Heroica RPG - Quest#15: Hoisting Down the Jolly Roger
Khorne replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Eric grinned as blood of his foes was splattered all over his face. The party was weakened and had been on the receiving end of many blows. Eric looked to his right and saw Maurice passed out on the floor, bleeding. "One more push", he thought, "and this fight'll be over". Eric blood was still boiling, but he didn't know if he could hold onto his rage much longer. The voice in his head became stronger, as if it were a person nearer to him talking. He glanced at his sword, but then shook his head. Eric will attack Pirate Ruffian (Green Bandana) from the first row. Battle Order: Eric Ad-Hoh Christopher Erdathcath Hybros (potion?) -
Nice blacksmith. Not too small, not too big; just like a shop a medieval artisan would own. You got some nice shapes and builds going on in your MOC. I really like the brown woodwork around the attic window. Nice job!

Okay, thanks for filling me in . I knew the Orcs had taken the job to help some Orc friends out, but I didn't know their friends were in trouble because of Ennoc worshippers. Must've missed that part somewhere .
-
*raises hand* My group is composed of fully sane, non-messed up people .How did Ennoc get involved in Quest #12, though? I thought Quest #12 was about saving gnome kids from an Orcish group of mercenaries? Or did I miss something there?

Heroica RPG - Quest#15: Hoisting Down the Jolly Roger

"Two of us should hand out Rum, preferably to the Seamage and the Wench. That'll leave us with three fighters left. If we are like we will manage to take out the Ruffian with the green bandana and the chimp. The Ruffian will give us back one bottle of rum when dead and the chimp will hopefully hand over his banana, which Maurica can then use. I say Erdathcath and Ad-Hoh give one of their rums. I will try to kill the ruffian, while Christopher should finish the chimp. Hybros can attack the remaining pirate. Alright?" Eric felt confident that the battle would end up right. Godricsleif had caught the taste of the ruffian's blood and was thirsty for more. Icy mists hung around the blade and the runic inscription glowed eerie red. Eric heard a voice in his head. It sounded far away, yet familiar. He paid no heed to it, though and kept focused on the task ahead. "Hang on, Cleric! Sol will watch over you!" "Here's hoping for some bloodrage" Eric muttered to himself. Eric will attack Pirate Ruffian (Green Bandana) from the front row. Battle Order Ad-Hoh (give rum to Sea Mage) Erdathcath (give rum to Wench) Christopher (kill chimp) Eric (kill ruffian) Hybros (attack and if lucky kill remaining pirate) Ooc: *green = proposed plan of action -
Holy ! Talk about having bad luck! Not only did almost none of our attacks hit, we got hit with almost every Special Attack the pirates have got .

Eric roared as the pirate hits him. Blood runs from the wound, but Eric does not relent. He glances at the Pirate Chef's head dangling at his side. "Wartan give me strength and more heads will be offered in your name." Godricsleif grew restless as its master has missed yet another chance to draw blood. A mysterious force pulled Eric back into the fray, ordering him to carry on the battle. "I either win or perish on this battlefield. No matter, Helvetia will set me free!" the Nord shouted and ran towards his asaillant again. Blood would be spileld, be it his or his enemies. The rage aspect of Wartan the Allfather cared little whose blood flowed into his realm. Eric will attack Pirate Ruffian (Green Bandana) again, from the first row. Battle order: Christopher Eric Ad-Hoh Erdathcath Hybros Maurice "If any of you still want to give Rum, do your thing. I will stay and fight these mongrels!" -

"Al right, Maurice, it's your rum. Go ahead." Eric stepped in closer and gripped his sword more tightly, readying himself to inflict damage. Eric will attack Pirate Ruffian (Green Bandana) from the front row. Battle Order: Maurice Eric Hybros Christopher Erdathcath Ad-Hoh -
I agree. I understand it's fun to build your character, but as Zepher pointed it, when doing it too fast, it will leave you with nothing for the future. Plus, extending it over a long period of time makes it more exciting and thrilling (and plausible, nobody would all of their secrets to people they've never seen before). I love reading De'kra's story, because it's being built up so slowly, yet at an enjoyable pace. I am on my third Quest now and I practically haven't given anything away about Eric. All I've said is that's he's been banished from his realm and that he's got a wacky sword. Heck, I never even mentioned he was a prince until this Quest. And even then, he only thought that to himself, the others don't know it . I've only dropped hints about his past and action here and there, but no big chunks yet. I kinda like the mystery that shrouds him. It suits him, too. It's in his nature not go telling stuff around to everybody and sharing his issues and problems.Sounds like a long rant now . I just wanted to let you know I agree with Zepher. However, the choice lays with the player of course and how they want to develop their character.

