Heroica RPG - Quest#15: Hoisting Down the Jolly Roger
Khorne replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
We tried, the jail is locked. "Maybe we should fight the pirates on the pier to gain the key to the jail? I'm only guessing here, but it's the only thing I can come up with right now. Either that or head upstairs." Eric said. He felt the power of the Mead pulsating through his veins, making him stronger. -

Eric opened up a bottle of mead. "Let's check out the locked door next. The one close to the jail. Maybe Hybros can pick it open". He put the drink to his lips and downed it in one chug. -

Heroica RPG - Quest#15: Hoisting Down the Jolly Roger

Eric sighed as he watched the bleeding corpse of the Satyr. He picked up the Twin Axe and examined it. It was a nice piece of craftmanship, that was for sure. The weapon was so light and well-balanced it could quickly hit two opponents in one graceful attack. "Must be some ancient Elven or Dwarven weapon", he thought. The stout size and general look and build seemed to suggest the latter, though. He let his hand slide along the twin blades of the axehead. Faintly, he felt a very old, worn inscription. Eric dabbed his hand in the Satyr's blood and smeared it all over the axe head, filling the ancient inscription, making it legible. The markings were written in an ancient tongue. The markings looked familiar to the Nord, for they were Dwarven runes, the old writing system upon which Norse was based. Eric squinted his eyes to make out the symbols. It had been years since he had last read any actual Norse writing, let alone ancient Dwarven. He slowly muttered "Dreng...az...ul.i Gr...o...m.az". He only had a rough idea what the actual translation was. Something along the lines of "Slayer's Brave Axe". Just like the Nords did, it was also a custom for Dwarves to give their weapons inspiring names. The axe would make a great weapon, indeed. He hung the Twin Axe on his belt and sheathed Godricsleif. The blade wailed, but the chilling sound was cut off before a sentence was fully uttered. Eric glanced at the spoils of battle and thought carefully about how he'd divide them. Division of the spoils Eric: Twin Axe Ad-Hoh: 10 gold Christopher: 9 gold Erdathcath: 7 gold Hybros: Grand Potion, 7 gold Maurice: Lightning Bomb, 7 gold --- Maurice seemed somewhat absent minded after this last struggle. He was relieved it was over, Ennoc be praised! He didn't mind to heal Hybros and was glad the Holy Light could be of assistance. Maurice heals Hybros. -
I don't think LEGO will do this. They didn't do it with SW, even if they could've made tons of Collectible Minifigure Series with the insane amount of characters Star Wars has. Fact is, LEGO is a kid's toy and kids want to play with the movie characters and invent there own stories concerning the characters. I don't think most kinds are into the whole collect-all-characters thing in the same way adults are. Why would LEGO release a €2 Collectible Witchking Minifig if they could sell the same fig in a "Limited Edition" €80 set? They want to make as much profit as possible, so they'll keep the special figs for the special (expense) sets. So if a kid really, really wants the Witch King so his Frodo fig can fight him, he'll have his parents buy him the expense set. Same goes for the Moria Goblin set you proposed. Where's the fun in that for kids? Some Goblins and a drum? There's no adventure to be had with that. No great story to be told with two evil creatures, some weapons and a drum. Don't take this wrong, your idea sounds nice and as a LotR fan and AFOL I would love do see LEGO to a Collectible LotR figs line, but it's just not that feasible in reality . I still think it's Legolas. It would make more sense to include him, but Haldir would be awesome indeed .

REVIEW: 8827 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6
Khorne replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yes, the figure still looks great overall: the shield, the print, everything is top notch, but the helmet is just aargh ! I hate that they didn't even bother to "cut out" the "ears" of the helmet . Maybe I'll like it more when I get to see the helmet in real life, but right now I think I'll probably replace all those helmets by Brickforge ones and sell off the official ones. -
REVIEW: 8827 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6
Khorne replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great review, WhiteFang! The pictures are very crisp and clear. Series 6 looks like one of the best series so far. All of the minifigure's printing looks very detailed and crisp. I mostly looked forward towards the Roman soldier. I have to admit I'm kind of disappointed . The helmet looks cheap and crappy, I much more prefer the Brickforge helmet. Otherwise the figure looks good, but the helmet is a real downer for me . Personally I think the "misprint" on the legs is on purpose, to continue the wavy effect they got going on on the frontside of the legs. My top wants for this Series are: Roman soldier (despite the helmet), Genie, Minotaur, Mechanic and Outlaw. -

Eric's was surprised as the Satyr dodged his blow. Not relenting he charged again. Eric will attack the Satyr from the front row. Battle order: Eric Ad-Hoh Christopher Erdathcath Hybros Maurice -
Even though I didn't participate in the Quest, I thoroughly enjoyed following the Darkstar quest. Interesting plotline and great roleplaying by the players. The Kill Bill music at the end was just icing on an already great cake .

Eric watched on as the Satyr bled profusely. Little lights burned in the Nord's eyes and a smirk adorned his face. Wartan had bestowed upon him the gift of rage. He raised his sword, ready to deal the final blow and hoped his bloodlust would not wear out. Eric will attack the Pirate Satyr from the front row. Battle order: Eric Ad-Hoh Christopher Erdathcath Hybros Maurice -
Oh okay, sorry . I'm must've missed that post in the plethora of posts here. Thanks for pointing out .

I doubt it. The actions of the White Council are never explicitely described in the book, as far as I recall the siege of Dol Guldur was only mentioned. That taken into account, I don't think the event will play a big role in the movies, so why make sets of an (to a normal audience) unimportant event? Most kids will just watch the movies and then buy/want the Lego sets of stuff that happened in the movie. I don't think they'll really bother reading the actual book to know about other things that happen in the story.

