I think there’s a real dearth of central & South American animals in the Lego biome. So, on top of the iguana I’d love to see an armadillo, sloth and a ‘proper’ capybara too. As well a the obvious need for a modern macaw. Only when it’s a lot of them.

The shepherd dog (3, plus one as a ‘Dalmatian’ plus 2 special ones), husky (3), terrier (3), Chihuahua (3, one is just a slight difference in the eyes), Bulldog (3, one is just a collar change), French bulldog (3, plus one robot version), retriever (3), vested Labrador (3 I think), Afghan hound, shepherd puppy (2), dachshund (2), and whatever breed Fang in Harry Potter is supposed to be [EDIT : it’s a Neapolitan Mastiff] So that’s TWELVE dog moulds in existence, not counting Friends and Disney ones. … in theory the terrier mould was used to represent a Scottish Terrier (in black), a West Highland Terrier (in white) and a Cairn Terrier (Toto!) We have very similar fauna across the northern hemispheres, with some exceptions. Plus we are often divided by common names such as what we call an elk or a moose or a deer ;) I’m surprised a boar hasn’t turned up already, would be great for historic or forest themes. It was also the ‘steed’ of Dain Ironfoot the dwarf army leader in the Hobbit, so it could have appeared there.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
williejm replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Clearly people are put off by the dwarf man-bun & the pink scarf -
That’s quite a North America-specific list you got there! I’m hankering for a Lego iguana: it would be good for either wild or ‘as a pet’ settings, and could come in a range of colours too. Would be a nice new animal to get in a CMF with an archetypal tourist, Floridian, or Charles Darwin homage!

In theory the first iteration of that bear (and its design /shape) was a grizzly/brown bear in the forest police sets. That’s ancient history now though. Still one of my favourite of all Lego animals … and we have a bear cub now, so maybe it’s time to revisit the brown bears

And I’m sure they ate most of them, as well as some ponies, so we could have roasted versions too 😂 We gots your crocodiles, spoiders, snakes, cockatoos, koalas, shaaaarks … filling out an Australian subtheme is eminently doable, and would just need a key animal 🦘🖤🦢 mould or two to make it awesome We are decades-overdue for a pigeon at this stage. Similarly the ‘City’ theme is wide enough to allow other critters to show up - Australian cities have cockatoos, for example, or ibises raking through their bins, and North American cities are racoon territory

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 27. Rumors and discussion
williejm replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think maybe we should all move on, rather than nit-picking already-explained comments, or trying to *gotcha* this … ;) Yep this would have to mean a a new arm mould *and* prosthetic piece for the l’il astronomer figure. I love that Lego is including visible ability differences as a standard across themes, and it’s neat to have them in CMF too 👍🏼 -
I think I would have singled the same sets as having animal potential, alongside the tractor. We should also remember the trend of introducing random and unexpected dogs, kittens, squirrels in City sets in recent years. There could well be a new dog guarding the scrapyard, for example! I think I expect the sheep to stay in the colours it is, though I’d like to see a recolour using a tan fleece and white legs/head. Outside chance that we get a new ram in this set, though personally I’d prefer say a couple of sheep and a new (collie) sheepdog. Lifeguard set I’d predict has an existing animal reused, like the small turtle or dolphin. For the Holiday Campervan to have an adventure suggests some wilderness or wild things - might be a reach but could be a mountain scenery build and critter to ‘go with’ the Off-Road mountain truck. In the past though campervans and caravans shave usually had a forest / lake location across Lego themes. So maybe something new there or a wolf lurking by the campfire 🤣 Mountain 4x4 I’d expect to have some scenery build and an animal - or else how is it ‘mountain’? A good place for a recolour of the eagle mould for a gold eagle, or a proper craven… **UPDATE** the tractor set seems to be a €20 4+ set. We should temper our expectations of a gargantuan flock!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 27. Rumors and discussion
williejm replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Looks like a pea or leaf printed on a small circular tile. Monster is a new mould, though you could indeed keep him, and pet him, and call him George. I think we have to assume that feedback and research has indeed shown that what kids want from these series is a bunch of ‘kids doing things’ figures, cute costumes, and colourful hair. That has been pretty consistent for a while now. -
Ooh. New list?

Ooh good catch. How did I miss the fish before that? Thanks boss. Have edited for the fish. I still think that’s a new cat, so until I’m proved wrong by other pics, I’m keeping it in. If nothing else, why have a ‘cat lover’ figure at this stage without a new cat!? (and I’m a dog person, as you know) I think you’re right, re trend, I’m just lazy re graphs

There’s *at least* two new animals, probably three unless that pic is very distorted -

Yeah that’s a good shout, unless it’s a new piece and there’s an attached halo or something we can’t see! -
Have just done a quick tally of the ‘new’ animal moulds which CMFs have given us over the years. It’s fair to say that it’s only relatively recently that they have been pretty consistent, and licensed series -perhaps not unexpectedly- have not yielded very many, but where they have been exceptions, they have been great! The total of new animal moulds introduced via CMFs, up to and including Series 27, is TWENTY NINE animals. Of those only 5 have come from licensed series : one each Marvel series (small croc and small owl), one from The Lego Batman Movie * (lobster). and two from Harry Potter* (rat and python). The numbered ‘normal’ series have launched 24 new animals, so that’s less than one per series on average, and much less than one on average when all licensed series are included. The series yielding most new animals is a tie between Series 19 (flamingo, chameleon, dachshund) and the upcoming Series 27** (wolf, cockatoo and new cat). Regular viewers will not be surprised that I have not included fantasy animals, mohawk cats, rubber duckies, plushies or cartoony sidekicks. Nor have I included recolours, reprints or reuses. ———————— The Breakdown ONE new animal mould in each of: S11 - cat; S13 - cobra; S15 - skunk; TLBM - lobster; S18 - mouse; S20 - small turtle; S21 - hermit crab; Marvel 1 - small owl (smowl); Marvel 2 - small crocagator. TWO new animals each in: S10 - gull, chihuahua; S16 - terrier, penguin; S17 - rabbit, French bulldog, Harry Potter & Fantastic Beasts - rat, python; S22 - foal, toucan; S24 - falcon, koala; S25 - Afghan hound, goat***. THREE new animals in: S19 - chameleon, flamingo, dachshund; S27 - wolf, cockatoo, ‘Persian’ cat … * these appeared almost simultaneously with the mould’s use in new sets -so I have asssumed that CMFs claim these! ** from the one photo we currently have. Will be happily corrected if there’s a missing beastie or cat not showing in that image. *** we know the goat is very similar but it’s technically a new mould, so it counts.

*This* Even at a push very few of Lego’s hairstyles fall into exclusively ‘male’ or ‘female’ presenting. Plus non-binary folks exist, have hair, and they can colour or style it any way they like! -

Pssst, the tiny turtle was in Series 20. Hey you said you didn’t care about wolfs. So you can send me all your ‘spares’ when you collect the Beastmaster figures, right? RIGHT?

I mean, she was listed as a cat lady. 🤷🏽♂️ My take on which figures are female-presenting from that pic are: cat lady, pterodactyl costume, pirate, plush animal fan, astronomy kid & longboarder; The jury is out on the Bogeyperson, jetpack racer and hamster costume steampunk inventor, Cupid, Beastmaster look like the only ones I’d say were male from the pic. But of course we can always make them whatever we want and swap heads and hair anyways Yeah I wouldn’t go betting on any specific colour from that one image! -
