It may seem simple but that would mean that they have to have a licensing deal for The Hobbit in place again and we don't know if that is the case. It might also be that Warner don't want The Hobbit sets now that it is no longer a current movie or one where there is a large fanbase, where the toys help drive advertising for the movies and vice versa. I rarely see any merchandise for The Hobbit these days, whereas I still see LOTR merchandise for sale. It would also need agreement that they can include both movie trilogies within the same product. I cannot remember seeing much merchandise in the past where this was done. Even though it is the same studio / distributor, sometimes they want to keep their properties distinct from each other.

This is an unlicensed topic, so I'm comparing Castle factions with other Castle factons and not licensed themes.

Bag End is The Hobbit and not LOTR if it comes with Thorin's company as it was suggested. A LOTR version of Bag End would be a little boring when it comes to minifigures, as we have already had the four hobbits in shire clothes, plenty of Gandalf, and hobbit hair is on PAB so generic hobbits are easy to make. It would have to be a very good model if the figure selection is repetitive. Whereas other locations with relatively new figures (even if repeated from the original sets) would be more attractive. Of course, other locations should also be good builds and not just minifigs with poor builds.

Yes, he mentioned sealing the sides with tape. They'll still eat away the cardboard.
-
There is a store with that name on BL, also in Canada, quite low seller feedback too.
-
Sealing the boxes won't do anything. They eat cardboard. If they are in your wardrobe it is because you are hoarding cardboard in there.

It seems to have survived.

Ask the producer on youtube.

I doubt they can replace the minifig with something new. It represents LEGO too much now that they could not change it. The replacement of the old greys 20 years ago would be nothing compared to if they changed the design of the minifig. Even a small change like using realistic shaped hands or heads could kill their sales.

There have been plenty of cases of people here speculating and posting wants lists without indicating that they are speculating and posting wants lists.

It won't please everyone. There will be arguments about whether it should have the male or female head shown on the box, and in the instructions, and then whether it should be catalogued at Bricklink as a male or female character. There have been similar arguments in the past where two heads are supplied in sets such as this one: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=5004931-1 and this one https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=850791-1. And then this set https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=21337-1 where all the figures were catalogued as female as this is how they first appear in the instructions. Would you be pleased if all the figures in the Lion Knights Castle if all the figures are shown first as female even if you can change them to male?

Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
MAB replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
They are all Castle figures of the past. I've used all three in taverns before. Hopefully we will get similar peasant parts again, both male and female. These torsos and skirts were all available on the replacement parts service for about 50p each for a couple of years. That's how I boosted my village at the time. Nearly all sold now though, when the prices went crazy. -

Would a medieval barmaid look any different to one of these ... -
So don't place an order during this promo window, when you can get two boxed sets at the threshold needed for this set, possibly other promos depending on the theme, double insider points, and discounts on popular sets like Medieval Blacksmith and a retiring modular, at a busy time when many people will be buying for Christmas presents.

I don't think the threshold for this set is that high, when you consider how many GWPs stack at the same time. The difference between this threshold and the threshold for the winter GWP set you at the same time is not that large, at £70 or $80. £150 gets you the winter set, an extra £70 gets the Castle. Even if you average them, there is a £110 threshold for each. I don't think that is bad for a GWP set that would probably sell for ~£30.

The price really depends on what you want from a set. No doubt you can get most of the parts to build it for a relatively low cost as they are all fairly basic parts. But do you want the whole set including box or instructions? Some collectors do, and some collectors want the set to be sealed. Whereas builders tend to care far less about the box and instructions. It is the same with vintage sets. There is quite low demand for the parts for vintage sets (unless those parts only appeared in one or a few sets). You can buy most of the parts for many small vintage sets for a low cost. That is why vintage sets with boxes and instructions typically sell for a large premium compared to the parts. If anyone wants a remake of any vintage set that doesn't have hugely expensive retired parts that LEGO wouldn't remake for a modern set anyway, rather than wait for a remake they are better off buying the parts and substituting any they cannot find.

There is a lot more I'd put in front of Fright Knights. That's the problem with what "we" want. "I" and "we" often want very different things.
-
That is a common feeling across a lot of LEGO sets these days. Even when you accept that LEGO is expensive there are still cases when they get the pricing wrong for a set that might be in demand if priced right. But in this case, for reasons already mentioned the set (as a set, not a parts pack) seems to be struggling to find an audience.
-
That is what they are doing when they are increasing the ratio of female to male characters across a number of themes. They have the sales data to know if it is helping to shift more product.

And it is medieval based fantasy regardless of how many women are in it, so what is your point? You get other sets when you order them and get this GWP added.

Of course. Although even there, LEGO can mess up. The aforementioned Romans and Spartans, for example, they introduce nice parts which make the independents' parts look out of place, then don't do anything with them. I can then understand the independents moving mainly to areas LEGO won't touch such as modern warfare.

Watch just about any 15 or 18 rating 70s or 80s sword and sorcery movie and it is not that far from Game of Thrones, whereas there were also plenty of movies aimed at kids in the genre too. The crossing in to soft core porn aspect of GoT was more to do with being made by HBO and not because it was Medieval fantasy genre. Just about everything HBO made at a similar time seemed to follow the same pattern. Rome, Vinyl, True Blood, True Detective, etc.

It comes up for just about every theme, not just Castle. So long as Castle allows them to add a little more petrol to one of their Ferraris, they will keep making Castle.
