  1. The "rehabilitation" of the PT is only because of a specific generation that grew up with them and are nostalgically blind to their faults or nostalgic specifically because of those faults. They were critically reviled when they came out by critics and audiences alike. The ST, at least the first two films, were critical and commercial successes and only the final installment was a letdown. So no, the ST isn't universally hated. TFA wouldn't be the highest grossing movie of all time domestically if that was the case. Does it get a lot of hatred online by a vocal minority, yes. But general audiences and casuals don't spend all their time online hating on the ST. They watched it and that's that, they've moved on. TCW is a kids show watched mainly by kids and hardcore fans. The average viewer hasn't even heard of the show, let alone watched it. TCW movie was a flop if I remember correctly or at least underperformed. When Solo came out, I remember the general audience reaction was how is Darth Maul alive? Didn't he die in TPM? This is the general audience reaction because 90% of them won't ever have seen TCW to know Maul was resurrected there. Film franchises like this always have hardcore fans but they can't exist on the fandoms alone. TFA was able to make as much money as it did by relying on general audiences and casual fans. This is also what hurt Fantastic Beasts. The first film was a hit with general audiences, but every successive installment was losing casual audiences and relying on just hardcore fans. Also HP is more popular abroad so FB was underperforming domestically in the US, while still succeeding in Europe and Asia where it's a lot more popular. So TCW market for Lego sets is because of that millennial generation that grew up with the PT and TCW and now has a steady income to spend on those sets. The OT generation is getting older and older and not as marketable anymore. This also connects back to what I said about how we're getting more HP sets now, more then a decade after the movies ended, than when they were actually coming out. It's because a generation of millennials who grew up with HP are now of age where they have a steady income to spend on nostalgia. It's not a coincidence that the HP movies came out at the same time as the Star Wars PT, so this is definitely a market catering to that generation.
  2. Actually yes, I wouldn't want Hermione and Ron without their kids. They included Harry and Ginny's kids so they should have the whole extended family. For that matter, considering how important Scorpius Malfoy and Draco are in Cursed Child, particularly in connection to Albus Severus Potter, I also feel they needed to include Scorpius, Draco, and Astoria. We're never going to get Cursed Child sets so this was the closest to getting a representation of that. Prequel series have mostly flopped. The Star Wars PT and The Hobbit films are good examples, and Fantastic Beasts fell into that trap as well. You could tell WB's heart wasn't into it and what they really wanted to make was a sequel series to HP, like Cursed Child. Because the Star Wars ST showed that what fans want is to see the original actors back again. This is why HBO heavily promoted the Harry Potter reunion because it was the closest to getting that feeling of bringing all the major actors back together again. The problem with a sequel series, like Cursed Child is two-fold. What I've heard is that the original cast refuse to return, like Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe, because they don't want to work with JK Rowling ever again. And JK's deal with WB is that she can't be pushed out and she has final say on what projects can be made or can't be made, so there's no getting rid of her. The other issue is that JK herself doesn't want a Cursed Child film. One, because she feels a film will make the play irrelevant and the play's been a major financial success all over the globe, so I understand her feeling a film version would hurt that. And the other reason is because she herself doesn't want to work with the original cast ever again after she felt they snubbed her. And she's basically admitted as much when she randomly claimed she would never accept apologies from Emma or Dan, despite neither of them showing any interest in wanting her forgiveness. So this is where the reboot idea made sense because prequels have flopped. Sequels would be ideal but if the original cast refuses to work with JKR and she refuses to work with them, and in general she won't allow a Cursed Child movie adaptation because it'll hurt the play, so that really only leaves a reboot. WB knows they can't utilize the original cast anymore for nostalgia so they're depending on remaking the series anew to basically restart the process. WB's biggest success was with the Harry Potter films so this gives them a chance to do that again while for JK, it's a chance to sever ties with the original cast. Even with LOTR, you can tell that WB would definitely make sequels with the original cast if there was source material or if they felt they could get away with it. Since they can't, they're relying a midquel set where the first LOTR movie begins, because it's the only way to bring the original cast back and appeal to that nostalgia. I've seen that hairpiece as well. They could potentially have made the molded hearing devices a separate piece that click into slots on the side. Like how many of the Friends hairpieces have a slot for hairbows, flowers, crowns, etc. on the top or sides. I had to look up that book and yes, the medieval wheelchair looks quite well done. Surprised Lego hasn't introduced that in a Castle set.
