  1. Oh I would definitely like to see all such as 16-in-1 (or more) sets make a return. I think that the designers of the time did their best according to some secret internal stipulation of what non-specialised bricks were and that they must use them, and through that avoidance of relying on special moulds, they spawned the Creator theme wot got me out of my third Dark Age. When the Classic theme made a return, I got wet eyeballs upon remembering the polybags and multibuild sets from the criminally brief Designer period. They absolutely do that thing that they did back then which I am having a bit of trouble describing.
  2. THE TITANS OF DESIGNER SETS and some essential entries in the history of BIG multibuild sets. Almostbutnotquite Model Team, these are still excellent builds after almost 15 years. Nearly crapped my kecks when CREATOR Expert happened and then this. I thought my favourite displaymeats were going to die out forever. EDIT: Oh yeah, I need reasons. I want other people to enjoy building, seeing and having them. That's it!
  3. I sort of forgot about that place, but yes, this is probably best if you think the prices on that there ebay are squeezing yer bladder and running away with the juice.
  4. As a Wirral Lad growing up in the 80s, even I knew LEGO was based in Denmark. Wrexham was just a licenced moulding factory. No information as to where complete sets were packed for shop shelves back then. I do miss those little Service leaflets though, despite the convenience of Bricks & Pieces. Also, it's worth asking at the LEGO shops for anything specific you want, as long as it's still being manufactured / in stock. The staff there will even dig around in the storeroom for something if your mention of it triggers a recent memory of seeing it.
  5. We're finally getting invisible sets, nice!
  6. 3x7. Trust me on this. Those expecting 2x5 snotgreen mini-panels just from a glance at the cab may also be disappointed. Don't forget, we're looking at grainy shots from a catalogue where our expectations can be more warped than the specific part of the page the pic appears on. I'm seeing a tangle of blue between the white lifting mechanism and the bum-end of this strange mantis, which suggests hoses and / or colour-coded support beams for them (like that cute Volvo digger we just had). Aventador's observation on the macaroni bits sounds reasonable enough to be correct.
  7. ^ And for a bonus ten points, what is the typical colour for the hoses that supply those valves with air? Clue: it's not Dark Azure.
  8. Just popping in to say that "Skogsmaskin" is a fantastic word for anything, and that those Earth Green bits had BETTA be in the final thing because I have a bunch of other parts in that colour waiting to welcome them. Okay bye and merry chrimblings
  9. Ahh, the good ol' Olympic Triskelion!
  10. I'll definitely be motorising that binwagon - the manual functions look rather laborious. 42039: "hey just give me an actual minute to lift up this engine cover"
  11. They looked almost like New Dark Red in those "video" screencaps that got people speculating about Medium Blue. Again, if these official images have been manipulated to make it look like a colour you won't be actually be getting, then it's seriously misleading, and I don't believe they would do that. Pics of the B model clearly show standard Bright Blue used on the seats with slightly lighter 4x2 beams securing them at the back. Those 4x2 beams are also visible on the seats in the very image you posted. I wanted more Medium Blue parts as much as anybody else, but we're just not getting them from this particular model.
  12. I have a jelly mould in my own craven image!
  13. Funnily enough, that's exactly how I determined it to be Dark Azur, because the contrast between the blue pegs and the surrounding panels is exactly the same as in 42070 and 42074 - they're almost the same saturation. Comparing further with 42066 where the standard blue "pops out" more only confirms it. Some folks seem to have got their hopes up from those images a few pages back (which are now mysteriously gone). S@H's 42077 page is using all the other images we've been getting, and I'll eat my face if those turn out to be misleading too.
  14. My sympathies to those of you who were looking forward to some new Medium Blue parts.
  15. Here is an excessively large image showing a standard DBG diff (and a black 5x7 frame!) Also, that shock absorber appears to be a standard yellow one.
  16. Nice spot, I wouldn't mind if it turned out to be something like a 5x9 though :B
  17. You are my new best fiend for even KNOWING about this.
  18. It's Dark Azur, compare the areas where blue 3M pegs are visible to pictures of 42070.
  19. I want that little blue dune buggy in my hands.
  20. Imagine the chicken drumstick shape as his forearms whoah
  21. Stepped on an upturned UK three-pin electrical plug while trying to avoid a brick.
  22. I'd go for 41999; it shares an almost identical chassis with 9398, and the white / black / orange parts to reconstitute the bodywork are abundant.
