Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

That's smart, like how Elastigirl had two minifigures in the Incredibles 2 sets, one with long stretchy arms. It's too bad Stan Lee isn't alive anymore because I would have loved a minifig on his Willie Lumpkin which we saw in the 2005 movie. The Baxter Building won't feel complete without him. I forgot that Norman Osborn hasn't received a minifigure yet since the original Spider-Man movie sets, excluding his Green Goblin persona. Did Agent Venom ever receive an official minifigure? I could see him or Anti-Venom showing up too. I haven't played the new Spider-Man Playstation game but I remember in the first one, there were hints that Harry Osborn was becoming Venom. Yes, to classic versions of all those villains. Really surprising we never got any of them, especially classic Electro. Probably in future MCU movie sets like maybe Secret Wars even if that's a couple years away. -

In your response to your earlier, now deleted, post about potential Deadpool sets and how he'll factor in, it should be noted that Disney+ just added X-Men '97 to their MCU list. Now it's canonically part of the MCU multiverse and this seems to indicate that any X-Men who might appear in the new Deadpool movie will actually be live-action versions of the '97 characters. So even if we aren't getting any specific Deadpool sets, the X-Men minifigs we're getting will seemingly tie into the movie...maybe Deadpool might show up in the X-Mansion set after all for cross-promotion? These Spider-Man comic sets are the only way we're getting comic book characters in Lego form so I don't think anyone minds how tenuous a connection Kingpin and Bullseye have to Oscorp. I think Green Goblin's gang were rivals with Kingpin's mafia at one point so there's some sort of link. -

Harry Potter can thrive on playsets in a way that Star Wars usually can't. Dioramas make sense for Star Wars but not for Harry Potter. What's the point of making a diorama from a scene from Hogwarts when you could just as easily make that into a set that is part of the castle? -

I wonder if that's something they would currently have in development or if now the positive reception to X-Men '97 means they'd consider making that in the future. I don't feel like the X-Men would get two D2C sets back to back especially without any movies on the screen, but I have heard that the X-Men movie is being fast-tracked now so I do think we're very likely to get more sets. Thanks for also confirming. I can see why they've kept it around due to its popularity. I wonder if the Sanctum Sanctorum sold less than the Daily Bugle hence why its retiring first. -

In that case, I don't think that next year's D2C will be Spider-Man themed. Not with the Daily Bugle still around for a while longer. -

I think Oscorp would make the most sense. I don't think The Kingpin's Building is really well known enough to sell (and when I think of the Kingpin's Building, I think of the tower he lived in from the 2003 movie). I would like to see a set with Daredevil peripheral characters like Elektra and Bullseye though, since both are long overdue. With Oscorp, they can add as many Spidey villains as they want plus flesh out his supporting cast. I'd love to see the Jessica Drew Spider-Woman in a non-SDCC exclusive minifig, plus new versions of MJ and Gwen. Maybe MJ in one of her 1960s dresses from the comics and Gwen in her iconic outfit from her death. There's also Harry Osborn, Liz Allen, and Flash Thompson. Maybe we could finally get Iceman now that the X-Men ban has been lifted, especially since he hasn't appeared yet in X-Men '97. Bring back Firestar (with dual molded legs) and include Ms. Lion. -

Isn't the Daily Bugle retiring by the end of this year? They might want a new Spider-Man D2C to replace it then for next year. -
Have you ever watched the actual Superman movies from the 70s and 80s or are you only familiar with the Henry Cavill version since from your prior posts, it seems that you only watched Superman movies featuring Batman, hence Batman vs Superman and Justice League? That might explain your skewed take on Superman and why you don't find him relatable if you've only seen the disastrous Snyder version. I find the Christopher Reeve Superman far more relatable than any of the Batmans.

Everyone seems really confident that we'll get the Baxter Building next year as Marvel's D2C. Tbh I don't see it being a given. If you look at all the past D2C modular buildings we've gotten, they all come from proven properties/franchises/movies. The Avengers has been a blockbuster since 2012 and had its last movie in 2019 but we only just got the Avengers Tower in 2023. The Sanctum Sanctorum was created because the Doctor Strange films have proven to be hits and the setting is important in several other movies like Infinity War. The Daily Bugle is safe because Spider-Man always sells. The X-Mansion is operating more on goodwill towards the X-Men and 90s nostalgia, hence why their comeback has been in a show designed to capitalize on when the X-Men were Marvel's biggest sellers. But the Fantastic Four don't fit any of that criteria. They're not a time-tested property like Spider-Man or The Avengers now. They last time they were Marvel's top franchise was the 1960s. The previous films were either flops or didn't become part of pop culture and they're not really A-List icons anymore so is Lego really comfortable releasing an expensive D2C on a franchise/film that isn't a given success? Maybe a few years ago that would have worked when the MCU was on a high with Endgame and all the movies were automatic hits, but they've had very mixed results since then and audience reception is only dropping with each movie. I don't know if Lego will want to risk making a Baxter Building D2C set so soon for a movie that could very well underperform or flop. I think a Baxter Building is only likely some years from now if the FF movie is a success and able to successfully build into a franchise. -

And even beyond that, the sales for the HE haven't been all that great from what I've seen and heard so I can't imagine Lego would ever justify an expansion or add-on set based on that alone. -

For $300, I'm expecting the mansion to be similar to the Home Alone set. I hope there's enough room to fit everything in though between the front entrance, Xavier's office, the Danger Room with observation deck, Beast's lab, the medical infirmary, the war room with Cerebro, and a holding cell. I presume there's no way to fit in an actual X-Jet hangar. And I'd love to see the actual X-Men's bedrooms and the kitchen/living room area but I can see those falling to the wayside. If the X-Mansion has attic space like the Home Alone house does, hopefully that can at least be converted to Storm's living quarters from the comics where she keeps her plants. I don't remember there every being any classrooms in the show so I'd be fine with that being ignored. Classrooms in the mansion weren't really a thing until the movies. -

