Heroica RPG - Quest#111: No Fear of the Setting Sun
Khorne replied to Khorne's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Well, it's not really a child, per se. He's actually an adult. I was using the phrase "Child of Ennoc" in a figurative way, like "lost sheep" aren't always actual sheep." "Anyway, there's not really a whole lot I can tell you about it. No doubt the man you're looking for --this Orel-- will be able to tell you more. After all, I just take care of this Temple and see to the everyday religious needs of the Eubric citizenry. Missionaries --those who worship Ennoc and wish to spread his Warmth, Light and faith to other regions through travel and conversion-- report to the convents of Ennoc. There's one outside Eubric, but it's a bit of travel. Plus, if memory serves me right, that's a convent for females, Sisters of the Light if you will, only. The missionary you're looking for most likely came from someplace else." The priestess bowed slightly and laughed softly. "Pleased to meet you, Lynne. No, you don't have to bow to me. I'm just another Human being. Nothing more, nothing less." Alisameth was somewhat taken aback by young Polly's statement. Her eyes widened with amazement and for a second she did not really know how to react. "Uhm, they sure grow 'em young these days at Heroica. Safe travels young one. May Ennoc protect you. May he protect you all on your quest." "That is correct. We should always watch eachothers' backs." "Is there anything else you'd like to ask before you leave? Would you care to join me in prayer, so the Eagle God of Justice and Light may bestow his blessing and protection upon you for this mission ahead of you? Or are none of you the religious type? It's your choice, of course. I can't force anyone to worship Ennoc, now can I? I'll be sure to keep all of you in my prayers." -

The priestess' eyes widened when she saw Polly making her way through the other heroes. Her smile turned wider. She bent her knee a little, so she was on eye level with the latest hero to arrive. "Hello, child. That's quite a nice bear you have there. Are you lost? Can I help you with something," Alisameth politely asked, completely oblivious of the fact that Polly was one of the heroes. She let out another chuckle when hearing the child's question. "I spend most of my time here, performing my duties. Lord Ennoc's spirit is what truly lives here, though. Seeing most of my life revolves around this Temple, one could say I live here, but my real home is someplace else, however." Alisameth then stood up again and focused her attention on the other matter at hand. "Ah, Heroica!," she exclaimed excitedly, "I don't know Orel Cayne by name or in person, but now that you mention the whole missionary debacle, plus the fact that you're from Heroica...Yes, it does ring a bell. You have to excuse me for not catching on quite as fast." "There was a Paladin here for some time, but I didn't really get his name, but he's probably the Orel you're looking for. He did vaguely mention that he had been tasked with locating that missing missionary. I do hope you find that man, though. Lost children of Our Lord deserve to be found. As for Orel, I don't think he's here any more... I believe he left the Temple some time before you arrived. From what I saw, he was heading towards the docks." -

Alisameth spoke up again, this time more hesitant, her speech pattern interrupted by long pauses between words. "Orel... Cayne? Can't really say I know that man. Would you mind expanding on the business you have with that man? Or introduce yourselves for that matter?" The priestess chuckled. "Where are my manners? My name is Alisameth. I'm the High Priestess here at the Eubric Temple of Ennoc." -

The priestess raised an eyebrow at the mention of 'Orel Cayne' and was about to speak, but then turned the subject to Ennoc to answer Lynne's other question. Her soft remained soft, but there was a certain surge in excitement that could be noticed when she spoke of the deity. Her eyes lit up and when she talked, it seemed as if she was reminiscing about some long-gone summer love, so deep was her attachment to the Lord of Light. "Oh, you silly girl! Everybody knows Ennoc. He is the Sun and the Light, omnipresent in Olegaia for without the Sun or Light, there can be no growth. He is Justice, the fabric that shapes and holds our society together. Without Justice and laws, we'd descend into chaos. We'd be naught but barbarians. Ennoc watches over us Humans and bathes us in his Warmth and stands vigilant of our interests." "The Eagle God nurtures and guides us. For what are we without Light and Justice, girl?," the priestess paused and smiled, "Nothing, darling, nothing. Savages. Barbarians. Cold-hearted individuals. We all need his Light, lest we spiral downwards and turn into degenerates without culture. Some in the Order takes this more serious than others. I, myself, believe that, as long as you try to do the right thing and allow Ennoc into your heart, that you'll be alright." The priestess blinked and shook her head slightly. Alisameth blushed lightly as she remembered Lynne originally had another question, too. "I'm sorry, dear, I got carried away. What was it you asked again?" -