  3. Isn't Sesame Street a PBS show? The HP movie series was known for having the cream of the crop of British actors. So many Dames and Sirs. Even some of the untitled ones, like Helen McCrory, passed away too young before she could be granted a damehood. Each of those actors was a living legend in the UK whereas just look at the new cast now. John Lithgow is the only big name and he's American, not even British. It's obvious they aren't able to attract that same caliber of talent, either because they already used most of them up for the movies, or because the few who didn't work in HP simply aren't interested. 2-3 big names is nothing compared to the entire lineup of big names in the movies: Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Richard Harris, Emma Thompson, Gary Oldman, John Hurt, Brendan Gleeson, Jim Broadbent, Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Kenneth Branagh, Julie Christie, etc. I could keep going on with more and more names because there's just so many. They really added to the prestige of the films so to go from an all-star lineup to what we're getting now is an obvious downgrade. I think that's why John Lithgow did say yes. He's almost 80 so this role will keep him booked for almost a decade and likely the rest of his life. What I've heard is that Disney specifically decides which sets Lego can make and which minifigures can be included. I think this includes all the Disney properties or at least Marvel. I know with the Daily Bugle that Lego was filling it with generic citizens but Disney/Marvel said no and demanded that every character be an existing one. This is why the Gwen Stacy minifigure looks nothing like her besides being blonde. It was just a random blonde minifigure but Marvel made Lego name her Gwen Stacy. And characters Lego wanted to include, like Deadpool, Iceman, Human Torch, and Spider-Woman/Jessica Drew weren't allowed because of Marvel. This is also why whenever any Lego Ideas set wins that's Disney-themed, they have to get extra permission and can't confirm right away if the set will be made or not. You said they should keep the Hogwarts castle consistent because millions of people recognize it as the movie one. But isn't that true for everything about the movies, like millions of people recognizing Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter? And Emma Watson as Hermione? By that logic, wouldn't it make more sense to simply keep the movies that millions of people have seen and recognized and not bother with this reboot at all? Thanks for confirming. The fact that they were just existing parts they could throw in makes it worse because I have no problem with them including freebies. They could have included those two characters, who were basically free of charge, will still giving us Hermione and Ron. They shouldn't use diversity as a scapegoat, basically telling people to shut up and accept the major snubs all in the name of diversity.
  4. It makes sense in the regular themes like Friends and City. I remember seeing a character with a hearing aid in a Friends set. But this push for diversity and representation doesn't always work in fantasy. As pointed out, Hogwarts is not a school designed to accommodate students in wheelchairs. And frankly, people get more turned off by forced diversity when Lego goes out of their way to push it by taking away from iconic characters they actually care about. Creating two random and nameless characters for the D2C Hogwarts Express, just to be diverse, at the cost of a grownup Hermione and Ron was ridiculous. We're unlikely to ever get that epilogue scene represented in Lego ever again. That was a one and done deal to get grownup versions of the main characters, but Lego felt pushing diversity was more important. They could have chosen any set to include characters like that, so I don't know why they felt the need to specifically sabotage this train set. And they wonder why it won't sell. Granted, it had plenty of other issues but losing out on grown Hermione and Ron for two randos was certainly a factor of disinterest. I've wondered about the regrowing limbs thing. Voldemort was able to do it for Wormtail but it wasn't flesh and blood. Was he incapable of creating an organic arm because magic can't regrow limbs in HP, or did he just think a silver hand was more of a reward? Maybe also because it was one he could control.