Eric grinned as the Satyr's blood rained on his face. Black gashes reminiscent of frostbite covered the creature's body, inflicted by Godricsleif icy touch. Eric grinned as his confidence grew once more. Godricsleif hummed and spouted mists and again a voice could be heard in the far distance, faintly and ghostly it whailed. This time it was joined by another voice, sounding grated and sharp. It had a more aggressive feel to it. Even though one of the voices sounded distinctly familiar, Eric ignored both of them and lunged himself towards his enemy once more. It was as if his sword itself gave him an ethereal lust for blood and destruction. The Nord looked at his companions and motioned them to press on. Eric wil attack the Pirate Satyr from the first row. Battle Order: Eric Ad-Hoh Christopher Erdathcath Hybros Maurice -
Are we sure it's a new horse mold and not just some CGI to spice up the box art?

I have to admit, the pics surprise me. It's looking better than I expected. Look at all those figs . This'll be an expensive line for sure. Are prices known yet?

Eric got angry at the poor results he was having in battle. He tried to stay calm and not completely lose his mind. "I agree with Maurice, the Satyr is too good to pass up on. I will attack it once more and hopefully I'll do some heavy damage." Eric will attack Pirate Satyr from the back row. Battle order: Battle Order: Eric Ad-Hoh Christopher Erdathcath Hybros Maurice -
This is great news! I love the LotR movies. I do keep my hopes for this theme tempered though. I see lots of people here expect HUGE sets and loads of minifigs. As has been said before, I don't think that'll be the case. I do feel kind of sad that this theme will replace the normal Kingdoms/Castle line. That means castle fans will have to buy the more expensive licensed sets if they want to fullfil their Castle needs. The minifigs will be great, no doubt, but I think the sets themselves will be rather disappointing and will serve only as mere backdrops. And, as has been said before, I also hope not too much flesh will be seen on the minifigs so I can use the parts combined with yellow faces.

Eric charged forwards, intense bloodlust burning in his icy eyes. Godricsleif hummed and cold mists radiated from the blade. It almost seemed as if the sword was happy to cut at its beastly opponent. The Nord grinned, the Satyr was in for a cold surprise. As Godricsleif was imbued with an opal, it would do extra damage to the man-creature. Eric will attack the Pirate Satyr from the first row. Battle Order: Eric (ice vs. beast = extra damage) Ad-Hoh (darkness attack on Cleric? Darkness vs. holy = extra damage) Christopher (attack Satyr?) Erdathcath (lightning bomb on Parrot? Lightning vs. flying = extra damage) Hybros (attack Sniper?) Maurice (attack Raider?) *Green = proposed plan of action, you can still do whatever you want, of course. These are just my ideas . -

Eric groaned at his poor choice, but didn't let his disapointment be seen by his companions. Still, he felt a warm feeling boil up inside at the prospect of a brawl. Even though the party had been dealt a heavy blow in their first battle, most of the members had already recovered using potions or the healing powers of Maurice the Cleric. Eric's Barbarian blood gave the Nord an adrenaline boost to bite through the pain and ignore his wounds. He felt rejuvenated, but his wounds were far from completely healed. His arms wrapped in bloody bandages to cover his wounds and with blood all over him, Eric slowly but surely led the party around the corner. He held Godricsleif at the ready as he arrogantly strode towards the surprised band of pirates, shocked at the sight of the dead pirate chef's head dangling at the side of the huge Nord and the overwhelming numbers of the party. The party will attack the pirates (with the parrot). -

"Apparently we didn't gain much time from using the secret entrance. Since we came through the other entrance trying to be sneaky, I think it would be a waste of the effort if we blew our cover now. I hate to say it, but it's best if we hide first. Remember, we need to find Reno and kill Jolly Roger in a set time, so we can stall fighting every pirate band they throw at us, even though I'd really love to put every miserable one of them down." Eric said, visibly saddened by the lost opportunity at another good brawl. There'd be plenty of more battles ahead, battles that can't be avoided. The party will hide. *EDIT* Oh, we need to specify...umm, the right corridor then (right corridor when the party's backs are facing the brown door)? -

"I second Maurice's course of action. As I've said before, we should search this floor first before heading upstairs. We shall head through the door." -
I wanted to reward everyone for their effort against the pirates, but in hindsight it's seems more fair indeed to return you the money you lost, so I changed the loot division . Other party members, I'll try and make up with you with following loot!

Begrudgingly Eric changed his mind and decided to give Erdathcath all of the 20 gold pieces after all. "As your party leader, I'll try to make up for all of you, I promise. Hopefully the next battle will give us more loot and less muggers." the Nord jokingly said. Erdathcath will receive all 20 gold. -

The battle was over and the Heroes had been dealt some serious damage. Eric bound some of his wounds with cloth he had ripped from the pirates' clothing. As a Barbarian he had been in situations as this before, so his body adapted quickly. He was about to sheath Godricsleif, much to the displeasure of the sword whose surrounding icy mists began to increase in size, violently floating around the blade. With some effort, Eric finally managed to put the sword back. The Nord looked at the loot they had gained. "Ad-Hoh and Erdathcath will each receive one rum. Maurice should have the banana. Erdathcath, I know you lost a lot of gold, but I think everyone should share some of the reward. You will get 8 gold, the others each get 3. If they want, they can give you their cut to even out your losses. But that their personal coice of course." Division of the loot: Ad-Hoh: one rum, 3 gold Erdathcath: one rum, 8 gold Maurice: banana, 3 gold Christopher: 3 gold Eric: 3 gold "Maybe you shouldn't use your Phoenix essence just yet, Erdathcath. Can't Maurice eat his banana now? Or should we try and feed it to him?"