Not necesarily, he could've joined the pirates . Heck, maybe he's even Jolly Roger himself .

"Fight or flight, people? Will we hand them rum or give them hell?" Eric said as he slowly unsheathed Godricsleif, preparing for battle. "I don't care if we have to fight them, but if any of you have objections, say so now!" OoC: Or is it too late already to hand them Rum? -
NPC Ezekiel "Zeke" Drake, professor extraordinaire, archeologist, treasure hunter and general nuisance entered the library. The silence and peace was once more shattered under the hob-nailed boots of the sorry-looking adventurer. You'd think a professor teaching at the Heroica University would earn more money and at least buy some decent, clean clothing. You'd be wrong. Archeology was a little taken class and more often than not, Zeke wasn't even available to teach it. He spends more of his time globetrotting and getting in all sorts of nastiness than actually teaching. Anyway, here he was again. As Byblos nostrils picked up the scent of his old acquintace, his eyes widened and a sudden flash of panic crossed his expression. His countless hairs rose. Slowly he turned his head and saw the sorry excuse of a professor. "In Melodion's name, what are you doing here? Again. I thought, and hoped, I wouldn't see you anytime soon again." "Byblos, you remember me!" Drake merely replied. He slapped his arm around the poor Metasimian and pressed some pages into his hands. "You remember the book I gave you some time ago?" "Book is a big word for the notes you gave me, Drake" Byblos said as he rolled his eyes. He removed Zeke's arm and glanced at the papers he had been given this time. They were in better shape than the first batch he had received. "I was finally able to finish another part of my masterpiece on the North. In this chapter I described the lay of the land. Read it when you got the time. Remember, you can keep. For old times sake." Drake blinked and raised his thumb at Byblos. "Yes, I'll read it. Later. Much later, when the time is right." Byblos mumbled as he put the papers on his desk. Ezekiel turned around and wanted to depart. As he head towards the exit, he was halted by two men. They looked foreign and were dressed in warm, furry clothing. They were armed with long blades and each of them carried a knife. "Är du Ezekiel Drake?" one of them asked. Zeke, well versed in foreign languages replied: "<Yes, that's me. Is there a problem?>" "Ja, det finns ett problem. Var är drottning Astrids medalj? Den du forskat?" A pearl of sweat formed on Drake's forehead. He turned to Byblos and shouted "Gotta run! Nice seeing you again, buddy!". He pushed aside the Northerners and started running. The Northmen quickly got up and started chasing the professor. Byblos shook his head. "Tsk, idiot." The librarian as happy peace had returned to his abode. Taking a banana from his desk, he glanced at the new information Drake gave him. It contained a map of the North. Under it was written:

"I'm not afraid to spill some more blood. We'll see how big the pirate group is, if they are too numerous we can always hand over the rum. I would love to kill every one of these 'pirates', but I'm afraid we don't have the time for that." Eric said. He wanted to show these pirates what a true Norse viking was capable of, but the Quest couldn't fail because of his personal desires. The bloodlust would have to be kept at bay and the killing at a minimum. "Are we going to take the stairs or continue on this floor? Jolly Roger will most likely be upstairs in some office, but I think our best chances on finding Reno are staying on this floor and search for any sort of prison or the like. That is, if Reno is really caught of course, and not part of the pirates." -
Arthur's face is unique? I thought you had used one of those Power Miner faces .
-
The link is broken? D'oh . Should've checked it first. I fixed it now, here it is. It's the Collectible Minifig Series 1 Cowboy's face. Personally, I don't think Arthur's face looks that much more friendly. I think the faces are on the same level of friendliness. I do prefer the face I picked now, it has more sneakiness/charming Rogue-ish qualitis to it than Arthur's face.