Eric clamped his hand around a fiercely bleeding wound. He could take the pain, but the bleeding had to stop or the Nord would faint of fatigue and blood loss. "Unless one of you magic scholars has any bright idea or battle strategy, I'll down another of my potions. If you'd rather have me attack, well, just ask me in a nice way and I'll consider it." Eric takes a Grand Potion. -
Three brand-new and eager Heroes had been selected to find information on the lost missionary. They trotted through the winding streets of Eubric and soon found themselves at the footsteps of the grand Temple of Ennoc. The fresh Heroes were... The Party: Leofwein Twynam (Capt.JohnPaul) *Party Leader* 18 Year Old Human Barbarian Level 1 Power: 4 (1 + 3) Defense: 0 Health: 8/8 (8) Gold: 10 Equipment: War Axe (WP:3) Inventory: Potion, Mead, First Aid Kit (Completely restores health and removes all negative effects for the entire party once.) Lynne (Endgame) (20)24 Year Old Human Cleric Level 1 Power: 4 (1 + 3) Health: 9/9 (9) Ether: 5/5 (5) Gold: 10 Equipment: Oak Staff (WP: 3) Inventory: Potion, Remedy Polly & Mr. Sanders (Waterbrick Down) 9 year old female human Mage Level 1 Power: 4 (1 + 3) Health: 5/5 (5) Ether: 5/5 (5) Gold: 10 Equipment: Letter Opener (WP: 3, dagger) Inventory: Potion, Amethyst As the trio arrived at the magnificent building, they didn't really notice anyone waiting for them. Aside from the two guards, the premises seemed rather devoid of Paladins. Unsure of the course of action to take, the party ascended the steps and made their way inside the House of Light and Justice. There, they were greeted by a friendly priestess. "Greetings and salutations, strangers. How can I be of assistance?", the priestess queried in a soft voice. QM Note: A hearty welcome to my players! As always you have 24 hours to confirm your participation. Please check your stats and notify me in case I missed any last-minute purchases of any kind. Let's hope we'll have a good time together! Also, don't worry, not all pics are rip-offs. The next ones will be my own

She then silently muttered, somewhat angrily: "He didn't really tell me, though, the idiot left me a note, so he wouldn't have to talke to an Orc in person. Filthy Paladin prick." QM Note: If you'd rather not come on the Quest because of time constraints, WBD, I'll take Francis instead. Just let me know . I won't be mad at you . Heroica RPG - Quest#100: To The Tower of Babel
Khorne replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Whaaaaa? Blinded enemies can use their special? I totally forgot and simply was not aware. Crap, I really thought we had them... "FOR CRYING OUT LOUD", Eric yelled in frustration. He didn't loose his calm demeanour often, but this was one of those moments. Had it been something happy, one would use the phrase 'cherish this moment', but an furious Eric is not to be cherished. The Nord swung his blade around in anger. He wanted a drink, he needed a drink. Some Mead to help him get back on track. To help him focus. Now wasn't really the time, though, those stinking Golems had clobbered him up real good and the Nord was full of cuts and bruises all over, bleeding heavily. He looked over his shoulder and saw Peri was down, as well. Eric shook his head. "Silly girl", he thought, "She can't keep up with me, I'm just better". Still, he was kind of proud on her, she did stand her ground for a long while. Unlike, the old man. Eric grumbled. The sarge was experienced and well-equipped, one of the more heavy hitters of the party, but it seemed like old age and senility had caught up with him. "Okay, anyone got a plan to turn these walking rocks into dust?" -
REVIEW: 71007 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12
Khorne replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow! I think this is one of the better series so far. Whereas the last two (or maybe three) series didn't quite capture my attention, this one is just full of figures I want. Maybe it's because it seems quite Castle-orientated. The Hun Warrior is definitely a MUST for me and preferably more than one of these guys. I didn't even know he had a cape, something that makes me want one of those even more! Other than the Hun, the Jester is quite nice, as is the Wizard and even the Princess. The Spooky Girl is on my list, too. Gotta love that creepy teddy bear with the missing eye . Great review! Loved seeing all those figs up close . EDIT: I forgot about the Battle Godess. She's on the want list, as well. Such a great figure. I love the detailed printing on this one. The other figures seem kind of bland in my opinion. Especially the Swashbuckler. For some reason, I don't like him. Maybe it's the lack of leg printing or the lack of something "special" the others do have, I dunno .- 156 replies

Heroica RPG - Quest#100: To The Tower of Babel
Khorne replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Eric grinned at the turn of events, in the heroes' favor. He chuckled somewhat viciously as he unsheathed Godricsleif from on his back. The blade's dark energies pulsed violently and the blade hummed in a possesed, demon-like way. "Here. We. Go" The Nord charged at the Seneschal again, encouraged by Hodurr's warcry and the effects of the Smelling Salts coursing through his veins. Periwinkle licked the blood off her finger. She was hurt badly, but she kind of liked the pain. In a quick motion she put her hair, which had been disheveled by the fighting, back in order, cracked her whip and made a kissing gesture towards the Gold Golem before lashing out to him. Eric attacks the Seneschal twice, from the front row, using Godricsleif. Periwinkle attacks Gold Golem, from the front row. -
Eric still has the "record", I think, of having succesfully seduced 3 female NPC's . Who's the smoothest and most charming now ? This. Winning comment right here. Nearly forgot about him! EDIT: Also, Greenhood reminds me a lot of Denethor from LOTR and Balon Greyjoy from GOT, because of the long grey hair, mostly. EDIT 2: WBD, any reason why you didn't sign up for #111? Not that I'm holding it against you, though . Is the reward not high enough, or the pitch enticing or is it just lack of time on your side? Just wanted to know, so I can take your thoughts into consideration when making a pitch and setting a reward next time.