  5. I hope this is a proper greenhouse from the exterior and not interchangeable with the Charms or Potions classrooms, to be swapped out at will. I was very confused by the student in a wheelchair in the Ollivander's set. I don't think any characters exist with that type of physical disability in the books or movies. But I also heard it was meant to be a tribute to David Holmes, Daniel Radcliffe's stunt double who was paralyzed. So I don't mind if that's the case.
  6. The Peter Pan set was actually based on the original Disney movie. The remake had one set, which was one of those storybook sets usually made for the Disney Princess line. But I'm not surprised the regular Peter Pan set sold badly considering how overpriced it was, and considering there was only one new minifigure and two reused ones that could be found in a much cheaper set from earlier that year. And even that one new minifigure, Wendy, was incomplete as they didn't bother to give her a bow for her hair like in her minidoll version. As for the clamshell, I think a lot of people were upset that it wasn't covered up in the back. It was also a weird medley of scenes without doing justice to anything in particular, like Ariel's grotto, Ursula's lair, or King Triton's palace. It reminds me of Percy Jackson being blonde in the Disney show, instead of having black hair. Those were the illustrations by Mary GrandPre right? I grew up with her art in the books. I never watched the HBO teaser for the show but I think it used the movie theme so people were speculating that the show will similarly use at least the iconic Hedwig's Theme. I wouldn't put it past HBO. The teaser also used the movie castle and if they do want to keep it consistent with the theme parks, that might be something they keep. Co-opting everything iconic from the movies only shows how there's no legitimate reason for this show to exist. I also heard that the Hogwarts Legacy sequel is somehow supposed to tie-in with the HBO show. I have no idea how, since the Hogwarts Legacy game takes place long before the books/movies, so how could a sequel directly tie-in with the show? I'm wondering if they'll take the castle design from the game for the show. It's basically identical to the movie Hogwarts from the exterior but the interior does have some new places and changes, even if some locations are pretty much identical like the Great Hall, DADA classroom, and Gryffindor common room. If the game is linked with the show, it does seem to confirm that WB wants to keep the iconic Hogwarts imagery and music. John Williams also scored the third movie. Maybe they'll bring back the frog choir and Double Trouble. Actually that reminds me that we've never gotten a HP set featuring the frog choir.
  7. Agreed. I think that might also be why they've loosened up the requirements on needing to be British to be cast in the show. Besides the fact that most of Britain's prestigious actors have already worked in HP, I'm guessing it also hasn't been easy to find actors willing to be attached to this project. Both because agreeing to sign onto this show is essentially the same as tacitly endorsing JK's views, and also because I imagine most actors with any sense realize that a remake of a much beloved classic, which still remains globally relevant today, is like embarking on a sinking ship. Even John Lithgow basically said this will be his last relevant role ever, so he seems to be viewing it from that lens but for the rest of the comparatively younger cast, it's a full decade of being signed onto something that likely won't be accepted and will be forever linked to a controversial public figure who keeps getting more offensive over time. The show was also sold on the premise that it would cover everything the movies couldn't cover and be book accurate. But the castings alone prove that book accuracy isn't of any interest. On top of that, one of the show's writers apparently bragged about never reading the books. And I've heard they plan on still using the iconic John Williams score and filming in the same locations and sets as the movies, so if that's true, this means the remake will be co-opting the iconic imagery of the movies because they're still the definitive take. From a merchandising point of view, it doesn't make much sense to erase the movies which continue to sell merchandise to this day. Hence why we have threads with pages and pages talking about the Lego HP sets here. In fact, we've gotten more sets for this franchise since the movies came out than when they were actually first coming out. Universal also has their theme parks all across the world themed to the movies. I'm assuming WB doesn't have any connection to the Harry Potter theme park rights, which might explain why WB doesn't care about the lack of synergy with their new show and the Universal parks. That does make me afraid that WB might push for Lego HP sets based on the movie to be phased out for the show, in order to justify their new creation. I'm also not sure if WB has a similar deal with Lego as Disney does, where Disney is the one that decides what sets are to be made and which characters are to be included. If WB demands only sets made on the show instead of the HP movies, does Lego have to comply to keep the license or do they have the power to overrule that and keep making movie sets which have proven to be a tried-and-tested property? I think HP is Lego's second biggest franchise after Star Wars, so I can't see Lego endangering that if they have any choice in the matter. It's rather tragic that Robbie Coltrane wouldn't live much longer after stating those words.
