty of damage themselves with poor character choices, poor distribution, and various other questionable decisions), there is loads of potential for CMFs from SW or Superheroes (of either company)... multiple waves of them, which I'd love to see provided they run alongside regular CMFs rather than delaying regular CMFs like TLM & The Simpsons did. Metal Men, various Teen Titans, loads of Leaguers & JSA members--plenty of DC potential right there without even touching villains! Marvel's missing a ton of X-Men still, and FF, various Spidey guises, dozens of Avengers, cosmic heroes, 2008 Guardians, 31st century Guardians, loads of villains... again, plenty of fodder for many waves (as they're unlikely to get to even half of them given another 10 years of the license). Star Wars, kinda the same thing; even basing it on the classic Kenner figures, there are some notable holes TLG hasn't addressed like Zuckuss and 4-LOM, plus many characters (and updates) that Hasbro's repeatedly provided... and then when you get into the EU, which they may still be able to mine if Darth Revan and the Shadowtrooper set (if the latter isn't Rebels-related) is any indication, there are even more to choose from. LOTR likewise has a couple waves of figures still in it easily, too, if there won't be any new sets.
  3. Cool! I was a bit concerned it'd be too big for minifigs despite the report that Boba fits in the cockpit (R2 fits in the Red Five X-wing, after all), but seeing these pics it looks really, really nice. Thanks for the pics, just2good! I don't understand your meaning here... looks fine to me. Do you mean the 'missing' part of the ship behind the wing on the box art? I think that's just a design choice they made in building it, whether or not it's accurate to the film model/design.
  4. I got a couple of those, but it winds up covering so much of the face print! Most minifig mouths are obliterated by that noseguard.
  5. The minotaur isn't running away from anyone... that's his comrade with a sword raised behind him! Very cool piece, I love the ruined look of the building, all the little details in it... great posing and characters, too! Nice use of the Furty head and torso (I love Furty's torso, there are too few "leather/cloth"-type torsos of there; I've got 5 Furty torsos on various figures now)
  6. Was the Toy Biz line very incomplete? I remember being fairly pleased with the selection, if not the quality. So many of the FOTR entries suffered from dopey action features and were generally crap, but I thought most (if not all) were revisited with much-improved figures before it ended... At least we got a proper Witch King, Dernhelm Eowyn, Rohan Merry, Gondor Pippin, Faramir, Gondor soldiers, etc
  7. That's mostly lighting. Every pic of his torso has it at least partly shaded, enough to make the white "off-white" and the printed yellow "off-yellow". Anyhoo, great review! I'm not a big fan of how cloth skirts sit on figures (they tend to gap), but I appreciate the effort... Wish the Battle Goddess' covered her bikini a little better. The Hun looks amazing! Even without the horns he looks pretty good, better than the Vikings look without their horns (the fur brim and the backing help offset the empty holes). Love the Princess' alt expression, wish some others had alts as well (especially the Genie). Really wish the Hun and Gamer were swapped in quantity...
  8. Looking at those pics, I'm not sure there's anything to be read into there. The Senate Chamber image (whether is meant to be the Chancellor's podium or a Senate pod) is fairly basic--nice, but not exactly difficult to whip up. The Bespin stuff is a mix... The carbon freeze steps are interesting, but I think the background metalwork includes some "illegal" techniques you'd never find in an actual set. The bit where Vader springs the news on Luke looks VERY nice, but again I'm not sure it's unreasonable to throw such a "set" together for artwork only... Luke also looks too monochromatic with his hair and outfit matching color there. Might pass the publication guidelines, but hopefully when the time comes for an actual TLG minifigure they'll note the Ewok Village change to dark tan hair
  9. Didn't Juniors only recently start doing licensed sets? While we had Batman and TMNT this year, maybe next year we'll see other licensed represented?
  10. That was more a case of Hasbro finding an excuse for re-releasing a mold from the 2003/2004 Clone Wars line, not creating something new aside from packaging. Re: the Shadowtroopers, if it is indeed Legends, that gives me some hope. It'd be nice to see the occasional Legends-inspired set, despite the ever-present argument of "kids won't understand". Kids won't really care. Plenty of kids confuse Anakin and Luke all the time, or Leia and Padme. If they saw a set with a couple Maul-tattooed minifigs with red sabers fighting some red-and-black-armored Imperial Knights with clear saber blades along with some bounty-hunter-looking dude named Skywalker, they'd still go for it. Kyle Katarn in his ship fighting some stormies with some bulkier Galaxy-Patrol-armored dark-bley stormies? They'd dig that. It's Star Wars!
  11. Since that's more of a "hope" I figured I'd respond to it here... That's a nice idea! A Legends Beast-style Boga could be fun to see, perhaps with a molded head (tho maybe modifiable, for a greater chance of it being reused in other themes, like as a smaller dragon head with horns attached perhaps; might not be possible due to licensing issues, but a nice idea maybe). I like the molded SW animals, but they are rather limited like most molded animals... OTOH, brick-built Bogas, banthas, dewbacks, etc would likely increase the part-count quite a bit. Throw in Cody with the Palpatine hologram piece and maybe a couple battle droids or clones, you've got what could be the next Battle of Saleucami set.
  12. True... And I'm still holding onto some hope that KOTOR/TOR will become canon again. Very little in it would interfere with anything from the movies/shows, and the only Yuuzhan Vong reference was so obscure & vague that it could easily be a loose plot thread that may have amounted to nothing, of been resolved anytime in the time between KOTOR & TOR or TOR & TPM. In ROTS, Anakin flies two different Eta-2 JSFs, but both were released in the last few years... Perhaps it'll be a TCW-style Delta in yellow and maybe the Plo/Azure Angel blue? That'd make more sense than bringing up the Microseries again.
