We're you trying to... prove your point? (Oh the irony, right...) Ska, I have no further plans for Merith, at least not ATM... except that I'd better add this build into the character thread...

Congrats! Seriously though, those were pretty good, even without sound. And I do think it is possible that Craggers turns good soon, the only problem there is that the croc tribe really is following him, not Crooler, so if he turns good she's left with... the wolves, I guess?

Nice job, the size of this is really impressive! The glass is well done, way to get out of not having enough bricks!

Great job, I love the way you gave it a sheltered feel by putting walls on both sides! The upper story especially looks awesome, and you've got some great details there with the flowers and candle/flame holders!

Well, now that is strange. Worked for me last night (I think it was?), but now I'm just going straight to Bios. Oh well, Mr. Gold's bio wasn't too spectacular.- 1,076 replies

Not sure I'm a huge fan of the general overcoat printed on legs thing, as it means that that pair of legs can only go with a few torsos. But then it does look good with the specified torso - so I guess it's a bit of a trade-off.

Thanks for those pics, Llew, so we don't get the how-to-assemble-minifigs on the back, instead Mr. Gold - and he has a staff? That and the painter's bucket - two examples of non-shown accessories! Anyway this series is looking pretty neat. Can't wait for Whitefang's review!- 1,076 replies

A couple things, for one, Gideon, yes it's perfectly fine to MOC in a different guild (and there are some verdant areas in Kaliphlin), and also: I quote from the Nocturnus thread. As far as him stepping down from Guild Leadership, he suggested a topple-the-lord challenge, (which almost makes me wish I were nocturnian...) In part I agree with MK, there's still a lot of Historica proper to be MOCed, let's not rush too fast to open up more land! -

Honestly prizes are a huge motivation for me, partly because of my limited collection - a forty dollar set can make a huge difference in what I am able to build. I'm all for trophies as well though. I do think we should be careful not to throw too many rules out there. For those of us that are already quite familiar with GoH it might not be a problem, but we certainly don't want to discourage any newcomers, one of the things I found most discouraging about LCC was several topics full of rules. As it is we just have one or two, plus the guild topics, which doesn't feel quite so overwhelming. I agree with whoever it was that said some of the best builds here have been free-builds, I do agree that we need some sort of a story arc but lets make sure there's still plenty of free-building incentive! -

I agree with dG on that point, other than that the constitution looks great, I'll look over it again I think, though there is (naturally) a lot of "Book II" specific info in there. You might want to break it up, so that you've got the main constitution - w/o specific reference to the next chapter, and then the application to the next chapter (that way you don't have to sift through as much one we've gotten to, say, the third chapter), -

GCF, my guess is that Mini was referring to LEGO's YouTube channel as being a medium for "official" releases. Not that just any YouTube user uploading the movie would be considered official.- 4,591 replies

Nice job, as others have mentioned the Chima figs look great here! Honestly what you've got right now seems to say Mitgardian to me, just because they have the rocky up-to-the-sky mountains, but of course my bias says join Kaliphlin!

Actually Minifigs can hold both the S3 Motorcycle man's helmet and the S6 Space Girl's helmet in their hands as shown in the picture (of course they can't wave their arms around like that, and the space helmet is actually longer than the fig's legs, but it has a clip area where you can have them hold it. The motorcycle helmet is a bit trickier, but still possible).- 1,076 replies

GCF, I'm assuming that your definition of a lowest tier anything would have to be a nameless character? I really don't think so, you have an army of short, rabbit toothed snakes or you call them all Chokun. What's the big deal? On the basis of that I would say Chima has a few lower tier army building characters - in the movie there are clearly more than one of some released (named) characters, maybe it seems silly to have a dozen figs with the same name, but for one thing you can easily use your imagination, or, hey, it's a fantasy world anyways! Lots of nameless characters can be great if you/your parents have no problem spending a lot on LEGO, but if not, I personally would rather have the named stars instead of Joe the clone pilot that got blown up or whatever. Besides like Faefrost said, there are army builders in some themes, and the CMF line is great for that too. Anyway, on the original topic, I have to agree that all the LR sets look fantastic. In general, LEGO does seem to have been getting better with building techniques, etc. Even if the sets aren't amazing in themselves, in nine cases out of ten the pieces are tremendously useful!

Of course, but that's the entire argument - there weren't any fig parts not in the pictures after S2, and since that was in S2, it doesn't really answer the question. With all the other examples that have been pointed out, though, there obviously have been - though not in the case of hat/wig, and personally I doubt the soldier would include a tricorn. Of course I'd love it if there was, but it does seem unlikely.- 1,076 replies

Guilds of Historica Introduction/General Discussion Thread
Kai NRG replied to I Scream Clone's topic in Guilds of Historica
I agree, the problem is war between the guilds would be very complicated, since who's to decide who wins? We could maybe have some sort of system, if someone wanted a war they could work it out with the other person (basically an interactive series of MOCs), and then they could decide who should win/what the consequences would be. I do agree with dG about not going too far into the pirate era, that takes away too much of the castle-building incentive. Fifty yrs later sounds like a good idea to me - it would give us the opportunity of changing figs or not as we liked, and still I think gives us the opportunity to MOC either with or without gunpowder as we like. Of course if we do have inter-guild/character wars than it would be in everyone's best interest to get gunpowder ASAP. And something occurred to me while I was writing that - wouldn't it be pretty cool if a group of say 10 from any of the guild (or a combination thereof) sort of took over and became the new enemy? Hmm... and I don't even have the excuse of being tired... -
It has happened before though, check out the Collectible Minifigures Series 7 Viking Lady.

Microscale building tips and techniques?
Kai NRG replied to AngleBrick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
ShaydDeGrai gave you some great tips, especially about learning to love small pieces - cheese slopes, headlight bricks, round 1x1s, small tiles - all that stuff is really useful when you're going micro. I really love building Micro myself, there's just something about that scale that is so cool! In general I don't have a plan/refference when I build, I just start snapping pieces together - sometimes I work until I find an interesting combo or technique; for this (yes, I built that, though it's not my photostream), I jumped on the build as soon as I realized that I could stick four 2x1 plates on a 2x2 - and then put at lightsaber hilt inside that would allow me to attach the top. Headlight bricks are very useful, as they can give the impression of doors or windows (depending on scale) besides some interesting piece rotation not possible otherwise (letting me to attach both sides of this, for example). Sometimes the build can be really simple (and mixing micro and minifigure scale builds can work really well, for example this simple build in a larger minifigure size setting): Here's another fairly simple design, but that works pretty well and uses quite a few headlight bricks to attach everything: Sometimes a micro can revolve around a single piece (this isn't mine, but it illustrates the point really well): or an interesting combination of the same pieces: And of course Micro building can be great for Forced Perspecitive! I hope that was helpful, have fun and I look forward to seeing some micro builds from you!- 4 replies
