  1. First, this is truly amazing on so many levels (size, details, creativity). This is great! Secondly, have you thought about building a staircase from the street level to the beech? Whether wood, concrete, a spiral (least favorite idea), etc., I think it will add a little something more (not that it really needs it ...just a thought) Last, I like Strikeman's idea for closing off the openings. I think that would work well. Anyway, I am still speechless ...to one day have the space (and money!) to do this myself ...I can dream. Nice work!
  2. Okay, I have been too active in this thread lately, so here is my last one: I just got a bunch of sets to start getting into castle stuff (Joust x2, MMV, village raid, etc.), but I don't have any castles. Is Helms Deep a good set to start a castle MOC? I can get it at Target for $99. If not, can you recommend another one that is good for castles, new or old (for a newbie)? I would like to stay around $100 considering I just spent a grand in the last month on Lego. Thanks in advance. Edit: Thanks to cwetqo, I saw the other thread that dealt with this issue somewhat; based on that thread, HD is obviously a good choice for castle MOCs given what's out there (thanks cwetqo). So, if I may adjust the question a little: before I buy HD, are there any older sets for a castle MOC you would recommend first for a castle newbie? I apologize for all the questions, but I have never really looked at the last 15 years of castle stuff or any of the LOTR items until today.
  3. I decided to make the plunge into castle stuff (usually a city guy). So, with some advice from people on here, I just picked up... Kingdoms Joust x2 Medieval Market Village Final Joust (for the knight) Mill Village Raid The Knight I think I eventually want to get the Kingdoms Chest Set (for army building) because I want to eventually make a MOC in castle stuff. This is new for me so we'll see how it goes.
  4. You won't be disappointed with GE at all. That's the one that got me back into Lego altogether. Somebody else may be better qualified to answer your other question. I am not sure if they make a formal announcement all the time (I imagine they probably would give some sort of announcement). Either way, they usually won't change their price, but there probably will be a rush of people buying the set to later sell at a markup. As you probably know, the markup can range from a few bucks to several times the original price (I have paid 4x the original before). In the case of FB and GE, I can't see a huge markup right after its sold out (they have been out a while), but you never know what the market will dictate.
  5. I actually bought this set with every intention of making it a modular; however, after putting it together, it works too well as a standalone. I think It can be easily turned into one, especially if you purchased two, but you may want to keep it as that creepy building at the end of the road all by itself instead. Anyway, I thought I saw one already done; if I find it, I will edit this post.
  6. My wife says I need a Lego Intervention. I just ordered an additional Kingdoms Joust from Lego (I knew I should have just got 2 when I placed the first order earlier today)
  7. Like holodoc said above, I really prefer to stay away from bright colors on my modular street (I almost screamed when the rumor was going around that the Palace Cinema was yellow), but this works extremely well. It is actually tempting me to try something in orange. I also really like the double garage. Makes me wish the FB was double. This is really good - nice job!
  8. I have all of them on display except Market Street. Your question is rather hard as, architecturally speaking, I like the design of GE better, but the FB was the better build and looks more impressive. If I HAD to choose (and my wife agrees), I would go with the FB first, but if you can afford it, don't pass on either. Plus (and I know you said IF both stay in production, but...), the FB will most likely be the first to go if only one ends (but that's just my speculation). In all honesty though, while I slightly prefer the FB, you won't be disappointed with ever of these.
  9. Well, I thought I was done for the year, but I just ordered 10223 Kingdoms Joust 7189 Mill Village Raid 7009 Final Joust 5615 The Knight 10193 Medieval Market Village
  10. As somebody mentioned above, this is pretty much what I meant. The width of the road does not stay consistent through the turn; thus, it bulges at the turn and narrows in the middle (which looks a little tight for cars). Then, because of this, the road lines just don't seem as smooth and "flowing" as you would normally see on the streets. However, again, it still looks great, and I don't think it would be noticeable at all when a few cars and minifigures are there. Overall, this is extremely impressive!
  11. I was thinking the exact same thing. I didn't understand the orange on the black figures either.
  12. is hoping that pictures of the Palace Cinema will be released soon.

  13. It's funny that you mention that set. As I was looking at reviews of the MMV and Joust, I was looking on BL to see if there was anything else that would fall into the same category as MMV (giving me more reason to pick it up). I came across that set, but I never really heard anyone talking about it. I am not entirely sold on that one as is, but I think it can easily be molded into something I would like (then again, I am always suprised once I build the set - they usually always look so much better in person). Regarding the lack of numbers on the bags, I would actually look forward to it. In fact, I miss the days of small instruction booklets - when pieces weren't laid out, and you actually had to think to follow and build the sets.