  8. JK Rowling made such a big deal out of not casting Americans for the movies, so it's rather interesting that she's dropped that now. Rumors are that she's pushing for this reboot because of her anger at the young film cast for not supporting her ideologically, and basically wants to wipe out their legacy and start over with a more impressionable young cast beholden to her, more like Evanna Lynch than like Emma Watson or Daniel Radcliffe. Both castings have been odd so far. American Lithgow, who is already older than Richard Harris was at the time of his death, and a black Snape. I presume this will just be the first of many racial recastings and one of the trio will probably be racebent, probably Hermione. That could lead to the problem of selling HP movie sets while also selling HP Max sets, where some of the characters look completely different and don't synergize. We know Marvel specifically told Lego they didn't want to make minifigs of MJ from the Spider-Man comics, because she conflicted with the black MJ from the MCU. I wonder if WB might do something similar where they stop making merchandise of the racebent characters in their original white incarnations, so as to not detract from the new versions.
  9. That's clever. It is a dress after all. Belle wearing her blue dress during the Be Our Guest scene is part of the problem here. If Lego did make a new minifigure to depict that, they'd also need to create a complementary sitting version for the dining table. So we just like we get two of her gold dresses (one standing, one sitting), we'd need two of her blue dresses (also one sitting and one standing). And I can't see Lego going that route to essentially include four versions of Belle in one set.
  10. I hope we get the Disneyland Paris Sleeping Beauty castle instead of the regular Disneyland one. The Paris one is the most impressive and my personal favorite of the castles. But I wouldn't be shocked if the next Disney Castle is just the regular one "upgraded" again, whenever the current one is retired.
  11. It seemed like wishful thinking to assume there'd be something as major as a whole new minifigure/dress hidden away. Not to mention, even if it was another of Belle's dresses, it wouldn't work with her current hairpiece. She wears a ponytail with all her other dresses so there would need to be a new hairpiece and head included as well. There are existing ponytail molds but none of them really look like Belle's ponytail, and she'd need a slot to stick in a bow. It's funny how even the minidoll Belles have never featured a new ponytail hairpiece for her, even with her blue dress adapted as a minidoll.
  12. Considering they didn't give Rogue a new hair mold and just used the generic female hair they love to give almost all Marvel heroines, I don't hold out much hope for Thor. But something similar to the Jane Foster minifig, but without the helmet covering up the face, would be nice. I can see Daredevil himself being brought back in a future set, especially once the Daily Bugle retires. If not the same identical minifigure, then a new variation. Like you said, dark red, or maybe even in black or his original yellow to distinguish him even more. I don't think Moon Knight would be completely impossible either, even if he's a lot less connected to Spider-Man and his rogues gallery. When was Genosha a base for the X-Men? I think the best bet for the X-Men would be more regular sets like the X-Jet rather than another D2C. Unless the X-Mansion really is a best-seller, enough to justify more D2C sets, otherwise I feel it might be a one and done. It would probably take a successful film series in the MCU to get more X-Men D2C sets, like an X-Mansion based on the movies or any new locations. I think what distinguishes Genosha from those other sets you've mentioned is that Genosha has a way more unsavory history. Genosha was designed as an apartheid state in the comics where mutants are literally dehumanized by being shaved, bonded to skintight slave suits, tattooed, and stripped of their names to function as slaves. It became repopularized once Magneto took over to establish a mutant nation but most media portrays Genosha as getting destroyed by Sentinels. And there's really not any iconic or specific structure. Like if you Google Genosha, there's no specific building that everyone would think of. Something like Asgard still has some identifiable facade because of the movies, but with Genosha, it's really just an island. Even if it's not considered inappropriate for Lego, I just don't see anything concrete enough to make a set out of except maybe one of the Sentinels themselves. I think a better D2C Sentinel set would be the Mastermold and some regular-sized Sentinels to go with it. There are other settings like Madripoor and the Savage Land. Madripoor has appeared in the MCU and will also be a major location in the Insomniac Wolverine video game. But even these places don't lend themselves to D2C sets imo. They'd be good set pieces for Wolverine-themed sets, as well as Japan.
