Adults not allowed! - LEGOLand Discovery Centres
Rook replied to happymark's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Not surprised I work in Justice Services and this is classic case of media instilling fear and then companies passing policies that don't actually solve any thing. But it makes the masses feel safe and therefore business can go on as usual. If you really NEED to go that bad I suggest going with a friend of the family and their kid(s). I'll be taking my best friend and his son when Toronto's open up. -
Need a dust rag more than anything!

Another case of plagiarism?
Rook replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah my only issue with plagiarism is when someone use instructions designed by someone or just simply uses someone else's image and calls it their own. Beyond that people are going copy and alter other peoples’ building techniques. And making a model of a similar item in a similar scale will result in similar techniques hopefully in the end similar appearance. -

Doesn't look close enough to me. The only part that is similar is the front end and could simply be inspired by yours. There's too much to call it copy in my opinion. One the best ways of learning to build better is by trying to build what you see in someone else's work or in real life. -
Wow that's nuts we go without Lego in the whole country for what seemed like forever, and then we get basically 4 places within 20 minutes of each other within 24 months! O.o QEW, 401, 404, & 400. That's every major route into the largest city in the country.

Looks kind of Japanime. I'd go with one the exo-force heads.

Ah that is frakking beautiful. Love all it takes is a few AFOLs to blast some holes into hours of research.

Are you actually a "Rolf" or just some creepy stalker?

Ah I was away on business that week. No wonder I missed it. Did they announce who won?
-
Yeah I'll be at the build. I'm just going to make sure that whoever gets the job has to earn it. The pay is just enough that I'm interested, but the hours and commute would mean a change in lifestyle. So if I won, which is unlikely since at least two other "Master Builders" will be there, I might still turn down the job. If I lived closer to Vaughn Mills I'd be all over this 100% and out for blood! As it stands now I just want to have fun and if I get lucky and win I'll have to make a big life changing decision. I'm kind of hoping Si-MOCs or DarthNick or someone else smokes me on the building and then I don't have to think about it, and I can just be happy to have participated. Since I'm mainly a ship builder, I think Si-MOCs and DarthNIck have strong advantage against me. See you all tomorrow.

Ok I'm calling "bluff"! I'm changing my avatar. 3 weeks is too long. Nations have risen and fallen in less time than that.

I feel dirty. Can I go wash myself of the non-Lego-ness. I like seeing that there's brands competing with Lego. Having a sub area within discussion area isn't a horrible idea. But you'll still never see me buying any of it.

Yep it's time of the year, Black Friday, Turkey Day, cold rain, "Mo"vember, and yes VicVipers. :D VicViper: Novvember Vain by RΟΟK, on Flickr VicViper: Novvember Vain by RΟΟK, on Flickr VicViper: Novvember Vain by RΟΟK, on Flickr VicViper: Novvember Vain by RΟΟK, on Flickr

Congrats, I'll be see you at some point then. I'm little busy between now and Christmas but in the New Year I'm sure I'll get over to that end of town.

Yeah that’s why I was being “impatient”. It’s been over for a week now so that’s ¼ of the time of the next month’s theme. :/

So... we gonna vote now?

Not custom. She's all official Lego. If she were custom I would have given her some sexy hips.

HERO: Jean Grey's Phoenix Fire Built this for a contest over on FBTB. Thought I share it here too. "Though Jean’s loyalties where almost always her own. She clearly tended to do good when she was with the X-Men. Here you can see her in classic green and yellow spandex. Mmm hmm." Love it! Love that you used an alien too. Put in to bricks now! :')

Combining the celebration of Christ’s birth and All Saints' Day and then viewing them through our twisted view of modern secularization. Yikes. Makes me wonder what people will think of July 4th, Bastille Day, Remembrance Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and other more “recent” holidays in several hunder years. Wonder if on July 4th everyone will dress as zombies and eat red meat and set peoples houses on fire, Bastille Day if everyone will wear pink slippers and walk backwards, Remembrance… wait who am I kidding, majority people already have no clue what that is. However the MOC itself is amusing and creative. Might be kind of cool to have a Holiday Mash Up Contest. Take any two holidays and mash them into a MOC.

Eyes bigger than your stomach (or bricks)?
Rook replied to BrickG's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Build small. Perfect the art. Then explore larger and larger models. Then finally once you've jumped into to something too big just suck it up and spend the money needed to complete the project. And never ever ever build something that big again... for at least 6 months. XD
