I think this was my first set ...tho I'm pretty sure I had a couple of the Happy Meal polys a year or so before getting this. It was definitely my first minifigure!

1. Cloud City is far more plausible than the Jedi Temple... not necessarily as some giant set, but as scenes? Definitely. There's the Ugnaught junk room, there's the Carbon Freeze chamber, there's the pivotal "No, I am your father" scene... the Jedi Temple has possibilities, but overall is just a place for meetings & lessons. 2. Animated Boga and a Grievous Wheelbike that already includes Obi-Wan isn't exactly a 'hint'. 3. The Corvette is different enough to perhaps warrant a whole new set, but it'd be a pretty hefty set for something not really involved in any iconic scenes... pivotal, perhaps, since the fate of the twins is decided on the ship, but it can't really compare to the intro to ANH and Vader's introduction. 4. So far, Yoda Chronicles sets have focused on Jek; if Old Jek visits Dagobah and hops in the pod to leave (or something) in a new episode, then maybe there's a chance. As an ROTS-based set, tho, there's little chance anytime soon; Chewie and Tarfful have already been released. 5. Not sure which part doesn't make sense... there are a couple sets still on shelves that have (TCW-style) 501st clones, so that might be why they skipped them for the ROTS packs; the Snowtroopers just came out, so it's not surprising that they didn't do up a new Galactic Marine set for Winter 2015 as it'd require a different production run of the helmets either in dark red w/ white print on the front, or white w/ dark red print on the bucket. I'm not even sure they can deliver that kind of print successfully... 6. Felucia Clones would need something to support, probably. The Kashyyyk BP supported the AT-AP and Droid Gunship, while the Utapau BP supported Grievous' Wheelbike. I'd rather see them in a set with Aayla, but what would be the build in such a set? Another giant walker? That's no fun. My point about them being 'background' is mainly that, as clones, they do nothing aside from kill Aayla and ride in a troop transport... I'd rather get Neimoidian Warriors who are incredibly different & more visually interesting than yellow-trimmed kama-wearing clones in a sea of other Crayola clones.

He's not really wrong... it would've cost quite a bit to animate robes for Senate guards back then, if only because of man-hours needed to rig, render, animate, etc hanging cloth robes... Jedi skirts, Dooku's cape, & Cad Bane's jacket are one thing, but the kinds of robes required for the guards would've been difficult. It's one big reason why the Jedi didn't really have the hooded outer robes, ever-present in the films, until Season 5 in any big way. It was much simpler (and cheaper!) to just recolor clone armor blue and recast the guards as commandos, making a new helmet that also allowed for greater head motion than the movie guard helmets. Most of those are at the edge of "unlikely" and "not at all". Padme's starship isn't really feasible as either chrome or even an entire ship of silver... the Jedi Temple is too large and, unless it's the Order 66 scene, too dull... the Boga was not "hinted at"; just because an animated version of it exists doesn't mean Lego is necessarily bound to make it (look at any of the Lego video games for that, particularly LOTR/Hobbit), the Corellian cruiser (you mean Bail's ship?) has far more potential as an Episode IV set than III where it just ferried Bail & the Jedi around, Yoda's escape pod might be kinda interesting but we just had a Yoda set with the Geonosis Duel. It'd be nice to see more 501st, and to see the new Snowtroopers turned into Galactic Marines, but Lego might thing all the recent 501sts from TCW sets cover that well enough, and the new Snowtroopers are too new; perhaps in a set in the summer, or a BP next year. Felucia clones, too, might be interesting to see, but all they did was walk around & shoot Aayla amidst a fungal forest that Lego probably wouldn't make. Since this year had so many ROTS Battlepacks, it's not surprising at all that 2015's skipping ROTS, either. I wish there were two waves of 4 BPs every year, and 2 waves of 6 Microfighters as well, then maybe a lot of fans' wish lists could be covered in a reasonable amount of time.