  13. I guess the blame doesn't rely entirely with Disney then. Lego's the same company that made a D2C Hogwarts Express set and excluded major characters like Hermione and Ron in their grown-up versions to instead include completely made-up characters. I have the CMF Faun. When I get the BATB castle set, I'll see how it looks with the Beast's head but it's good to know in advance it makes for an imbalanced combination. I don't really have a problem with him having normal legs though or being a minifigure. I always felt he'd look off if he was anything but a minifigure. I do think they should have done a better job with his legs, giving him side printing, and also colored his tail so that the front and sides aren't brown like they did with Robin Hood. It honestly seems like most of these Disney characters, whether Beast, Lilo, Nani, David, or Geppetto, would be better off in a CMF series where they can get the most accurate printing and full details. And in Lilo and Nani's cases, new hair molds. It makes me worry that when the POTC set comes out, that Lego will similarly scrimp out on potential characters like Barbossa and Elizabeth. But maybe being part of the Icons branding, they'll get better treatment than the usual Disney minifigure.
  14. That's why I don't think they'll be able to do justice to the comic book versions of the characters. Especially based on their previous classic minifigures for Captain America and Thor. The MCU versions are simplified enough. Thanks for confirming about the Origins set. That would count as an Oscorp set. There's always been a lot of overlap between Spider-Man and Daredevil, especially in the Ultimate Universe, so I feel this would be the only way to get characters like Kingpin, Elektra, and Bullseye. Since Lego doesn't seem comfortable including Daredevil, Blade, Punisher, or characters like them unless they're essentially snuck into large sets like the Daily Bugle where they can get lost within the large minifigure roster. I'm assuming this could apply to Deadpool as well now. If he's not coming in any X-Men D2C set, then I think Spider-Man would be his only other option. Do you really think Lego would ever make a set on Genosha? Not only is it rather obscure by pop culture standards, but it's also the setting of a genocide. I don't see Lego wanting to make any set that replicates the Sentinels slaughtering mutants on such a large scale.
  15. Hogwarts skirts aren't as long though. And Rosie's specific skirt flares out a lot which also doesn't look like the Hogwarts uniform skirt. I haven't heard anyone bring up the Quidditch World Cup so that would be a nice set to see in the future. But I don't think they'd make such a big set without including any female characters like Hermione or Ginny. Other potential characters could be Cornelius Fudge, Lucius Malfoy, Draco Malfoy, Barty Crouch Sr, Barty Crouch Jr, and maybe some of the Quidditch players like Viktor Krum, if the emphasis is on the actual Quidditch part with the stands.
  16. I'm also grateful they didn't try to market Lilo & Stitch with the new remake either. Not that they did a good job depicting the animated characters, so it's all the same to me if they did or didn't, but at least they recognize that the market is for the classic versions of these films. I think Disney only made that effort with TLM because they had a specific agenda they were trying to promote with that film, unlike these others. They were desperately trying to market that film, even making it part of the Oscars ceremony that year, which was unprecedented and completely lambasted. I hope Disney has learned its lesson and won't repeat this mistake by forcing these remakes on fans in the future. Sadly, I think WB might fall into this same trap if they start to phase out the Lego HP sets based on the movies for sets featuring this new remake show.
