I've got an MOC I've been waiting to post for about a month... I'll hopefully get to it tonight, but it takes TIME to post a bunch of pics. Uploading them to Flickr, copying the URLs to embed manageable pics in the post, then hotlinking those images to the Flickr page so we can see larger versions (if applicable)... it takes time! Now, with The Lego Movie, there's only 3 sets to do. DC's got, what, 5? Sinestro, Gorilla Grodd, Darkseid, Brainiac, Black Manta... Star Wars has a ton... etc. Just2good's got other stuff to do!

What wingtips are you talking about? The blue ones in the front? There's no discrepancy. The flat side should be forward, angled side backward... It's that way in box art, the instructions, and the film.

Sure, play around in LDD and/or Google "death star II MOC" and see what pops up -
I like the OT more, too, but TCW was awesome. Ahsoka's annoying nicknames (R-tooey, Sky-guy) fade pretty quickly. I think they're all gone by Season 3, or at least increasingly rare... even Season 2 didn't have many that I recall. I just got A New Dawn, so I'm resisting the online premiere until I can finish the book (or next Friday's premiere, whichever comes first). Interesting in the opening chapters, Kanan's hair & beard are said to be black, so TLG's first attempt is canon, from a certain POV Itching to see new pics of the sets...

We might see some stealth additions to the Cantina, like the Ithorian Jedi in the Jedi Scout Fighter being pretty much Momaw Nadon in all but name and accessory, and even the astromech in that set filling the tiny R2-B1 hole in our Lego SW minifig collections If Lothal is one of the twelve systems Doc Evazan has a death sentence in, maybe he and his buddy Ponda will appear a scene with that Devaronian the Ghost crew sometimes do jobs for... One that might merit a Lego set (in that the scene goes wrong for the Cantina Duo, resulting in a new death sentence for the bad doctor) As for Wuher, HJR-Holland made a nice easy one here that should do the trick for now...

It should fit over both styles of Fantasy dwarf beards as well, and Gandalf's, and the old wizards beard, and CMF Santa, and Wiley Fusebot's. The old wizard beard rises up a bit higher, so--judging by Gimli's helmet, it may not fit COMPLETELY snuggly, but enough that it's attached to the stud.

REVIEW: The Battle of the Five Armies
Venkefedo replied to ZCerberus's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I don't mind the translucent axes (tho I hope they're explained a little in the film), as they can easily be paired with matching translucent bars (or any other bars) to become enchanted axes, crystal axes, etc... one of my dwarves is sporting an ice-axe with the translucent blue axe heads & a Luke saber blade. Those tan arches look like they'd be useful in many MOCs, particularly Elven (Rivendell or not). Price seems high, so I'll probably wait for a decent sale (especially if I pick up an extra copy)... Great review! -
It's this part

I had the same reaction to Omurtag and Amortug. Very nice Phase II! I'd love to see the other side (is it a wooden fence/wall adjoining a path/steps up to the tower?). I gotta remember to post my Phase II tower this weekend (finished it & shot it about a month ago) and get to work on the next one!

More fun additions! I love that Dragon's Lair set, and the hoard of gold that's reasonably substantial (Isla de Muerta from POTC and The Lonely Mountain don't quite seem to have enough gold, or at least not concentrated enough in one spot). My only bit of critique about Radgha Rising is that both zombies have identical half-clad legs... if one had bare legs and the other had a single boot, that might make for a better 'look' (or one with 2 boots, the other with only one). Then again, Lego tends to favor right legs & arms only for a lot of their pirates & cyborgs with "different" limbs (the translucent left arms of Jek-14 and the Chima ice tribes being some notable exceptions), so having a pair of skeleton zombies each sporting a right boot kinda is in keeping with Lego patterns. I wish this were a real theme... lot of fun stuff going on in it! And I like how, as with Chima, former enemies seem to be working together against a common foe.

That's a throwback to the old concept art (and even the Kenner/Hasbro toys, until about a decade ago). Like the stormtroopers in the show, I don't think it's intended to say "this is a different in-universe production model of the TIE fighter, and sometime in the next 5 years the Imps will have the manufacturer enlarge the side panels", just a stylistic nod. I would hope Lego just reuses the 9492 model (possibly with minor detailing/decorative tweaks) if they ever release a 'regular' TIE from the show. If you've got a chance to pick up this set and the price isn't ridiculous, do it, just in case TLG does make a small-wing TIE for Rebels.

Seriously, tho... lost Greco-Roman dwarven city. Get building! Maybe it's overrun by Drow! Or crazy creatures akin to some of the stuff we saw in the Mount-Up minichallenge!

EDIT: yikes, no idea how my message got so malformed and truncated... trying to salvage it below By next summer there should be at least a couple teasers and a full preview, likely enough known to populate a few sets pre-release... the situations may not be entirely accurate because SPOILERS!, but lots of sets we get don't exactly spell out entire stories... the Droid Tri-Fighter has Chancellor Palpatine despite being a droid ship not meant for living passengers & not at all the Invisible Hand, the Vulture Droid has a Neimoidian Warrior who we only saw on Mustafar (where no Vultures seemed to be)... I kinda expect an Episode VII presence akin to Rebels in this summer's wave, a couple sets. The Falcon might be premature, but there are new-style (old Z-95-style) X-wings galore to choose from, and whatever other neat things we might see in the previews... throw in a handful of characters, and it's something--not enough to puzzle out the entire story & potentially "ruin" Abrams' Mystery Box of the film, but enough to whet our appetites and have some VII builds ready to go when Winter 2016 (or Late Fall 2015 in December) delivers even more VII sets.