  14. I thought "something" like that was going on; I just didn't realize you could get such a bend out of Lego like that (I have never built anything that big). I really like that station. Nice Job.
  15. I don't know how many times I watched this video. I love rollercoasters, and seeing that combined with Lego - that's amazing. I even like the face on the front of the large hill. Visually, I think the only thing I would like would be some cross supports, but after I googled some images, I realized that some of the steel "old-fashioned" coasters don't have them (I just never saw that previously). Having said that - I scratched my suggestion. This is just perfect.
  16. I watched that game, and I couldn't have been happier (I am a Bears fan) or shocked. However, I will say: you guys really didn't deserve that loss, and even as a DIEHARD Bears fan, I hope that doesn't cost you in the long run (I just hope that losses to other teams costs ya - HA!). Well, we'll see if we can handle the Lions at home tomorrow. Da Bears!
  17. Maybe it's because Holloween is around the corner (and scary movies), but when I look at these, I can't get my mind off the movie, The Shining. Anyway, these are really, really good. I especially like the two red ones. Great little MOCs there.
  18. This is so true. I had the Red Cargo Train and the Yellow Cargo Train from last Christmas. This month, I decided to expand, and I picked up 2 Maersk trains and the Emerald Night. I am eyeing the Horizon now as well. However, all of my trains are sitting under a shelf right now because even after buy 3 sets of the 8 straight/8 flex packs (and having the track from the Red and Yellow trains), I still don't have enough to properly display all of the trains, let alone power them along a track.
  19. I ABSOLUTELY love this setup. It's a great break from a normal straight street. I love the curved building, and that walkway is fantastic! I would never be able to make a building like that, but I am already thinking of ways to do a walkway, even if on a straight street. That is amazing! Now, I feel really bad saying this, but I don't mean it in a rude way at all (I could never have done this). My only "critique" is that the road lines themselves seem to be slightly off (road bulging at parts). It's not a big deal at all, and I probably wouldn't even have noticed if I saw it in person (the straight down shot just emphasizes it). But like I said, this is just a small critique; the grand aspects (curved building and bridge) are simply amazing. I really, really like it. NICE JOB!
  20. I have all of the modulars besides Market Street, and I think Town Hall is one of my least favorites. The columns are nice, and it does come with a lot of pieces (if you are looking for a piece count to later build a MOC); however, I don't care for some of the interior decorations, and I really think the elevator and bell could have been handled differently. I also think something is just missing from the overall look. It's big (and impressive in that way), but in some ways, it's rather plain. I think GE has more texture and interesting aspects on the outside (SHOP sign, window washer, billboard, etc.); I think it has more eye candy. I also like the inside chandelier and escalators. Now, I will agree with some critiques that the inside is rather empty for being an emperium, but a few additions will take care of that. Like I said, I have all of the modulars except MS, and I like TH in the row of buildings; however, if I had to choose one, I would pick GE, definitely. All in all though, it's a matter of preference.
  21. Both of your comments have made me decide to pull the trigger. I didn't realize (since I just got back into Lego about a year ago and since I don't have castle items) that the MMV was so old. Hmm. Now I guess I just have to decide whether I want one or two ...lol (the wife is going to kill me)!
  22. I just spent tons on Lego recently (Maersk train x2, Emerald Night, etc), and I thought I was done for the year. However, I have have been eyeing the Kingdom Joust and Medieval Market lately, especially with double points and free shipping. I mainly collect modulars, some city vehicles, architecture, minifigures, and (now) trains. So, I don't have any castle. Do I pull the trigger, or do I just save money for the 2013 sets? I know this is more opinion, but I am so on the fence.
  23. I was definitely hoping for a yellow cement truck. these two will be a must buy for me. Thanks for digging up the pictures.
  24. I just saw your Pumpkin Factory on another site for the first time yesterday. I didn't realize that was yours (I should have known). I love the colors of that one, but I must say that the textures on your Apple Square won me over. I would definitely buy it. Don't give up.
  25. Now with the rumored palace cinema as the next modular, I have scratched my plans for a theatre, and have started looking at stations. This one is really nice. I love all the fine details, especially the curved platform. I would never need one, but my curiosity still makes me ask, how did you do that (it looks great!)? I was just curious (don't feel the need to disclose if its a trade secret). Anyway, nicely done!
