  1. Thanks Gremer. Not as exciting as I was hoping but at least we get the UCS Tumbler
  2. Not especially a fan of DC or the Dark Knight movies (I prefer Tim Burton's tske) but this will be day 1 puschase for me based on the quality of the set. I reallly like the UCS sets LEGO make and this one i was hoping to see come out one day! Never would have guessed those mififigs would be so valuable but it adds to the appeal of a collectors' item. Did i read somewhere we are to expect a 1960s Batmobile as well? Can't wait for that one either! Will it be a UCS?
  3. I think this makes a lot sense. It fits perfectly into their new UCS stratgy which are ALSO playsets and I would speculate it will indeed include an interior so as to add something new. Everyone is happy: owners of the UCS will have reason to buy it and still be happy with the first UCS. People who don't pen the first UCS finally get a large, colllectors edition MF that is worth displaying. Here's hoping!
  4. Yippie my set just arrived! Incredible fast delivery as always. Things have really improved in this regard since TLG opened up a new distribution centre in Zwolle. Too bad they won't open up an actual LEGO store here in NL.
  5. Could be. I was responding to the notion of ordering through Amazon.de. They won't have the polybag. I guess really with this kind of set I don't really mind the few euros difference it might save since I don't want to run the risk of it selling out and I also like to get it right away. Also I don't want to drive to Germany each time just to save a few euros. But I am sure others think differently. Regular sets I always buy at discount through non-lego store shops.
  6. Ordered mine too now. Besides the mini polybag I also got the chima polybag free. Nice! Looking forward to building the main set, need to prioritise my 'still to build' list including the SSD, Benny's Spaceship and Maersk ship...
  7. I have just noticed the 10242 has disappeared from the lego S@H site. I suspect the site is being updated for the VIP early access promotion today! I think if you order it from S@H from in the VIP period you will get the MICRO mini-cooper free. That is worth the 10 euros difference for me. And if you are so inclined, the market value of those exclusive polybags will likely be double that. Also you well earn VIP points. And you get the model straight away...
  8. Absolutely love this! What a great way to incorporate (and store!) all your old models and parts into your city layout. I might one day copy your idea with all the spares and old stuff I have!
  9. I own a ucs falcon but would still buy this new set if it was significantly different or better. I would still be happy I also own one of the original 20000 ucs sets the first time around, like a collectors item. I don't colllect to resell.
  10. How about this connection: they all contain studs with the trademark LEGO print on them. Mind boggling ;-)
  11. Interesting commonalities among AFOLs... Creative writing, reading, photography. Should be quite easy to make a standard profile of an AFOL based on these hobbies. i wonder if the same could be said in regard to socio demographics. Would be interested in that, on the other hand if LEGO catch on they might start cross selling all kinds of stuff to us poor AFOLs ;-)
  12. I think City only ever really was intended at its core to be just police and firemen related. The other themes help complete the 'city': houses from creator line, various cool vehicles from super heroes etc, interesting structures from other themes(monster fighters etc). And that's just for kids. Add modulars, winter village etc for adults and I think you can safely say Lego provides through their various themes more than enough great sets to build a whole city. And finally we shouldn't forget that they do actually also include other simpler structures in the City theme (e.g. a museum) and vehicles (e.g. trash van) as well. Which by my reasoning about the City theme is pretty alien. Think about it: if the did not call their Police and Firemen theme 'City', what would they call it then? Lego Police (without the space ;-) sounds rather imposing and Lego Bankrobbers rather threatening... Just another thought (in a way off topic but hell - lego is meant to be mixed together): when will we start seeing Friends Police, Firemen and crooks? In lovely pink and purple -;) Or does this just confirm my reasoning above?
  13. Very nice! From the looks of it the train is used as a display i.e. it doesn't go around / connect up? Interested in that idea, it saves 'wasted' space in the corners!
  14. Nice collection. What shelving system are you using? Like the lighting with black background, makes it look very spacy!
  15. I like gaming and golf. And doing the garden (almost the same fun as making a lego city layout is re-doing a part pf the garden)
  16. It's an english word. So tech-nick for sure!
  17. I am not sure I agree with the comments wishing it was bigger like the VW Beetle. I like the way the camper just about fits in your hand, that makes it feel more solid. The Beetle needs 2 hands to hold and feels therefore less like a really well-made toy and more like a model to stare at. Both approaches have merits IMO.
  18. Looks good to me too! Although I would add a bit more detail on th roof top of the bike shop. I plan(ned) to put this set in my suburb street that runs in front of the mainstreet (lined with modulars). It is planned to go next to my train station that is a modified 4954 town house. That setup is based on real life in the village where I live. Seeing this though makes me rethink that plan...
  19. Won't those black pins remove using the lego brick separator?
  20. Thanks for all the responses guys and helping me develop my opinion on BURPs. It's given me a new perspective on the matter. Also I take note of the strong feelings toward them from what I gather are experienced builders. And no worries about stopping buying lego for the kids (or myself ;-). I was careful not to express my disappointment to them and I think after all this TLG can be quite confident about their continued share of wallet in our household. P.s. LegoFjotten thaks mate fair point as well
  21. Hi all, I must share my complete disappointment in a LEGO Friends set I have started building with my daughter. Set #41033 Jungle Falls Rescue. I really thought Friends was a great line for getting girls interested in LEGO but if TLG thinks they need to 'dumb' things down by moulding a piece that is more than easy enough to build out of very regular existing bricks then I am hugely disappointed. Case in point is piece #4216709 which in my opinion is no longer a BURP but a GURP - Gigantic Ugly Rock Piece! I really hope this is a one off mistake on TLG side. Let's keep LEGO pure and about making creations with existing bricks rather than coming up with these awful things. For me that - together with great designs - is was separates LEGO from their copy-cat competitors. Sorry for my rambling, I am a huge LEGO fan so probably emotions are getting the better of me. Perhaps this is an incident. But if you agree please make this known and let's hope LEGO is listening. For if this is the future of 'kids' sets then I guess LEGO will not be top of the list at Christmas time for my kids. Stop the BURPs and GURPs!
  22. And where does all this lead?
  23. Wonder why you need a special brick plate to build on? Otherwise I am a bit skeptical really. Part of my satisfaction with Lego bricks is that it is so tangible. Am not waiting for yet another computer-related activity.
  24. Regardless what it says on the receipt: Are you sure you went above the 55 euro threshold?
  25. My 41999 is still in the box. Reading this perhaps I should keep it there
