  1. So, how did you do the roof actually? I've looked at the pictures several times, but I can't really figure it out. I'm guessing you're using hinges, but I'm not sure .
  2. Wow, it looks great ! Finally, a half-decent pictures of the Rohirrim. I like them from what I can make out. Those helmets look amazing. So, do all of the figs really. Can't wait for these to be released .
  3. I got into Heroica, because I like playing RPGs on the computer. I've always loved the Elder Scrolls and stuff like that. When I first joined a Lego fan site/forum, it was classic-castle. The time I was there, they had an RPG going on. I joined it, but after a while the thing kind of died out. So, in 2008, after being an EB member for 3 years already, I decided to start my own RPG, based on the classic-castle one. Eurobricks Roleplaying Game was very different to the one now. Looking back at it now, I'm glad Sandy started Heroica, 'cuz it's some much better and more streamlined than what I had come up with . I also followed the Test Quest and I looked like great fun, so I immediatly made a character and joined ASAP .
  4. I second this. Your MOCs are splendid, but a look behind the scenes would be nice. I for one, really wish to see how you put that roof together. How does it stay on? Is it connected or is it just "sitting" there?
  5. Nice work on the Heroica index, Sandy . Very handy.
  6. Great building! As has been pointed out, the "Warhammer-feel" is certainly there. It's great to see another MOC from you, top notch just like your others .
  7. The party had wandered through the fortress long enough. Soon, the Bonaparte attack would be over and the targets aren't still anywhere near in sight. Eric looked at the weary party, they were all tired. The long Automaton battle and certainly hit one of Eric's nerves. He was frustrated. This needed to end. "I need a drink" the Nord said. He grabbed on of the rum bottles they had taken from the pirates and took a hefty sip, halfing the bottles contents. As he was chugging, an interesting idea hit the scene. From the normally ever so-gently Clerice, Maurice. Eric put down the bottle and wiped his mouth with the back of his hands. He smirked and glanced at the professor. "I like your thinking, monk." The Nord jolted forward, faster than anyone would imagine, given his imposing stature. He grabbed hold of the professor and before she could utter a word, he had laid his hand over her mouth. "So guys, let's get our objectives straight. First, we need to find Jolly Roger. To do that we need the password to his room, a password which Legonardo has. Second, we should look out for Reno, the admiral's brother. We have no idea where he is at." Eric unsheathed Godricsleif and put the blade to the scientists neck. "Answer the questions, or I'll kill you. Yell and I'll kill you. You know what, don't try anything stupid or do anything I don't like, or I'll kill you. And believe me, miss, I will do it. You're a sad, pathetic human. Relying on magic and animated piles of metal to do your work. You have no honour, no self-respect. I loathe your kind." the Barbarian spat. "Where do they keep the prisoners here? Do you know of any special prisoners? Where is Legonardo, what route does he take to head to Jolly Roger?" he barked at the woman. He turned to the party "any other questions you'd like to ask?"
  8. "Sure, go ahead. Wreck it to pieces" Eric spat as kicked a broken Automaton in frustration. He took out the machines' cores and examined them. "Tsk, wizardry. I have no need for these." He glanced to Maurice and Ad-Hoh, the only Ether-users in the party. "You can both have two," he then turned to the others of the party "if any of you would want such a core for future use, just ask Maurice or Ad-Hoh if they're willing to spare one." Eric paused and looked around. "Any idea where we should head next?"
  9. YES! I finally had an Extra Critical Hit again. Too bad though that the fight was already over . I never want to have that much bad luck again . The fight could've been over a million times if we didn't miss or got hit all the time.
  10. PM sent . The idea of Skrall lugging around a huge shield is nice, it reminds me of those Maulers in GoW3.
  11. Well, apparently we're not that tough, since both Hybros and Eric got KO'd in our latest battle .
  12. Wow . Thanks for giving an in-depth analysis of all those classes. You raise points I would've never thought of . All the bad luck I'm having in the battles right now is definitely going to influence the choice I'll be making. Before I started the current Quest I'm in, I already knew what class I would pick. But then I started suffering from these extremely terrible dicerolls in the current Quest, so I figured the bad luck was bound to have an impact on Eric as a person/character and my choice of Advanced Class. I'll still be going for the original Advanced Class I had in mind, but with a small detour . Your theory on how Eric would deal with his problems is nice, but it's not what I have thought out. Eric's connection with the gods is already very strong (though it has lessened in the current Quest) and has reached it summit several years back in his storyline, but that you couldn't know, of course since I have yet to reveal more of his past. He believes in the gods, but not in such a way that he would become a "priest" of some sort. So, I'll have him take another way to cope with the bad luck .