Some... the canopy assembly looks a lot smoother on the newest. The rear cannon mounting/flap assembly is very different, and the 'middle' part of the cannons are fatter now, using the 'ridged' 2x2 round bricks and R5-D4-type 'heads' rather than technic pieces. But most of the front looks very much the same aside from deco/colors, as to be expected in a Luke-vs-non-Luke snowspeeder. EDIT: I'm just judging by pictures; you can download the instructions & compare them step by step, piece by piece for a better understanding of the differences -

The newer set looks really nice, and the pilots have great (some might say too much) detailing... and the Wampa & Hoth Luke are great figures, too, so just BLing them after getting the new set might be the best option... ...or you could always get the Wampa set and then the Advent Calendar, which is like getting Dak--just with a basic generic pilot head instead of one with more personality & dual-expressions, and then BL a new helmet to make Zev into an older-style Snowspeeder Wedge or Hobbie -
Does watching a Star Wars film inspire you to buy Lego?
Venkefedo replied to RednWhite's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Order it now! The Episode VII one will undoubtedly have a different build... and one important visual change (a rectangular, albeit possibly curved, radar array instead of the round one lost in the Death Star II attack), in addition to having EpVII figures (which may be cool) Watching any SW film (or cartoon) makes me want toys of various characters or ships, not strictly Lego... but I imagine VII will have me drooling over several sets. I really wanna build an EpVII X-wing to compare to my 2012 X-wing and TCW Z-95 Headhunter (and we know there's potential for at least a few X-wing releases, between the blue-trimmed one, the black one with "Red 3"-ish markings on the wings (kinda hopeful that's a Rogue Squadron X-wing), and whatever else was in those drone-obtained photos. -
Nice! Can't wait to use those hairpieces on some Fantasy greenies

It was in relation to the 2015 Microfighter AT-AT possibly having those levers, so it seems relevant enough...as well as already at an end!

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Venkefedo replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
White. Lots and lots of white. Mitgardia may be known for snowy mountains, but there's all kinds of terrain & climate. A bunch of us love dark tan bricks & plates as a basic 'ground' color... dark & light bleys make for good rocky mountainsides and rustic castles & fortresses. Dark brown anything is pretty wonderful, and you can never have too many barrels full of ale, mead, etc on those cold winter nights in the north. But there are temperate areas, too. I guess that's more "colors" more than pieces... um... lots of slopes, tiles, castle-y stuff, etc? And some green & yellow bits and/or flags to mark a build as Mitgardian (tho I think it's only a 'requirement' in certain cases, if that). And a whole mountain of dwarves. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Venkefedo replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
It's just like any other series... look at the pics, then feel for the accessories. A dress-slope narrows it down the Princess or the Wizard; if there's hair attached to the hat, Princess. If the hat bends at the point, Wizard. The frog, the telescope, both identifying accessories. Long ponytail hair means Genie Girl or Dino Tracker; feel for the tail, legs, bow, lamp to narrow it down further. Crooked hat & tiles, Jester. Regular-seeming hair & tile, Gamer. Pickax with big flat bent-brimmed hat, Prospector. Rapier with big flat bent-brimmed hat, Swashbuckler. Spear or crested helmet with hair, Battle Goddess. Binoculars & floaty-thing, Lifeguard. Guitar, Rock Star. Apple & an eared helmet, Piggy Guy. Shield, longsword, weird helmet, two little bent items, Hun. Long straight hair & teddy bear, Spooky Girl. 2x2 square tile & 2x2 round tile (and baseball cap), Pizza Guy. Helmet, big clunky armor, little straight 'horn', Space Miner.- 1,109 replies

A closer look at Emmets apartment building
Venkefedo replied to Super Goblin's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Emmet's apartment is much like the house he drives thru in the Supercycle, and the TARDIS: bigger on the inside! -
The angled part of the little wing-flaps should be in the back, the straight edge should face front; it's that way in the movie and the instructions

Kaliphlin has more than just deserts, you know; go read the Guild threads, and...I think there's a landscapes of Historica thread, too? They should mention the various environments that can be found there. If the surface bores you, tho, make like the dwarves and move underground! Maybe you can find a lost civilization beneath Kaliphlin, full of the Classical architecture expected from the southern guild... some ancient human city that was lost to time, or perhaps an ancient dwarvish settlement intentionally built underground, where some ancient clan broke off from traditional Mitgardian dwarvish customs and set out to start a new way of life... Greco-Roman dwarves, in an underground city made of marble, deep beneath the southern lands, lost to the ages. You can do vignettes of their life in the distant past, or have some more modern characters discover the ruins of the city, trying to piece together the puzzle of the ancient dwarvish world so far from their snowy homeland... maybe there's a small pocket of them still living in some corner of the lost city, very different from both the original inhabitants as well as modern dwarves, strangers to modern Historica and the long-forgotten surface world their ancestors knew well.
