  1. I have considered making instructions, however I don´t know how to do it...
  2. Thanks! I like the idea of an Emerald Night successor. I might just roll with that. The spacing between the flanged wheels is tested on standard Lego curves and works well. The front boogie is connected with a two-point connection so it have quite a lot of articulation.
  3. Currently working on this German Class 01 Steam Locomotive. I’m going for an all-Lego approach so I’m limited to Legos large Train wheels, which definitely are to small to be completely accurate. However I believe it scales well enough. It has a powered up! L motor built in to the boiler and the batterybox will be situated in the tender. Criticism and thoughts are welcome!
  4. Thanks! Definitely one of my favorite things with moving to 8-wide is the amount of interior space there is! Thanks! Thank you.
  5. Great suggestion, something I missed completely. Will definitely fix that when I get around to built it in real bricks!
  6. Thank you!. Plan is to add lights to the coach so it will be visible as well. Luckily the Emerald Night passenger car comes with 10. Since I have more than what I need I thankfully don't have to think about the price of them. Although it would be interesting to know where those knock-offs could be bought?
  7. Hello. Im not to fond of the tender or the coach that came with the Emerald Night. This can be seen as blasphemy but I wholeheartedly believe the Engine deserved better. So thats what I intended to "fix". So far its built in Studio but it will be built in bricks as soon as Im happy with the end result. The design and color scheme stays true to the original passenger car design but it have been widened and made longer. Working on a 8-stud wide basis meant that the tender had to be made wider as well to make the transition between the tender and the coach seem more fluid. Tweaks are still being made so criticism and tips are welcome. Thanks for looking!
  8. This is most definitely quite something! Great techniques used all around and the colors are perfect!
  9. Thank you very much for the kind words! Its not motorized as it stands. Fitting a motor in the locomotive would be tricky but most definitely doable. The problem is the batterybox. The tender is filled up with brackets and modified bricks to get the correct half-a-plate height required for the snot-built sides on the tender, so there is no space in there. So my plan would be to make 2 passenger cars and motorizing one of them. Its not to bad, but probably the most Ive spent on a single smaller sized model. The only bricks I used from my existing collection was the various wheels, that did save a pretty decent amount of money at least.
  10. Haha thanks, Im going to build a display-stand for it as well so in the end it will have sort of the same "set-up" as the official set. Thank you! It was an absolute joy to put together! Although quite expensive given the dark red and pearl gold, the tally came up to about $155 for 1150 parts.
  11. The bricklink orders have been coming in and the train is close to complete! A few pieces to still be added but 97% complete! Very happy with how it turned out and love the proportions 8-wide gives!
  12. It looks absolutely lovely!
  13. I was considering using the technique using cheese-slopes (as I've used in the first part of the boiler) but decided against it as this design allowed for the 4x4 round plate in pearl gold to add the striping that are quite prominent in the Olton Hall Locomotive. ...and thank you! Thank you!
  14. Thanks! That was also a concern of mine, my hope is that the flex-tube that is supposed to run alongside the boiler adds a bit of "visual"-width.
  15. Truly a remarkable build! The colors are spot on! It also brings my mind to the classic adventures-set 5986.
  16. Thanks a lot! The tender was quite tricky as I wanted the gold-stripe to be brick built, and the height gives a offset that can only be “filled” by using brackets. I will have at least one carriage (the one seen in the last picture). More than that will probably be tough to display.
  17. Pictures of the complete trainset in the comments! Here is my overhauled Hogwarts Express plus passenger car finished in Dark red and Pearl Gold! I’m very happy with how the model turned out, first time building a train MOC (or a train at all) in 10 years so it was a bit tricky at times but it ended up just as I wanted it. This is my first attempt at a 8-wide train and I must say it is a scale I much prefer. It makes the model look much better scaled to both minifigures and track. This scale also gives a lot more room for an interior on the passenger car, in this instance the car is fitted with compartments which I will show once the model is built in real bricks. I also want to point out it uses 100% and no stickers just available printed parts. Now to the fun part, ordering roughly $400 worth of parts.
  18. Wonderful build! Rock Raiders remains my favorite theme. After I've finished a few other projects I will most certainly get back to this!
  19. Looks very good! The colors are very nice, really like the interior as well.
  20. Thank you! All this positive feedback help making sure that it stays compete.
  21. Only this quite old picture of the captains cabin. Thank you very much, 15 year old me would be very happy with such praise!
  22. @Brickander Brickumnus New pictures added!
  23. Thank you very much! Coming right up! I shall keep quite on such things in the future. Thank you for the kind words. Its all built in bricks right away so I don't really know, however it isn't a super high piece count as there is no interior for the lower deck other than the middle section, so quite parts efficient in that sence.