  13. "No, Cleric! You've done enough for me already. Plus, right now, you can do more damage than I can. Attack one of the Automatons, I'll take care of myself" Eric shouted. He let his hand slip into his breadsack and took out his last potion. The lid popped off and Eric put the vial to his lips and drank it in one chug. Feeling better, he threw away the vial, which broke as it hit the ground. Eric drinks his potion. Battle order: Ad-Hoh Erdathcath Hybros Christopher Maurice Eric
  14. Wow, just wow . There's so much to take in, so many details to look at. This is a great MOC! It really gives that big, busy city in some hot country vibe. It's superb! My favorite detail has got to be the microfig sitting between the windows of the embassy, nice .
  15. Very interesting to read these latest discussions concerning the characters, in-depth reviews of the Advanced Classes and the reasons/explanations why to pick a certain class. I already got my mind kind of set on which class(es) I'm going to pick for Eric, but if you don't mind, Flipz, could you give your spectacular insights into the matter (or someone else). I'll just wait in line, after all the others . I do feel kind of "sad" that I won't be able to become a Black Knights. That class is just so fantastic! Game-wise and background-wise.
  16. "Eric... Eric..." a distant voiced rang, softly. A female hand reached out. Eric was unconscious, oblivious of the world around him. As he tried to grab hold of the hand, he was catapulted to another realm deep inside his mind. He stood there, standing alone on an endless white plain. "Eric" the same voice called his name again. This time however the voice seemed so much closer. As if it came directly from behind him. Confused, Eric slowly turned around. His icy eyes widened and surprise took over his usual self-assured gaze and posture. Behind him was a woman. Her pale skin contrasted heavily with her fiery reddish auburn hair. Two blue eyes stared at Eric, almost piercing him. She reached out her hand once more, a soft smile forming on her face. She let out a childish giggle. As Eric tried to grab her hand once more, the distance between both suddenly started to increase at an explosive rate. Almost had he been able to grab her hand, to feel her soft skin once more. Eric was shocked, shaken and heavily surprised by yet another curious turn of events. "Almost, my warrior, almost. Your time will come...but not now" the female said. Her voice echoed through Eric's mind as she slowly disappeared again. Eric jolted back up, reaching out in front of him. "Astrid?" he said in a surprised and confused way. His vision was still blurred. As things seemed to become clearer, Eric could make out Maurice, the ever-helpful cleric, standing in front of him, holding an empty vial of Phoenix Essence. Quickly shaking off any semblance of emotions, surprise or forms of attachment, Eric picked up Godricsleif once more and leapt at Automaton Gamma. Eric will attack automaton Gamma from the front row, using Godricsleif. Battle order: Ad-Hoh Hybros Maurice Eric Christopher Erdathcath
  17. Great MOC all around. Several things are worth of note here. First, I love the position of all the minifigs. The minotaur's pose is just perfect, as is Theseus' posture. Second, I really like how you recreated typical facets of Greek architecture. The use of those 1x2 briks with the slit at front is perfect for making the metopes and triglyphs most Greek (Dorian) temples had. The decoration on the wall and the construction of the pilars is well thought-out. Nice SNOT-working there .
  18. Very nice boat! I really love Norse/Viking history and culture, so I liked the extra information you put into the presentation of your MOC. Your solution for raising the standard hull pieces is elegant. It doesn't look too bulky and does the job neatly. 'Neat' is the word that can be used to describe the entire MOC. Just like all the others boats you've build so far, this is another GREAT model . Looks just like the real thing . The Vikings didn't need any extra boxes or chests, they had everything (or most of what) they needed in the small chests they used as seats. Plus, Vikings were, unlike popular misconceptions, known for their cleanliness and tidyness. No self-respecting Viking would man a messy boat !
  19. OoC: Will I be able to attack this coming round or not? I am still responsible for giving out the battle orders, since, you know, I've actually fainted? The Barbarian tried to take out the automaton, but the collection of cogs, bolts and metal plates seemed faster than its appearance belied. Surprisingly (but not really), Eric was hit first. As the iron fists of the android punched Eric, all went black. Godricsleif slipped out of his hands and the tall Nord dropped to his knees and then collapsed onto the ground. His gaze was blank, staring into the nothingness. A soft voice called out his name. A warm, radiant feeling engulfed the Nord. The dark clouds obscuring his gaze cleared slowly, revealing a pair of intrigueing, almond-shaped bright blue eyes. Unconsciously, a smile formed around Eric's mouth.
