LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

I’m surprised that they haven’t yet down tie ins with specific Disney licences to have one single CMF for a movie. Perhaps they will revisit the Simpsons again. Or maybe give us a Smurf CMF alongside the IDEAs set … -

Not even the clam in a new colour, which is a shame! Though I wish they’d gone with a recolour of the overlooked splendid starfish part instead. Oh well

LEGO Collectable Minifurries Series 28. Rumors and discussion

Legit did not expect to see new parts as accessories in this series - so the new bubble & rubber ring are a surprise! Think the dolphin & fish look pretty weird. Slightly disappointed the clam shell isn’t a new colour- 178 replies

It does look different - but we should probably wait to see the real thing, renders being what they are

Yet the leopard and cougar are the same size as the lion; the ant is bigger than a squirrel, and the anglerfish is almost as big as a dolphin 🫠

They really should have made the deer mould with detachable/changeable antlers in the first place!

So - as it stands - no new moulds required? I’m not massively surprised but I’m also torn on any new animals arising via this licence. Though we have seen most animals from HP sets arrive in unlicensed ways (python, otter, rat, stag, hare ) other moulds, and prints / species have been stuck behind the license paywall.

There is *some* logic in making desirable parts, for which people might be tempted to buy a whole set, exclusive by price. But it’s totally at odds with the reality of the cost of producing said parts, and it makes them unavailable for a lot of people who can’t afford, or justify buying, big sets just to get one or two parts. It creates artificial scarcity which helps who? A cynic might say that Lego now owning BrickLink and knowing full well the after sales costs (and geographical complexities) of specific parts is all related. I appreciate we are all AFOLs and have our own disposable incomes to fund our hobbies, but honestly that’s not that different to a wee kid who desperately wants to add some foxes (or whatever) to their collection who simply can’t afford a massive set. I think, whilst recognising it’s a niche issue and a privileged position, to folk who have collected and spent a fair whack of money on Lego over many years, it’s -at best- pretty insulting. I think it also makes a mockery of any sense of fairness to anyone wanting these pieces / animals, and I honestly thought they already had a policy to wait a few months before B&P availability as a specific policy to balance this. At the end of the day, you simply can’t justify in any rational way a small animal like a fox costing almost the same as a large complex animal like the orca*, or costing the same as a couple of horses which are both larger, more complex, and articulated. I see the only logical outcome of this is to drive Lego fans to clone brands for desirable pieces like the animals - and - again - who does that help? *acknowledging the nonsensical situation of the orca needing a separate, vastly overpriced, jaw piece.

I would think that Lego would be able to draw conclusions from the territories they are selling them in, though, no? Can’t be rocket science.

Apparently they’re putting a lot of thought and time into responding to my complaint, which is why it’s taking ‘a few weeks’

Calling it now - they’ll reuse that shepherd pup as a patronus again. If nothing else, I’ll be very happy to be proved wrong.

Cautiously optimistic about the possible new animals appearing as ‘patronuses’, as they have never been licence-locked in the past. It did, though, take some time for the hare, otter & deer to make it into ‘real’ animal variants, so probably wouldn’t expect those any time soon… couple of years after, maybe? Have to also add that for the first recolour of the new wolf to be in trans glittery blue, ain’t all that useful to me 🤷🏽♂️

Some amazing parts recoloured in there. Animals wise, the ‘coral’ piece looks to be in at least one new colour - or maybe two. One seems to be the new reddish-orange at least. 🪸

Zomg don’t make me feel guilty - I already helped you out with plenty animals 😘 I LOVE the Lego ostriches. I’ve long thought that the Lego birds were some of the best animals (ostrich, toucan, owls, flamingo, penguin, eagle) and arguably the strongest sub group. (As it happens I did get a couple of pristine ostriches recently with a view to including them in the Lego animal advent calendars 😬)

Yikes. I think the reality for many of us in recent years is that getting hold of parts has become trickier and a lot costlier. Above and beyond the territories not covered by B&P we have the recent confusion over parts to North America (presumably tariff related), who also have to contend with sets sometimes being released later than in Europe. For us lucky folk in the UK the aftersales market on Bricklink etc is a bit of a nightmare since Brexit - with many stores no longer shipping to UK or costs being ridiculous with taxes. I think all of that, coupled with many places having difficult times with cost of living, makes the crazy priced B&P just another heavy straw on the camel’s back. I many of us have spent rather a lot over the years on what are essentially small pieces of plastic, but that cumulatively becomes harder to justify as the prices rise. *my one hope is that someone at LEGO realises they made a decimal point/ number boo-boo and the foxes are relisted @ £1.12 tomorrow 😆 *slowly hides my camels out of view*