Since you brought up ROTS' anniversary yet again, I say again to look at this year's sets! Jedi Interceptor, Vulture Droid, Tri-Fighter, Droid Gunship, AT-AP, V-wing, Battle on Saleucami, General Grievous' Bike, Utapau Troopers, Kashyyyk Troopers... all from ROTS! 10 sets (unless I'm forgetting some)... that's quite a bit of ROTS merchandise that'll still be on the shelves for most/all of 2015. While I wouldn't say there won't be any ROTS sets in the summer wave, I don't think it's strictly necessary; ROTS has been very well-represented recently. Dagobah and Bespin are far more glaring holes, and I'd rather see the 35th anniversary of TESB honored by a bunch of sets in 2015 beyond Slave I and the usual Hoth stuff than the 10th anniversary of ROTS

Did it drop back down, cuz it's still $249.99 on US S@H

Do you mean Rebel Fleet Troopers? We're a little overdue on them, but they're pretty cheap on BL so not a huge necessity (if you don't mind the older-style faces). With Episode VII, we might get new Rebel/Republic troopers... the show Rebels takes place too early for actual "rebel troopers" to be around, tho Alderaanian ships might be crewed by RFTs already (to repel pirate boarding parties, or so Bail Organa will claim if Imps ever question their presence). Most of what you're confused by was in The Clone Wars, or at least meant to represent Clone Wars-era stuff, even if we never saw Geonosis-versions of Phase II or Airborne clones. It seems like a weird "offscreen" thing, as if they were STILL fighting on Geonosis near the war's end... As for the Wookiee Gunship, it's from Rebels obviously... Also, is 14 years after ROTS, and it's a spaceship. We never saw a Wookiee spaceship in the films, a lot could've changed in that time. With Wookiees being persecuted in the Imperial era, it's also possible that the ship isn't of Wookiee design at all, but purchased/stolen by Wookiees out in the galaxy if Kashyyyk is occupied. They may have thrown a coat of paint on it, but that's it... its origins weren't explained at all in the pilot, it was just there at the end.

Read the thread! There are several suggestions for everyone you ask for (except maybe eBay links, but you can figure those out). Some suggestions might be outdated/no longer manufactured, but by no means all... Just on this page is at least one pen suggestion by Hobbestimus with examples of his work using it.

The TIE pilot's helmet doesn't look quite as "off" as the stormies, tho... the Imp officer may have the same basic printing, but he's in a new color clearly more inspired by Rebels than the fluctuating "greys" of the OT, and he's got those extra black bits the officers harassing the Gotal fruit-seller had on their hats/uniforms. It is strange that they bothered altering the stormies at all (and the TIE pilot, whose differences I can't even pinpoint since he doesn't look nearly as sad as the stormies), when everything else is basically intended to fit with movie figures... but there's little use complaining now. All we can do is hope that any other OT characters or troopers that appear in Rebels (and Rebels Lego sets) don't wind up with "almost movie but slightly NOT" prints in the future. And as has been stated several times now, the Shadow Troopers BP is TFU-based. The guards are obvious, but the stormies are also in there. I never encountered them, but then I never finished the game... Hasbro did repaint a couple stormie figures for a Walmart exclusive set with Palpatine, clearly labeled as a TFU set with shadow stormtroopers, a few years ago, and they looked much like these "pearl dark gray" stormies, lighter faces and all.
-
The T-16 did appear onscreen... Luke was swooshing a model of it around in the garage while hanging out with the droids, and you could see the back end of his actual T-16 thru the open door!
-
These are not darktroopers, tho... they are Force Unleashed Shadow Stormtroopers, just as the guards are TFU Shadow Guards. Not typical shadow stormies, not Jedi Outcast Shadowtroopers, not cybernetic and totally-different-armor-style Darktroopers. But if someone at TLG makes the same mistake internally and is able to justify a Kyle Katarn set based on it, and get it approved for release, I won't complain...

