Where was the news ? (lol) For 2011 it is HF exclusively. We have been busy on this theme, which I'm not doubting you have already guessed. I was committed 100 % to that theme. But I help where it's needed, and like to do System parts too, which I actually is doing right now. This also give me a chance to work with other designers etc, building new friendships while actually getting a job done. Front aka Erland

As a Part Designer I can declare 2011 as the coolest year ever. Sets are awesome, parts even cooler I only got a single Hero Factory set on my table, but really look forward to adding a Skeleton fighting a Ninja soon. What will happen if 2012 is even better, 2013 will add a bit on top of it, and 2014 will define sligtly higher levels ? Will we explode ? Front aka Erland

Hey wait. Actually I don't think the suspension works on the TRXProject bike, without slight strain on the parts. This is due to the fact that the revolution axis of the steering bar and the axis of the fork (through the two wishbone balls) is not colinear for every value of suspension-travel. Because of this a ball joint is needed where the two yellow links are jointed. On the real bike I think the joint is a revolution joint which allows for small misalignments in the revolution joint.

Nicely done video. The last but one scene was worth waiting for. -
LEGO Customer Service: How long do I wait?
Front replied to BearHeart's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Costumer Service might have been very busy sending out replacement parts for the Technic 8043 set. I would suggest to give it a few more days before contacting them again. If it's not urgent -
I'm pretty sure you can use that mask. It's great for a villain

8043 Excavator - Lego update
Front replied to tomacwhite's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Maybe we could try and set up a measure of the performance of the excavator. With all Linear Actuators at minimum lenght (boom fully extended) measure the time it takes to fully extend the two inner LA's, though only activating that single function. With improved LA's and Energizer Industrial used for about 2 weeks mine does it in about 13.0 seconds. -

Inside the new LA

Let's be clear: there has never been a Technic set where the Linear Actuator was under any bending forces other than what the weight of the actuator itself applied. -

His name is Nicholas Groves and here is something about him: Nicholas G. on Coroflot He is a very nice guy. Don't speak much Danish though -
Only 2010 exist. For now. I was actually able to help the designers with their work, by making the first 3D models of the Breeze and Stormer masks, based on some simple sketches. Later the designers worked a bit more on the masks, changing stuff and adding details. But my normal work is the "boring" process of making a designers ideas for real in plastic.

I am not a set designer, I engineer parts and are called a Part Designer. Let me design a set and you are on the straight tracks towards closing down the action figure business.

If you by the last few years of Bionicle mean the last ten years, then I agree

8043 Excavator - Lego update
Front replied to tomacwhite's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree. I built the 8295 Telescopic Handler this summer, and was quite surprised to experience how tedious it was to raise the boom. It both took a lot of revolutions of the input gear, but more importantly quite some torque at the same time. And to answer Zblj: It's all about friction, nothing else has changed. -

Lower friction can be felt if you put a LA under pressure in your hand and then turn the input axle. With the old one a higher torque is required to turn the input, given a fixed axial force. -

Make sure to tell LEGO that you are not happy about the printing (offset). -
I like the torso and limbs on all of them.

I just went through the slideshow on flickr. It is a really nice moc. The detail you've put into the vehicle, even the bottom, is impressive. The way you build the surroundings, like some kind of micro scale, is very attractive. Superb !

What a great idea, and you managed to make a fun movie out of it too. -
8043 Excavator - Lego update

I built a fresh set 8043 yesterday, it took me four hours including a pizza and a beer. I regard this as fast building and guess I did well considering that it's a fairly complicated set. My 8043 function well, and even the boom lift up without any struggle what so ever. Great job LEGO Technic Front aka Erland, Part Design