Heroica RPG - Quest#100: To The Tower of Babel
Khorne replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
The situation looked dire. Eric doubted on the course of action to take. Slowly, he took out one of his Smeling Salts and used it. Then he attacked teh Senschal once more, hoping the Druid would pull off some kind o miracle and keep the party alive. Eric uses Smelling Salts. Eric attacks the Seneschal, using Conspirator. Periwinkle repeats. -
Okay, thanks for your answer. Hopefully, another level 1 will come out of dormancy or pop-up and sign-up!

"Goddamnit," Eric barked as he uncorked one of his Grand Potions and chugged it down. He tossed the empty vial aside and relayed Althior's orders to Peri. Periwinkle attacks the Golden Golem from the back row. -

"The Seneschal is blinded, he won't be attacking us for a while. I'll take one of the other golems down in the meantime", Eric shouted to Althior, his voice booming over the clamour of battle. Eric attacks the Mud Golem from the front row, this time using Godricsleif -
First off, I'd like to state: my internet issues are over! I can now post normal again, without having to wait half a day until my post is actually posted . So, I can be more active again. Do you have a more specific estimate, Flipz? It's not that I want to discriminate against higher-level players, but I really made the quest with lower level players in mind, since there were actually a whole lot of tima at the time I posted the Quest, but many of them seem inactive . I really wanted to get to learn the QM'ing mechanisms again with some basic classes, there's not a whole lot of challenge in my Quest for higher-levels unless I retailor it and adjust the reward and stuff. Because, let's admit: 75 gold isn't a whole lot of incentive for an advanced player to spend a month on a Quest for. I'll extend the deadline just a wee bit more, to wait for an answer (and hoping some level 1's will pop up) . If #104's end is too far away, I'll definitely start the quest Monday. Sorry for testing your patience, all people who have signed up . EDIT Here's the header as a teaser .

Heroica RPG - Quest#100: To The Tower of Babel
Khorne replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Periwinkle gave Nur a dumb look as if not understanding what he was trying to say. Which was in truth, the case. It took her some moments before she realized what the mage was trying to say. She nodded and then handed the bomb to Dain. Sorry for my absence somewhat. I'm having difficulties with my internet connection and it's almost impossible to post anything decent here. It should be up and running normal again tuesday. I'll try to keep up and post once a day, but I can't promise anything. In case of a battle and I'm not here, K-Nut can control both Eric and Peri. -
Heroica RPG - Quest#100: To The Tower of Babel
Khorne replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
Eric rolled his eyes. Just their kind of luck. The sorceror is half-blind and probably wouldn't have seen it were humans slinging mud on themselves. Now, the party was stuck to play a card game first. Nur was the only one with cards, so Eric waited for his answer, while mumbling against Althior, "Can't we just kill this rockling and get it over with?" -

Eric stared at the events unfolding before him. He blinked in surprise as the golems made their way out of the gate. "What use are broken golems with missing parts as guards?", he asked to none in particular, somewhat puzzled. The Nord then nodded in agreement with the alchemist's suggestion. "Let's get this over with and blast this tower." -
Heroica RPG - Quest#100: To The Tower of Babel
Khorne replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Wait, what?", Eric rubbed his eyes in disbelief. Why would anyone build a house out of gingerbread. The building defied logic and common sense and that aggrevated Eric. "Not hungry anymore. Let's go, Peri. We'll find something to eat somewhere else" He trotted off, tailing the party. He hoped they were getting closer to that tower already. -
Thanks, Flipz! Like it has been said, in an RPG like this, you need to work together and even if the characters don't get along or can't work together, that shouldn't mean the same for the players. I'd hate to take the fun out of the game for other players, just because my style of play with my character is annoying or difficult to work with. It's like K-Nut said: I try to set limits of character rudeness for myself. If I can achieve Eric's goals I'll try to do so by winning over the other players in my party. What I won't do, is doing whatever I want without other players' (semi-)consent. An example: Eg.: if Eric were a party leader and he wants to kill some NPC and the party says no, I'll try to win them over in killing the NPC and siding with Eric. I don't need all PCs on my side, just a few, so I know that I'm not ruining the majority's fun. If none want to follow Eric's action (because he's a moron), then I just rest my case and try to RP my way out of the situation . In both cases, I RP'ed Eric's nature: he wants to kill the NPC for whatever reason and in both cases the party (and me )would be relatively happy with the outcome, so I, as a player, have not ruined the experience for the other players. Even though I wouldn't get what I want in the non-killing case, Eric would have made an RP point/statement, thus defining his character further. I hope the example kind of made sense . Thanks for the positive feedback, though . I try my best .