Atramor might've had some faint influence on Ezekiel appearance and character. Only slightly, though. I actually wanted to make a fantasy/medieval version of Indiana Jones . A fedora would fit his style, so I went with the most awesome and over-the-top hat LEGO offered, which is the wide brimmed hat. It just looks so good . I meant for Ezekiel to have a bit of a scruffy appearance to reflect his wandering lifestyle, travelling all over the world to learn about other cultures (and procure so valuable loot in the process ). A further link to Indiana Jones could be seen, as Ezekiel is also a teacher (at the Heroica University). But yes, you are right, a meeting of the two would be a dark day indeed. Chaos would ensue for sure .
-
I concur. Atramor is a great character. The definite Rogue. He's part of the reason I chose to be a Barbarian instead of a Rogue. At first I was going to reuse my old RPG character Bran O'Brien again. But there was no way I would be able to top Atramor (and his chicken ), though. Plus, the two characters would end up being too similar to each other . Still, I like the De'kre and Hybros type of Rogues too. The not so drinky, darker and more mysterious types.

What a great use of those microfigures! I would've never have thought of using them like that. Now that you pointed it out, though, it seems almost obvious to use to 'figs like that. It really makes that building stand out and look more medieval, even though I don't really like the blue you used on that house. Nice job . The building I love the most though, is the dark red one. The mixture of red, dark red, orange and (reddish) brown plates works wonders. Making a red brick building is difficult, because often it just ends up looking like some weird red building. Mixing different colors makes it look more real, though and gives a great effect. I'm looking forward to the next installment .

Maybe you are thinking of the Borgund stave church? I do agree with you that the entire structure is fantastic. Great details and fitting figures. The guards' torsos comes from the Prince of Persia line. It's Gool's torso to be exact .

Yes, apparently it can only be a three person battle in your case. I don't really see why you'd need more than 3 people for a battle, though, as most of the battles would just be one player versus another, no? So in that case, you'd only need two people in the conversation. However, if you would want more people participating in one fight, you could always ask someone with a higher ranking (post count) to start a PM conversation and then add the other players (those who want to battle, of course) to that conversation.
-
I'm not that familiar with the PM'ing system, but there are several ways to have a PM conversation between several members. First, you can do this when you start an entirely new conversation. You can send your PM to several people, who will then be part of the group that can participate in the conversation. Second, you can add people to an existing conversation by sending them an invitation. You can do this by going to the existing message and clicking on the 'add' button in the left hand box. I do believe that the number of people you can send a PM to, or the number of people you can add to a conversation, is connected to post count. However, I'm not entirely sure on this.

I love the LEGO Heroica RPG board you made for our Quest, Sandy. It's nice to see the actual game tied in with the online RPG. The black 'fog of war' reminds me of games like Age of Empires/Mythology . Great Quest so far .

Heroica RPG - Quest#15: Hoisting Down the Jolly Roger
Khorne replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Eric grumbled as he had failed again to take down his opponent this round of battle. He swung his sword around angrily. He glanced at Maurice, whose club was heavily bloodied with the blood of those whose lives he had taken. The Cleric was clearly blessed by this Ennoc. How could Sol stand so strong here, while the diety had practically abandonned the North? Had Wartan finally abandonned the fierce Norse Barbarian prince? He couldn't have. Calming down, Eric put Godricsleif in its sheath that hung on his back. He took out a large, machette-like knife and kneeled down next to the Chef's corpse. Much to the disgust of his companions, the Nord severed the Chef's head from its body and tied it to his belt. As he noticed the strange, perplexed stares of his companions, Eric simply stated: "Heads for the War God. Wartan must be pleased. I will offer the head to the God of War later." Eric brushed off his bloodied hands at the Pirate's clothes. The Knight Christopher gagged at the sight of this grizzly scene, but quickly regained control of himself. The Nord's mind returned to the mission at hand. He looked at the sausage he held in his hand. It sure looked delicious and Eric was hungry. He decided to hand the sausage to Erdathcath, however, as a reward for her many kills in battle. "Great fight. All of you" the Nord quickly said. Compliments weren't his forte. He figured that it was only normal that each of the party members gave their best, so why would they need more compliments? Still, it was the polite thing to do. "I suggest we go through the brown door, probably leading to the dining hall. It doesn't look like we have a lot of options here." -
Nice MOC. The landscaping and general 'action' is well done. The smoker is what caught my eye though. How is the roof attached? DOes it just sit on there or is it attached to the structure somehow?

The shape, interior and surroundings of this mill are perfect! This is a very good MOC . The fact that you actually added the sawing mechanisms makes this mill stand out for me. Avalonia sure got some good builders.