  17. There were also people who posted here about making custom Beast minifigures by putting the minidoll Beast head onto a minifigure torso. Like Dale from Chip 'n' Dale. The eyes are a bit different. But I really dislike the blending of the minidoll style into the minifigure sets. Like Simba I think looks really out of place amongst the other Disney animals because he's clearly a mold from the Friends/Princess minidoll sets.
  18. I feel the comic book versions of the characters have such specific and iconic looks that to remove some of those details and moldings will make them look really cheaply made, even moreso than the MCU versions. Cyclops from both of the recent X-Men sets is a good example. I think he has some of the worst Marvel minifigs with the way they either don't bother to include his leg details or only do so with subpar printing on the front. I'd almost rather not have comic minifigs of Avengers characters than such shoddily made ones. What was the previous Oscorp set? That's a good minifigure lineup. I'd like to see an Agent Venom minifigure to go with Flash and also maybe some of Kingpin's assassins like Elektra and Bullseye, since it's unlikely we'll get any Daredevil characters outside of D2C Spider-Man sets. I'm sure they'd shoehorn in Miles and Spider-Gwen even though neither really belong. I can see Deadpool potentially being included since he was one of the characters Lego wanted to include in the Daily Bugle set but couldn't because of the Fox issue. And they also wanted to include Jessica Drew as Spider-Woman so I'd hope we could finally get a non-comic con exclusive figure for her.
  19. For whichever set features the Ravenclaw Common Room, I hope we get a version of the Grey Lady based on her appearances in the first two movies where she has a much more elaborate dress from the Tudor era.
  20. I'm the opposite. I prefer bigger sets, because even though they're not cheap, I'd rather have a large-scale model that includes everything or almost everything instead of a scaled-down version. I did like the Up house but I also felt it was too small and was missing some rather pivotal things. Like Ellie's chair, the stair lift, and even the handprints on the mailbox. That set was very popular so I can see it getting a larger model in the future. But I also think rather than getting multiple versions of a set, with each one getting bigger and better, it's easier for Lego to just make the perfect version once. I think to include the staircase and garage section would require the set to be bigger because it would need more pieces to implement that stuff to elevate the height. Like you said, the entire shape of the house is more or less altered by removing that bent staircase and it makes the house look almost unrecognizable and plainly generic. Maybe I'll get the set if there's a good MOC on Rebrickable, as @hikouki said, that is more movie-accurate. But that won't fix the minifigures. I don't see why they can't make custom molded hair for Lilo and Nani instead of reusing Pocahontas' hair over and over. They reused her hair for one of the Encanto minidolls but it actually made sense there. It doesn't make sense for either Lilo or Nani. The lack of dual molded arms for Lilo twice now is irritating because there aren't any existing minifigures with that particular skin tone and red sleeves that could function as a replacement. Nani and David look so cheaply made. Like how bad Cyclops in the X-Mansion looks with his hips not being colored yellow but having yellow printed on the front. Stitch and Cobra Bubbles are well done but I already have both previous Stitch minifigs and Cobra Bubbles by himself isn't enough of a draw to get the set. I feel Lego has been skimping out on their Disney minifigures for a while now. In the Target set, Geppetto is perfect from the torso up but then they give him plain black legs. I understand it's unlikely he would get dual molded legs outside of a CMF but they didn't even bother to print his stockings and shoes. And even for the Beast in the upcoming BATB set, they just reused his rather cartoony minidoll head. I think that's the reason. The characters built into the set aren't considered to be "minifigures."