Spark of Rebellion is an hour long, so yes it's a two-parter

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Venkefedo replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I doubt anyone was ever disputing that both are stormtroopers... many thought that the difference meant they were another evolutionary step from Phase II clones to OT stormies, tho, which they are not meant to be. It's the only stylistic element from Rebels translated into Lego form, really, and stands out as such which makes them odd. Not odd enough that I won't get them, and at least use the bodies in the front of any arrangement or MOC featuring stormies, but odd as a design choice for Lego since it's pretty much the only thing that stands out as "different" between Rebels and OT figures. -
I'm annoyed that the horizontal-grip bent arms are missing from the AAT, too, and not present in the troop carrier either (also annoyed that the Gungan soldier is in the larger set, while Jar Jar is in the smaller one) As for the AT-DP drivers/bike pilots, their helmets are NOT the same as Ezra's in the show. They have close-fitting stormie-faced masks that look kinda similar to the minifigure head of the current V-wing pilot, with a shorter version of the AT-ST/Veers bucket helmet on top; Ezra's is a McQuarrie Snowtrooper helmet with the mask integrated with a non-Veers bucket. My own thoughts on the sets... I hope this means the Senate Commandos pack is happening after all, as I definitely want a set or two to go with the captain & commando from my Cad Bane Speeder set. I'll probably get a couple ITTs to fill out the ranks, and perhaps a couple Shadow Troopers so the Inquisitor can have some troops while the gray stormies can be an elite squad. The AT-DP looks good, great figures (I'm done complaining about the Rebel Stormie design; I'll get OT helmets if it bothers me too much) tho I still hate Callus & Zeb's weapon design... The TIE Advanced looks great! The dark tan officer is a bit odd, but that color is basically in the show along with grays, so it works. The markings are also present on officers in the show, and I'm curious what they mean... Since dark tan is leaning towards brown, these officers could become Dark Forces Imp officers (there's at least one Hasbro collector I know of who was obsessed with Hasbro making brown-tunic officers from that game)... We just need a Lego Kyle Katarn I'll probably still get Ezra's Speeder Bike, but it's pretty disappointing accessory-wise. It really should have one of the AT-DP drivers in it, Sabine should have her helmet, and Ezra should have a better hilt than grey binoculars. The Geonosis BP does nothing for me... not crazy about the AAT or troop carrier even if the Gungans were swaddled and the droids had bent blaster arms... the T-16 looks nice, and pilot is kinda neat but a big missed opportunity for Anchorhead Biggs. The Tusken looks neat, but a like someone put a Hasbro Tusken head on a Lego body, and the gaffi stick is cumbersome. The womp rat is truly disappointing. The Microfighters are cute, but not as exciting as series 1. I'll get the AT-AT, maybe a couple snowspeeders, and a Vulture Droid... the gunship doesn't interest me much butthe parts might be useful and I can a place for a Phase I clone pilot. I expect the Wookiee gunship will turn up again after its brief appearance in the pilot, and looks like a nice set. Can't wait to see the rest of the wave! And here's hoping Rebels will feature some DSTs so we can maybe get an actual BP of them in the summer, even if simply called "Imperial Navy Troopers" (with one officer, like the Senate Commando captain, in a grey uniform, perhaps with Callus' helmet instead, as a Death Squad Commander stand-in)
-
I think you missed that that's the joke
-
I liked it, but complaining is more fun so let's start with that: - Animation timing & direction felt off; from the silly voiceless Imps who make futile gestures just to have something to do (the biker who reaches add if to call out to Sabine, ignoring the beeping behind him; the Imp officer who tries to grab one-handed at the heroes as they zip by on speeder bikes AFTER they've already passed) to the gag of opening the hatch revealing an eavesdropping Ezra (who then pauses in his crouch long enough to go thru a few expression changes, THEN falls down into the room), there were several moments that just made me want to call for retakes. - Kanan; I just finished A New Dawn, and wanted to see more of his attitude there present in the premiere; there were only flashes of it. He's the "cowboy Jedi", more Han-like attitude would be nice... Especially at the end, with Ezra. I think they completely failed to build the Obi-Wan/Luke moment they wanted... when Kanan explains the Force, he's WAY TOO SERIOUS in that line reading, I kept expecting him to make a joke, to acknowledge that he's a betrayed guy who never even got to complete his own training, and had mostly been hiding his gifts for the last 14 years... Obi-Wan had a lighter demeanor when explaining the Force to Luke, which would have been nicer here. And his "reveal" was unmotivated; as someone else said, if the odds were heavily against them, then maybe, but not as it happened... and then he just walks out into a hail of blaster bolts, dodging by just shifting his shoulders (was that some sorta nod to the ridiculous "Han dodges Greedo's shot" from the SE DVD?) and is given ample time to assemble and activate his saber? - that Wookiee should've died; plenty of stormies died, which I appreciate, but dude got his in the chest! Hardy or not, he shouldn't have been able to