Lego is very big on representation and diversity. If they're willing to throw aside Hermione and Ron in the Diagon Alley set to instead give us generic diverse students nobody wanted, then I don't see them throwing away Jubilee since she provides Asian representation. That could be in favor of Bishop and Sunspot as well. Similarly, Mystique could be considered LGBTQ representation. Although she hasn't appeared in the show yet, comic fans may have an inkling that we've seen her several times already, just not in her true form. I don't think she'll be in the set but based on the suspicion that she's playing a major part in the show, I don't think it's entirely impossible for her to be included either even if this particular report has no merit. I don't see us getting that look in the Mansion anyway. Maybe in potential S2 sets where hopefully a new mold won't be an issue. -

I wouldn't mind generic ghosts based on some of the background characters in later sets but not right now when we still don't have the Fat Friar or Bloody Baron. Or for that matter, the Grey Lady's depiction from the first two movies. -

The Durmstrang Ship and the troll because they're long overdue. But mainly the Great Hall because I think that set more than any other will give us a good indicator on the quality of this new Hogwarts line and if it's really "the most detailed" or just more of the same that we've gotten before. -

That's interesting. Didn't realize leg printing is so expensive which is why it seems to be neglected so often. Not just in the Marvel theme, but even in Harry Potter, it's often pointed out that the characters get generic legs and no printing, even if they're wearing jeans. If Morph and Cyclops make it in the X-Mansion set, at least any printed legs used for one could be reused for the other. I'd be very annoyed if they give Morph plain blue legs like they did with Cyclops in the X-Jet. -

There isn't a Prince Eric minifigure either besides Phillip. And as you mentioned, Belle and the Beast. Donald being reused from the CMF for the castle was a weird choice. Mickey, Minnie, and Daisy all got their park outfits for the castle set, but Donald didn't for some reason. If you look at his parks outfit, it's different from his classic outfit in the CMF. The lining on his sleeves and collar is white instead of yellow, and he's got white buttons on his shirt. I'm hoping we get a new Sorcerer Mickey one day, especially since we have three different versions of Steamboat Willie Mickey. Sorcerer Mickey is another minifig I'm disappointed with. His shoes should be brown instead of yellow and the sparkles were unnecessary. But my main issue with him is his eyes. His pupils are way too big and really look out of place next to Minnie or the other Mickey minifigs. Honestly, if I didn't know better, I would think it's one of those cheap Lego knockoff figures instead of an actual Lego minifig. Florian and the Witch were also recycled in the cottage set. And Tinker Bell was also recycled, alongside Peter Pan, from the train set in the London set. -

It seems to be the trend that the sets based on the parks get minifigs. It feels like a double insult though since not only are we getting a reused minifig (one that I said from day one, I felt was an awful depiction of Aurora. Wrong hair color, wrong hair length, no molded crown, back printing on the torso, white collar, wrong shade of pink, etc.) but instead of giving us a Sleeping Beauty minifigure-scale castle like we wanted, we're only getting a microscale castle. I remember people were upset about Haunted Mansion as well, that there was no minifigure-scale set, just a microscale one. -

I would still like to see minifigs from Fleur and Bill's wedding because we still don't have those looks in minifig form. And there's still quite a few Yule Ball outfits that could be made or updated as well although those would probably appear in a new advent calendar or set. -

Nobody seems to like this costume lol so I can see why nobody would care about getting a more accurate version. I'd like to see Sinister although with only 10 minifigs, I hope there's room for him. I don't follow the Star Wars sets anymore but I do hear complaints from most of the fandom that they're never happy with the new minifigs, especially the clone ones. They don't seem to know how well they have it though since Marvel seems to be allergic to leg printing. I feel like Beast will be likely to reappear because they'll want to include a character in the lab sections of the X-Mansion. If we're lucky we might get a new version wearing a labcoat but that might be wishful thinking. The lack of quality control on the new minifigs is the main reason why I haven't picked up the X-Jet yet. I plan on getting it eventually but I was so annoyed by the minifigs that it hasn't been a priority. Wolverine was the least offensive since at least there's a better version of him available. I saw Rogue got the most flack but I thought Cyclops was worse off. It honestly doesn't even look like Cyclops to me but like someone cosplaying him in pajamas. I can understand the lack of leg printing (although I don't agree with it, especially for the price of the set), but not even including yellow hips really felt like Lego was purposefully trying to upset people. Then the hair is way too dark (in the show, his hair is almost as red as Jean's hair) and doesn't even cover the blue on his forehead. Rogue at least is passable, from the front anyway. From the sides and back she looks like a disaster and I don't get Lego's obsession with this generic hairpiece which most of the Marvel women have gotten. Her 90s hair is so distinctively voluminous that it's just an odd choice. And I'm 99% sure that the Jean minifig will have the same hair but in red (like in the Lego Marvel Super Heroes video game). If Storm hadn't chopped off her hair into a mohawk, I'm sure they would have repeated the same hairpiece but in white, like her previous minifig. I didn't realize how inaccurate Magneto was until the show actually came out. The hair always seemed odd to me because his hair has never been that long and straight. It's like Lego got confused with his clone from the 90s, Joseph. But the show made me realize how dark his costume really is unlike the minifig which borders on pink. Like with Cyclops and even Rogue, the hair wouldn't bother so much if the actual costume was done well. I agree with you completely that it's annoying that they couldn't have just given us the perfect versions of these characters the first time around. -

I feel like if we were going to get one, we would have gotten it by now. Didn't the first two come out in 2018 and 2020 respectively? There's been quite a gap since then.
