I’m not sure about this logic. I think the reason that the ‘normal’ series are now chocka with new animals etc is precisely because the CMF distribution has changed to include licenceee themes ... so they need to ‘up their game’ on normal series and compensate in a way for specialist series.

New modular gives us a bluebird! ... and a beautiful recolour if the chameleon too

I’m still surprised they didn’t reuse the husky mould in plain white for a Samoyed... maybe one day it will be a Build A Minifigure exclusive. Totally agree on the Labrador. The dogs are being introduced in a strange order of breeds, with ‘obvious’ things like Labrador, poodle, collie and arguably Doberman still escaping us.

If you’re looking for BAM parts I’d suggest going to one of the Westfield stores (white City or Stratford) rather than Leicester Square. Though LSq has a bigger selection in theory, newer pieces can get snapped up really quickly and emptied out.

It seems to be a tan version with new printed face - so it’s a proper ‘lioness’ and a new species for us, albeit using that same mould. I agree to wanting more animals, but kinda good to see us getting all the species we are getting with this mould too! It’s also interesting that the first version that used a variant head was the sabre tooth car, not a male lion...

Yep - was at London store last week and seemed to be the same types of Christmas parts as last year - Santa, elf & ‘mrs Claus’ figures.

It loooooks like the ‘can I speak to your manager’ hairpiece in green, and on a pale green head.

These are stunning. Also - new rat/mouse costume head!

I also don't think a 'zebra' recolour of the existing horse mould would work well, fwiw.

I’d hazard a guess that a lion would be the most likely ‘new’ animal yielded by a one off safari set. Would only need a new head on the existing big cat body, and it’s the glaring omission in the use of that mould.

Yeah, Errol is a gray owl in the movies, so jury still out there. From the markings I’d guess it’s supposed to be a great horned owl - or something similar. Bulldog I have no idea about. Seems a little odd to get a bulldog so soon after the French bulldog ...

These are all awesome so far, and for the most part just what I was hoping for from this series. Seems clear they’re testing the water for further series by being quite specific with variants.

Hey @Roebuck you know I share some of your likes, especially when it comes to animals, but I really can’t get my head around being negative about any themed or licensed series in this way. Especially ahead of seeing what we are getting! To my mind, there’s usually *something* we wouldn’t get otherwise, and quite often some nice surprises (dolphin in TLBM CMF2, the awesome mouse in series 18, and Toto in TLM2, for example). I guess I view the figures as much as parts providers as I do the complete figure. I never realised for example, how much I *needed* the trousers with the printed check shirt tied around that’s in s19 until I saw the programmer figure - a figure which, if i’d just heard the name of, I could have dismissed. Yet she comes with those legs, great new face prints, *and* an easy way to get that new hair piece. Thanks for doing the extensive listing, it’s interesting to see these in the round, and it does show how some themes are less or better represented than we often think! I’ll be commiserating with you when we get a themed series that just gives us a new ‘space kitty’ mould, though of course. ?

Indeed. And it’s a figure with leg printing, a printed fabric towel piece, a recoloured duck accessory and two face prints. Hardly scrimping.