  13. From the Microseries, yes. It's the only source that makes sense, given the name... It's just an incredible bizarre choice.
  14. I forgot about the fairly-recent Gungan soldiers (which accompanied yet another Jar Jar in the Battle of Naboo set!)... gonna still hope it's Tarpals, because nobody needs that many Jar Jars. Not even Ahmed Best.
  15. ...and even if it were Tatooine, I'm sure we wouldn't see Tuskens and Jawas without masks/hoods on. It's too "fanboy" to expect to see that. Besides, fanboys already know some of the "truth" from KOTOR and other (now-Legends) sources: Tuskens were a very human-like species before the Rakata turned Tatooine into a desert, and their culture adapted to the new climate, while Jawas are rodent-like and covered in surprisingly-docile bugs. Besides, after revisiting Tatooine substantially in ROTJ, TPM, and AOTC, those two species were never "revealed", even in a Tusken village, so why explain it now? There's so much NEW to see! Two battle droids and Jar Jar is rather disappointing Jar Jar is the least visually interesting Gungan, and was just in 9499! Boss Nass, Captain Tarpals, or a regular warrior would be so much nicer. Maybe the Jar Jar in the catalog was just a placeholder?
  16. To answer your questions in order: Yes (as with Chima, it may just be a printed version of the 'mask' head), no, and no. The Tuskens aren't worth spending more film-time developing, much like Tatooine itself. There's still a big galaxy left to explore out there. New comics and books might be able to delve into Tuskens, even if they wind up similar to the Legends EU depiction of them, but it's pointless to wish for them in VII. Savage beings who speak in grunts & honks... Not very compelling entertainment. Still, it'd be nice if one AND a bantha were in the T-16 set...
  17. Ewok... Sandcrawler?! But seriously, good list!
  18. I thought the Imp pilot of the SD was a good choice; jumpsuit body, a visible use of one of the Death Star Gunner heads, black cap... If not for the headset, this guy would be perfect to army-build in an Emperor's Arrival scene for ROTJ. I tend to think of the black jumpsuit Imp "officers" as TIE pilots without their helms and harnesses on, since they don't do much else in the movies. Also Theron Nett was great; annoying that they updated the orange-suit pilot body again, maybe, but looks fantastic, and a great generic pilot head. I already turned my spare into a better Luke, tho he'll become Wedge one I've got the new Snowspeeder set.
  19. If it's really a Microseries-based set, it probably would be R4-P22 instead of R2-D2. I'd think they'd make sets based on TCW Season 6 rather than going back so far for a ship that is just too busy
  20. Not likely. Rumors and official leaks indicate there's still an Imperial presence in this 30-years-later era, maybe even still in control of the galaxy. If that's the case, there wouldn't be a Senate as it was disbanded in EpIV. In the power struggle that would likely occur following ROTJ's illusion of a happy ending, I doubt the Empire would reinstitute the Senate... If they did, they'd likely gain a whole lot of anti-Imperial senators unless they rigged the elections. Everyone was celebrating the Emperor's death in ROTJ; without the fear represented by Palpatine and Vader, it'd be pretty tough to get everyone back in line. Two battle droids... One with a bit of paint on it. So disappointing.
  21. All the more reason to support BrickFortress, whose sole product is still articulated short legs! I could see tall dwarves being fine in a build where it's all short races, like a battle between dwarves and Shraliek or something... but being as tall as humans, elves, orcs just feels weird.
  22. Wow, no wonder all the BrickLink shops are out of mortar bricks (j/k) Impressive... Most impressive.
  23. Gotta make myself a Wuher and Tholme based on these, I think! Also love seeing a Winter. Old Anakin Skywalker looks terrific, and I love that helmet for Klaatu!
  24. The retcon was giving a story reason--he was undercover--for why Qui-Gon simply didn't ask for his assistance while they were on Tatooine. I know, 10,000 Jedi, Qui-Gon may not have recognized him... but, the Force, y'know? Also, Quinlan was shown to have known Obi-Wan for years, so odds are Qui-Gon would know him due to that if nothing else.
  25. Not just art; Hasbro made at least one (possibly for the Transformer Crossover and Titanium lines, too). It's possible Vader could still be using such a ship as of 14 years post-ROTS as the TIE Advanced is still in the prototype stage and Vader might still be attached to his old ship... but the Azure Angel should have no place in Rebels... but seems an extremely odd choice otherwise. TCW is likely done for now, and there are already a bunch of AOTC and ROTS sets in the roster over the last year or so... why would they delve into the Microseries now? Why not do up more TOR, or a set to accompany Darth Revan? Or a Cloud Car, more Rebels sets, or just about anything else? Any "Anakin" starfighter set is all but guaranteed to have Anakin and R2, and we just had one earlier this year, with another not long before it. Kinda boring, even if the Anakin is kinda different. An AA set might include the red-domed astromech instead of R2, and like the Vulture Droid, Tri-Fighter, and many other starfighters could include anyone else they want (a Microseries version of Ventress, perhaps)... Can't muster much excitement for it, tho. Sad to hear a Senate Commandos set was canceled... I only have the two from the Cad Bane speeder set; getting four more to go with them would've been nice (if they were in the same style, anyway)
