Because of a combination of: they will be covered up the grey part is already in the set it makes finding the parts slightly easier (especially if similar parts are in the set)
-
It is the internet. People make stuff up to get clicks.
-
They don't always list it, as this data is frequentlymissing. They only list it when designers 'claim' the sets.

From what was posted in the BL forum, it seems most of the hacked accounts that were changed were fairly dormant. Some had recent feedback but mainly from newly set up accounts. And the scam worked by removing paypal as a payment option, then getting people into the store with too good to be true prices and getting them to pay with bank transfer. Clearly someone knew what they were doing, as some of it is bricklink specific. For example, newer seller accounts must retain paypal as a payment option, hence using older accounts. How they got the passwords to those accounts is the big issue here. The ransomware type demand seems to be quite different. There didn't seem to be any sellers having stores deleted prior to the demand, in fact the opposite, with individual hacked stores having high value sets added and in at least one case high value sets parted out to make it look like usual behaviour. It wouldn't surprise me if the ransomware demand was someone being opportunistic and not necessarily connected with the other hacked accounts. If they had posted using a large and active store's account, it might have been more believable that they had control of any account. I imagine they have hacked accounts through external phishing or reused passwords rather than hacking the BL site.

Or they did their best based on the design brief and parts available. I guess we won't find out who the designer is, but I imagine they will have worked on other similar sets.

Sure, it would look better if it had dragon plumes on the building. But they don't exist. Why does that mean the designer has no taste, or understand the original set? If those two plumes were replaced with the original dragon plumes, the new set would be close to perfect. I cannot see how the designer could have improved this design if those parts were not going to be reproduced. Including a brick built dragon would not have reproduced the small dragons any better than using plumes. A couple of blue clips to try to reproduce them at tge same scale would not look good. I haven't seen what is inside yet, maybe there is some homage in there. Whether there is or not, I'm sure there will be people that enjoy this set. Whereas people that think this GWP is the worst castle set ever made can just time their purchases to get a different GWP and not suffer by being forced to have something worse than the jelly bean knights in their collection.

The timing is not great. They have just now emailed October invoices for seller fees that cannot be paid. Their lack of communication is often poor but doing an invoice run now just adds to their incompetence when it comes to communication.

Some of the people that paid hacked stores by bank transfer reported in the BL forum that the transfers went to European accounts.

Do you really think LEGO designers cannot make sets without using BURPs? The original set used BURPs, so it makes sense the remake does too, given they are still in production. That MOC is nice, but it has over 830 parts. To bring that number down to a level suitable for a GWP means a building half the size. You are then not comparing like with like.

There is a door in both the original and the remake. It may not be a regular opening door but that is something that I like about this set - both the original and the remake. Part of the fun of this set is that it is fairly unique in terms of how the insides of the build are accessed. It is not an open back set, or a lift off roof, it was a hinged set that splits right down the middle. Plus it is Majisto's Magical Workshop. Maybe the door is a decoy to make it look like a regular building, when the magical part is that it opens by splitting the building in half instead of using a boring old door like regular people. As to the BURPs, they were also in the original and to you it may be over reliance on these but to others they are an integral part of the original. They massively cut down on the number of parts necessary for the set, they mean the set can have a large interior space and be reasonably quick to build. To you they may be faults, but if they had changed these aspects, then it wouldn't really be a remake of the original set. Of course, anyone can MOC a magical workshop where it does not have the splitting open feature, or make it split from the side, or have it open back or a lift off roof, and they could have an opening door if the front doesn't split and they could get rid of the BURPs and instead use a few hundred extra parts to recreate the interior space. But that wouldn't be a remake of the original. It would be something totally different. Given nothing important is exclusive to the set (aside from the torso that so many people seem to hate already), if you don't like the GWP then MOC your own workshop.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 25. Rumors and discussion

I imagine the goat will be very expensive to start with, but then drop and plateau at higher than RRP but not too high, once the initial frenzy is over.- 574 replies

