  1. Used 8264 for 10 EUR. 6 yellow 5x11 panels cover the cost :)
  2. Thanks Sir Edwyn, tiberium_blue photostream is very impressive and inspiring. Thanks for inspiring words everyone, I'll upload new photos of my experiments :)
  3. Hello Castle builders, I am primary Technic builder, but I love all you guys do here in castle forums. Hence, I thought what if I could build, let's say, watchtower, from Technic pieces? So this thought has been following me long, but I haven't found time, to give it a decent time. On the other hand I haven't seen it done before, please correct me if I'm wrong. I see that with my pace, it'll take ages, till I get to smthn decent, also, this technique is a lot slower than just stacking bricks, so I made few pics of this WIP project, so maybe someone can have it for inspiration and give it a proper try. I have bunch of ideas, how to make windows, how to connect pieces to regular baseplates etc. I hope I'll manage a proper Technic-Castle tower someday. Here is picture from WIP watchtower (I'll probably need to make base in smaller scale, as I'm noob castle builder): And second so you see, that you can make decent curves with Technic pieces. And here's a thought I got like half an hour ago - how to make a different base connection to build the wall around, as well as using axles for inner strength of the structure. Comments welcome. BR, Lauris
  4. 44. Dakar Truck Dakar Truck - #42001 alternate Original set contains 100 parts, my C-model contains 86 I believe. Features Doors open Independent suspension Pictures Side view Rear Front With Unimog gearbox :) Link to entry topic: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=102954 Leftovers: Have a nice day!
  5. Hello fellow Eurobrickers, I made this MOC some time ago, but as it's never posted anywhere, as most stuff I make, I believe it's good for this contest. It's C - model of very small set #42001, and it even uses the same chassis as A and B models. So I believe it's nothing exceptional, but I hope, you will like it. And I believe, as it's so simple, you can easily recreate it as well. I would say, it's sort of Dakar truck. The reason behind this design is that I didn't want to repeat the A and B models design backbone with part 32009, so I placed this part upwards, and had to make body around it. Eventually I even made the doors open, though they don't stay closed very well either. Anyways, here are some pictures. A nice pencil drawing of this MOC :) Comparison with Unimog gearbox, as I've started to build my Unimog (at last). Comparison with my upgraded version of #9398-B model Front, with doors open and minifig for comparison. Side view Rear Some more pics here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=550318
  6. Brain Games - mostly eurogames (Agricola, Power Grid, Caylus etc.). I and my GF, we do even host a weekly play evening, to socialize with our friends :)
  7. Hello and welcome in eurobricks! Nice to see someone else from Baltics here! You have made a very cool MOC, I like soviet machines from LEGO very much :) My father actually had a salad green IŽ 412, till 1995 I guess :) P.S. if you're interested in Baltic LUG activities, write me an e-mail klavins.lauris [at] gmail .com we are looking for new members very hard! :))
  8. Hello! I am currently working on heavy MOD of 8297, I have sucessfully changed the front part of the model including a gearbox run by M motor, so the model has motorized winch and second output (probably for door lift), as well as servo for steering. I didn't had problem with adding XL for propulsion. I am keeping the original suspension of 8297-B and RWD layout because I am too lazy to invent my own :D The XL propulsion output goes to 20T-reduced to 12T, then again 12T and back to 20T and then standard 3L diff. I think it's enough reduction for XL... But now I have noticed a glitch... when standing without pressure on suspension, the yellow shock absorbers push to the steering arm (part 57515) so much, that it generates too much friction between steering arm and CV joint (part 32494), making one wheel turn slower and sometimes almost stop. This happens also when I pick it up in the air - one wheel turns (the one in the "gear" side of differential). If i slow down the fast spinning wheel, then the other that was slow, start to spin faster as if there was no problem. Also, if I apply pressure to shock absorber, so the CV joint and universal joint go straight to the differential (instead of being in angle), the friction is less and speed of both wheels becomes somewhat similar. Here's two pics of rear suspension from underside, that might help to undersand: http://www.brickshel.../dsc_2139-2.jpg and http://www.brickshel...-B/dsc_2137.jpg As I thought that this is due to the pressure shock absorber is creating towards the steering arm, I lifted the shock absorber one stud higher, so the angle is wider and accordingly, lower pressure (ofc, it made the chassis flat instead of the lifted rear as with 8297 B). But the problem still exist. With current setup I noticed, that when driving or checking wheelspin while they are lifted in air, they turn fine when "driving" backwards, but loose sinergy and start driving with gear crack sound, when "driving" forward. So the question is - can this be "cured" keeping the 8297 rear suspension setup, maybe by replacing a part (differential?) that might be faulty? Or this is going to happen anyways (some natural situation with XL)? I had the nasty sound of slipping gear crack with my previous MOD - 9395, but in the end, I managed to make a drivetrain, that doesn't crack (http://www.brickshel...V2/dsc_0487.jpg) . Now I hope to get an advice, as I don't have experience with XL motors, as well as suspended axles, and maybe I am doing something totally wrong... thanks! Lauris
  9. Nice one Johannes, thanks for sharing! :)
  10. Well, I have got 41999 and I even didn't participate in the contest. As far as I remember from a release information, a limited amount of sets were sent to LEGO brand stores and some other partners. That would explain how the set is in circulation already. Two of my fellow LUG members got their set out of pure lucky coincidence, that we made our LUG planning evening in cafeteria of shopping mall, where a LEGO monobrand store was located. Ofc, after the planning we went to the LEGO shop, and there it was - two boxes on a shelf, waiting for us. They got it for ~200 EUR in 25.07. Afterwards I got warning that one internet shop has listed the set and with I managed to get one for ~180 EUR the next day. The interesting thing was, that the internet shop I was buying from, got maybe 6 of these sets and due to the very high interest in the set, after I got mine on 26.07 10:00 a.m, the shop has risen the price to ~255 EUR at 15:00 p.m. It is still seen in their web page, if someone is interested, I can PM a link (but the shop does not send to EU, sorry for that). I intend to keep this set, with the sole exception if it will have a cool number plate, then it would be too valuable for me to keep.
  11. Ignoring colors I have 97.4%, 67 parts missing :) But ofc, I'm gonna buy this.