just brush it off - Callus is an idiot. Going after Ezra, the way he directed the assault on the Jedi, his inability to keep Ezra in custody, his inability to aim (it's not just stormtroopers!). He looks cool, but is wildly ineffectual. - designs... Most of the eyes feel too bright, too intense. The humans & human-like faces look better than in early TCW, but the painted-on weird brows of Hera and Ezra's glue-on construction-paper-cutout brows need to go. I wish they'd just reused a lot of TCW models; tweak the humans and human-faced characters, the body proportions, etc maybe, but make use of the stock of aliens, civilians, droids, etc to populate even these backwater worlds! I like the ships, explosions, and even the blasts and saber blade, but the characters (those Wookiees!) left something to be desired. Enough complaining for now (tho over probably forgotten several points)... I liked Zeb, Chopper, Sabine... I liked a lot, really, and recognize that the show will grow over time as TCW did and hopefully correct some of these design flaws, pacing, etc... ...oh, yeah: the stormtrooper Callus kicked to his death. THAT'S NOT A BATTLE DROID! It's a soldier under your command, you idiot. I know this is the cruel, evil Empire, but that gag felt misplaced. For those wondering about clones, remember that Rex, Cody, and Wolffe are probably in their mid-50s now (rapid aging, remember, otherwise they'd look as young as Anakin during TCW), and if they all survived and stuck with the Imperial military, they're probably commanding ships or administering training centers or something. Don't be in such a rush to see what everyone we know is up to; let the galaxy be big again, and let the focus remain on the Ghost for awhile before we take detours to see how other folks are faring.
-
They COULD make one for Ezra... not "would" just because of the Inquisitor's. Odds are the Ezra in the bike set will have a regular old saber as it's probably meant to be Kanan's, even tho he possesses it only for a short time (they made his helmet in the Phantom set, even tho he only sports or for about a minute in the pilot before ditching it!) Despite all the promotional material and Hasbro toys showing Ezra's hilt, I'm not sure how long it'll be until he makes his own (or Kanan makes one for him). It'd be nice to see a special element for his hilt, tho; could be very useful!
-
Instead of the barrage of questions, just wait for the pics to be posted!
-
Unless they changed drastically from the preliminary pic, no... just regular Phase II style and Kashyyyk-style armor in Geonosis camo deco.
-
Has Lego ever increased the price of a set after it's been in release for several months? I mean, I can see TRU increasing the price, they do that all the time (especially around big sales, so the 'sale' price is merely MSRP or TRU's normal markup), but Lego itself? I wouldn't count on that...
-
I don't recall if he mentioned those... the Senate Commando pack is supposedly canceled, so he might not have it at all.
-
In the preliminary, the Ultra Agents "Tremor" armor was used, which has the helmet attached to the torso, so that was one reason I thought it might be a single-piece element (BrickWarriors' Brute Armor is another good example of that)... looking closer, the highlight that I took to be where the armor curves up into the helmet as a single piece is just curving into a slightly raised collar, perhaps; I can see the bottom edge of the helmet now, and that gives me hope. It'd be kinda silly to give him a perma-helm if you want him armored up, when that's not how he'll generally appear in the show!
-
NICE! Pearl dark grey hilt, in a new mold? Excellent! Is that helmet/armor one piece? If so, that's disappointing... but also might mean there'll be another Inquisitor set later in the year w/o the helmet part, since I think he still has the armor on when the helmet's off in the series (or there could just be armor printing on his torso for that look) Thanks for posting it! Looking forward to tomorrow's pics!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Venkefedo replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Odd? No, that's mandatory... if you have the Haunted House, of course. Lego would send people to your home and chastise you if you didn't do that with 2 Spooky Girls & the HH (they keep track of what you buy!)- 1,109 replies

I hope there's a lot of corruption from the Abrams camp, far as rumors go... I'm hating most of what I'm hearing (Dark Empire-style! Luke's the villain! Woo hoo! ), but I'm loving the visuals (official and 'probably too involved to be fake', like the pig, the merchant, the X-wing, Falcon, and the hangar location w/ more X-wings) The ships are safe bets for the speculation thread... while TLG might not release a Falcon for VII (too close on the heels of the current one), if it doesn't meet some fiery doom in VII (or even if it does) I think we'll see a new one some time during the new trilogy, with its replacement sensor-dish. And X-wings are X-wings, whatever their current design, so we'll see sets based on at least one of the X-wings for sure... the swoosh factor is strong with them!

Nice! This was my most-wanted mini-rig as a kid (that I never got)... I always though the little gangplank was silly (where do you store the prisoner you'll make walk the plank?) but I loved the look of it, being a mini-skiff with more aesthetics of the sail barge, too. Can't wait to see one built outta real bricks! And to see the MLC-3 (my first mini-rig...only one I ever broke, too, thanks to the silly brittle tabs on the dome and me being 4 or so)