  21. I've seen custom molds for Captain America's cowl with the wings sticking out and it stands out as instantly recognizable, in a way that I don't think would be the case if the wings were just printed on. I also don't trust Lego to put the effort in giving any of these characters dual molded arms or legs if they need them. They pretty much never do that with Cap in the MCU sets. And when it comes to the comic costumes, pretty much all the Avengers would require dual molded legs, whether Captain America, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Quicksilver, Wasp, Carol as Ms. Marvel, Spider-Woman, etc. Vision would probably just get his hips printed yellow on the front like they did with Cyclops in the X-Mansion set. I think Oscorp getting a regular set is a good sign that if it sells well, Lego would make a D2C version. Avengers Tower, the Daily Bugle, and the Sanctum Sanctorum all had multiple playline sets before getting D2C versions. And that's also why I've been saying from day one that we wouldn't get a D2C Baxter Building this year. Lego will want to wait and see if the film is successful and if there's any demand. Not to mention, such a huge tower would basically feature only a handful of minifigs if released today, unlike how many Avengers Tower and the Daily Bugle featured.
  22. It's one of my favorites too and straight from my childhood. As soon as I saw the price tag, I knew the set wouldn't do justice to the house. Especially after that incredible Lego Ideas submission a year or two ago which was rejected by Lego. If it was just the house being small and inaccurate, I could still take it, but it's the way they skimped on the minifigures that really bothers me. And they've messed up Lilo twice now, even though she's different in both sets. I didn't get the Target Disney set idea because wasn't a fan of how they messed up Lilo, Simba, and Geppetto. For that matter, I still haven't bought the X-Mansion set because the lackluster treatment of most of the minifigures doesn't have me in any immediate rush.
  23. Same for me. I didn't like Encanto at all. Raya's not a great movie but I did enjoy it way more than anything Disney has released in the last decade or so. But then again, I haven't liked anything Disney has made since Bob Iger took over. I'm probably going to skip the Lilo & Stitch house myself. I was looking forward to that set but the house is too small and they did an awful job depicting Lilo, Nani, and David. The latter two with those weirdly printed legs and Nani wearing pink instead of orange. If you don't mind her wearing blue boots, then it would probably work better.
  24. We're getting the POTC Icons set featuring the Black Pearl. Besides Prince Phillip, we don't have Prince Eric for Ariel either. And I think Eric is the prince who shows up most prominently in the minidoll sets (either him or Charming) so it's weird why he's been excluded. I guess because of the lack of a set for TLM and after that remake set was a big failure, maybe Disney is reluctant to revisit the property, even if its the animated one. We're also missing John Smith for Pocahontas, although thankfully I have a custom figure for him. So far the princesses who have gotten their own sets outside of the Princess theme are: Snow White with her cottage set Aurora with her microscale castle set Ariel with her microscale palace set and her remake clamshell set Belle with her upcoming castle set Jasmine with her microscale palace set (even if she herself wasn't included) Elsa and Anna with their minidoll ice palace set Cinderella and Rapunzel are the two major princesses without sets at this point. I can see Cinderella getting her coach or Rapunzel getting her tower, especially since there are rumors about a Tangled live-action movie and a Mother Gothel live-action spinoff film. And since we've gotten TLM and then BATB, I think in the future, the next likely choice would be a D2C Aladdin palace set. Maybe Sleeping Beauty with a minifigure dragon set if Lego ever wants to redo that set outside of the princess theme. The Luxo Jr Ideas set was the one a lot of people were speculating could feature an assortment of minifigures so Merida's best chance would be in that outside of another CMF. I agree that Brave isn't popular enough to warrant a new set. I think even in the princess theme, she never got any Lego sets themed exclusively to her outside of the original film's release.
  25. Isn't there a Pixar set coming out later in the year? If there are minifigs, they might include Merida in that. I see Raya mostly being ignored or maybe getting a minifigure in a random CMF series just for representation's sake. I don't see her being phased out as a princess just because Disney would get too much flack for removing their Southeast Asian princess. They were able to remove Esmeralda only because it was the mid-2000s, before the age of social media and much racial awareness, and also because the Romani are still heavily discriminated against with little advocates. That was more a Bob Iger decision, another reason why he's a hack who ruined Disney (and all the IPs Disney purchased).