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
MAB replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
I've had that happen twice. In one case, the order sat longer than normal and was eventually fulfilled. In the other, the out of stock parts were cancelled. I guess it depends if parts are due to come back into stock. -

I guess we will find out in just over two weeks. -
What do you mean by translate? As this one is a very close copy of the original that translates from old parts to new parts quite well (aside from the missing helmet parts and shield). Your alternative suggestions, with four figures or two plus a horse, are unrealistic for a GWP unless the threshold is even higher. I'd prefer they keep doing these nostalgia sets (and make them as close as possible to the originals) than not do them and instead have more things like houses of the world. Why do you think it would be a sticker?

Aside from the knight's helmet, I think it looks quite good. It looks very similar to the original with a few updates where necessary. No doubt the whole front including the door splits open hinged from the back (like the original) and so it will be interesting to see the inside. Majisto was always going to be a boring plain figure based on the LKC and I didn't get my hopes up about getting a new or reintroduced vintage helmet or plume so i am not even that shocked there. I'll get more of the torso when they appear on PAB.

That looks great. I think my favourite part is the lipstick for the bird's beak.

Which characters were referenced by these previous CMFs???
MAB replied to hikouki's topic in Special LEGO Themes
***Spoiler alert*** Icarus would have been too heavy to fly even if completely naked. Myths aren't real. Many CMF might be inspired by characters from popular culture or history, but they can be whoever you like. The winged warrior could fit in many fantasy settings, or be based on Hermes. -

With just 108 (new and used) sold worldwide on bricklink in the past six months, I doubt there is much of a bubble. There will probably be some small difference that allows the original goats to be distinguished and the old ones will hold value even if the volume of sales decreases even more. I'll buy maybe 3-4 goats. That is easily enough for any setting where I'd use them. I think the outfit the goat herder has is more interesting than the goat for me. Decent hood, hopefully a good peasant torso and nice trousers and boots. This series certainly has some interesting parts although some of the characters are a little bit bizarre. What is the fish guy? The eagle torso woman (I don'tknow what she is meant to be with the keyboard and trophy) might be useful for castle. I need a better look at the dog - he looks quite fancy - so maybe that might also be useful for historical MOCs with royal or rich figures. It could also be useful on a tan / dark tan / brown head or round bricks for large mushrooms in a fantasy setting. -
I'm the same. Personally, I think we now have enough blues and purples when it comes to bricks, but I'd like to see an equivalent to medium blue in green, red, grey and brown (the new medium brown would be fine). For me, so long as the colour has a decent coverage of 1xX bricks and plates, typically 1x1, 1x2 and 1x4 and some with stud(s) on the side then they become useful. Getting 1x3, 1x6 and 1x8 is also nice but not essential, same for bricks with clips, etc. One more green, grey and brown would be enough for me but shades of red in particular seem to be under-represented.

What next vintage set could be recreated by TLG ?
MAB replied to Khargeust's topic in General LEGO Discussion
What would the point of it be? Nostalgic vintage themes like Castle, Classic Space and Pirates are still popular with active communities. Whereas vintage Town is not really very popular. It has been overtaken by City for kids and Modulars for adults. Town (and Legoland before it) has never really gone away, it has just continually evolved. If they add more buildings not in the original set, it is either just a street of quite poor models done using very old design style or if using modern techniques and parts, a City set. -
What date was this change, even to the nearest decade? I enjoy GBC and I hope LEGO never make GBC sets. GBC are great because they are fan designed and not official LEGO. The standards are community set. As soon as LEGO makes two GBC sets that need to be connected together they will have made an official collectable series, probably to a different standard design, and likely to be way inferior to the many fan designed existing modules. GBC is a mature enough fan design community that it does not need LEGO interfering in it, trying to make money from what has become an open community owned idea.

If it looks like modern City design with new road plates, then that is just another City set.