  20. Lego's doing a stellar job on all of these new minifigs. When I first saw the preliminary pics of this line, I was kind of disappointed. It seemed to be nothing but a rehash of the old Time Cruisers and Studios themes. But now, seeing more pictures of the actual sets and figures, I must say I'm impressed. I really love Dracula's bride and the female Monster Hunter. All of these figures give a great Van Helsing/League of Extraordinary Gentlemen/Victorian era vibe .
  21. I just wanted to say that Hastings had nothing to do with Christianity. The battle of Hastings was purely the consequence of a feudal succesion "crisis". On the subject of religion in Heroica, I wouldn't refer to your character's religion as christianity per se. I'm fine with you using its imagery (such as crosses) and underlying message/doctrine (whatever you call it), but I would really refrain from calling it christianity. Just invent new names for it, if you really want to create a new religion. Alternatively, you could say your monk is part of some splinter cell Ennoc cult/church. Heroica is a fun fantasy setting and real-life religion is a really touchy subject, so let's keep the religions fictional in here. That way, no one will be offended or whatsoever. This is all I wanted to say on the subject, I hope you can understand . EDIT:@palathadric: Please, don't take this personal. Like Etzel, I really like your character. Very original .
  22. Interesting topic. I'm not much of a MOC'er due to my rather small LEGO collection and megalomaniacial building projects/ideas (which are, of course, never executed due to said collection). I do have a decent Castle minifigure collection and the pieces to build small-scale MOCs, which I often do. These small creations are more often than not linked to the official LEGO factions. I rarely invent new names for factions, I simply like to use the names LEGO has given them. I have tried to combine all my LEGO Castle factions into one coherent universe or world ever since I was a kid. I had a very rudimentary basic background story and self-drawn map back then. Over time, I just kept on reinventing and adding to this universe, reshaping it many times. Geographically speaking, my Castle world has reached somewhat of a final form, I like to believe. Background-wise, however, things are very much fluctuating. There are constant pillars of background, but the details keep on changing. My biggest challenge is trying to combine the different official LEGO background stories into one coherent, believable history of my LEGO Castle world. Being a history student, I find myself using loads of historical facts and stories as a basis for my LEGO histories. I just really love reading fantasy stories that, in a certain way, could actually make sense. This is the map situating all post-2000 LEGO Castle factions (pic = link). It is still WIP and will most likely remain so for a very long time. It's something I work on every now and then, when I've got the time or inspiration. The same goes for the background of my Castle world. Right now, I've got tens, maybe hundreds, of pages in Word documents detailing the history of the factions. Some faction have very detailed histories that I've been adding to, and changing since I was perhaps 15 years of age. Others are still really vague and haven't even gotten a page full with info . You can read a really basic general background here. It's kind of based on Norse mythology (amongst others) because I really, really like Norse/Viking culture. You can find more (really rough and sometimes outdated) information on characters and "factions" here. Phew, that's a lot of text . I always get carried away when talking about stuff like this .
  23. Whoops, I missed your post there Etzel . Battle order: Eric Ad-Hoh Maurice Christopher Erdathcath Hybros
  24. Aw, too bad the entry date for the new Quest ends so soon . Oh well, then, I'm sure more opportunities will arise to let Eric go back home once again. I'm really looking forward to reading your Quest, Capt.John Paul. Are you forging the results of the die to make this fight more thrilling/exciting/difficult, Sandy ? We've sure had our run of bad luck during these last few battles.
  25. Ooc: the link to my avatar has changed, that's why it keeps refusing of coming up. Here's the new link: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Khorne/Heroica/Characters/eric_1_small.jpg . Again, Eric was hit by the fiendish automaton. He was certain now, the gods had abandonned him. Even his trusy blade and companion Godricsleif was silent and apparently refused to wound or kill. Maybe it was the fact that they were fighting mechanical enemies that lay at the base of Eric's bad luck. After all, where's the thrill in the kill of something that's not even alive? No blood would be should, no limbs could be brutishly severed. The thrist for blood and gore could not be quenched. Eric felt somewhat sad, is this what the world has come to? Men who are too cowardly to fight so they let magical beings to the work for them. Pirates. These men were no pirates, they were no fighters. They didn't deserve the title. Eric had to keep up, he had to stay conscious, despite the heavy blood loss. He had to teach these frauds what a really pirate or Viking was capable of. Once more, he raised his mighty blade and called upon the gods silently, hoping one of them would hear his plea for help. The mighty Nord was severely weakened by the robot's attack. Therefore, he changed his plan of attack and went for the weakest enemy, leaving the stronger ones at the mercy of those party members who were still at full strength. Eric will attack Automaton Delta from the front row, using Godricsleif. Battle order: Eric Ad-Hoh Christopher Erdathcath Hybros Maurice
