  1. Cool that it’s going online for those of us that don’t have a Lego store nearby. There’s a matching (unprinted) skirt piece too.
  2. What a great, info-packed post! This is great fuel for daydreaming about what’s headed our way. I’m expecting something similar to the Ideas submissions you’ve included. Any of which I would be pleased to add to my collection.
  3. While I'm not familiar with the source material, this is very cool.
  4. That’s great news! I had to drive over an hour away to get one of those shields last year.
  5. Not only is it a great build (one of my favorites of that line), but the mini fig selection is about as good as it gets. The gold knight is spectacular and one of the best queens ever too, in my opinion.
  6. Fun video. Maybe a little hard on the Kingdom’s castle on historical accuracy, lol, but that’s ok. One note: you’re adding an extra syllable to the word “portcullis”. :)
  7. I'll go one better and point to 7079-1 Fantasy Era Castle Drawbridge Defense. It's perfect in every way, including its use of BURPs.
  8. Oh I’m sure you’re right, but it’s a fun idea.
  9. Considering that two of the best old castles (King's Mountain Fortress & Black Knight's Castle) use a raised baseplate, I totally agree. That said, I think it would be tough to fit $350 worth of bricks on a raised baseplate, lol. At least, not on that cool ramp one that those others are built on.
  10. It’s all about how they’re used. See the early 90’s for many half-hearted examples of BURPs and LURPs used poorly. That’s is how they got their names, after all. Properly camouflaged, they’re fine.
  11. That’s a great point. If you’re going to go far out, you should go all the way. Not to be masagonistic or anything, but a female army is less than ideal. It forces some sort of Amazonian thing, which admittedly is a good fit on the night elves idea, which is also cool. Disclaimer: I love female minifigs, and the female warrior archetype is just fine with me, but if there are no dudes in an army, it’s kinda weird.
  12. While I agree there’s plenty of room for that kind of modularity, that’s a far cry from a 3-in-1. I’m sure I don’t need to define for you the nature of the 3-in-1 builds, but suffice it to say, some modularity and/or display options is not that.
  13. Yup. Every opinion that I trust is suggesting it'll be July before we get pics. A leak before that is certainly a possibility, but there's really no telling with leaks. The only reason I have Instagram is to cruise the legoleaks hashtag, lol.
  14. I don't view that as reliable either. Assuming this set does fall under the Creator banner, none of the larger sets (2000pc+) are 3-in-1. I myself am not an expert on these as a theme, but a quick look through Bricklink showed none.
  15. Traditional castle panels wouldn’t hurt my feelings, but I’m not expecting much if any in this set. I keep thinking back to the Kingdoms Joust. Any time TLG goes for the gold on a large, impressive set, big panel pieces are the first thing to go. I’m ok with it. It does allow for more detail.
  16. I don’t mean to yuck anyone’s yum, but I can’t find much room for this particular CMF. I got one for my historical/mythology/fantasy CMF collection, but she’s just a little too far out there to fit in with anything else I have going on. I must say, it is fun to see what y’all are doing with it though as far as mixing parts and expanding on the concept.
  17. Nice. I dig the spire details and the use of white for the architecture around the garden and the statue.
  18. I just hope there's one or more figs that are a great fit for the 90th Anniversary Lion King's Castle set. The CMF line has done a pretty good job of keeping historical/fantasy/castle figs in the lineup, but something that fits like a glove would be fun. Like maybe a new herald with matching lion imagery/colors.
  19. That's an interesting idea. I personally have a lineup of a single knight and squire for each faction, even those that don't necessarily warrant such a thing, like Wolf Pack and Forestmen. Basically, if there's a shield for it, I've made a knight to bear it.
  20. Just quoting this because this forum doesn't have a "like" button. There's your "like", Aanchir. :)
  21. Let us also consider that Dungeons & Dragons has never been more popular than it is today. I sure remember when I was 12 or so, being heavily into both D&D and Lego Castles at the same time, and that was in the 80's when D&D was much less popular, and more mired in the "satanic panic" of the time. Thankfully my parents weren't spooked by that notion. That may not be in the 8-10 sweet spot that TLG is hoping for, but it ain't nothin' either.
  22. According to whom? I know for a fact that there are current TLG designers that consider Castle their favorite theme to MOC on their own time, such as Nuju Metru, who is a member here. Anything that keeps a Castle theme off of shelves is going to be business driven based on their market research, which isn't something they share a lot of information on. Though I don't have any more insight into that research than anyone else outside of TLG, I personally don't agree with their findings, based on the years-long draught we've had (the last year notwithstanding). Either way, we're getting castles now, so it doesn't seem right to complain.
  23. Agreed. There's a rich history in just the first 10-15 years of castle. No need to cram it full of everything. Going the other way though, I could totally dig a modern take on the old classic look like this:
  24. Yeah, but I think TLG has shown that they don't mind paying homage to a classic faction without sticking to all of the details. The CMF Rogue with the Wolf Pack emblem is a good example of this. From a "best stand alone product" standpoint, it probably makes the most sense to to include a couple of figs from a rival faction (Falcons makes the most sense there). From an AFOL castle collector standpoint, I would prefer as many unique figs as possible, as Bricks and Pieces has gone a long way to help supplement my armies.
