Thanks to everybody! Appreciate all the comments! Thanks! I hope the well-salted fish made up for it? Thanks Kabel! Oh yeah... knew I had gone wrong somewhere there...

Kaliphlin Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion

Sorry to be a day late... but anyway here's day 11: Also great to see you back Gabe! -
Thanks guys! Yeah, seems to be party time! (Though I'm working on a build that is the reverse of party now...) You were easy... I just had to go grab you off my brother's build... Thanks Gideon, I hope I keep improving!

One year ago the day before a month from now today I joined GoH with a silly little post... (just to make it clear I joined July 25th... but since free-builds end in June I'm going to get it in now... and silly me didn't check and thought it was the 26th instead of 25th... ) Oh well, close enough! In celebration of the momentous event, Ageven had a retreat built, right on the outskirts of the Withered Woods: Apologies to those of you whose sig-figs were wandering in the rest of the elaborate gardens! From left to right; Cara, Damaximus, Kabel (half behind the Kaliphlin flag pole) Dr. Rod, Legonardo, Gad (just his head), Gideon, and Erynlasgalen. A random Valaryian, equally random Falcon (Captain Nemo), with Masa and Jason on the other side... Prepare for the feast! Actually those torsos work better than I had expected... I just love that horse design... And the star of the show... a massive cake! Threw in a smaller cake in case there wasn't enough. And because I've been wanting to use the ruff like that and finally found a way! C&C welcome! This is I think my biggest (other than my Botanical Gardens which will reign supreme I believe), and probably one of my best! I hope you enjoyed it, I only wish I had actually joined GoH a year ago today... but this way I might just have to do two parties!

Inside Kaliphlin Day 10- Amrakect Market
Kai NRG replied to Erynlasgalen's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great job, especially with the 1x1 rounds in the wall by twos like that, that's a really great idea that I might try out one day! Also love the flags and the business of the MOC! -
Guilds of Historica Character Location and Facts
Kai NRG replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
@TheLegoDr, I'd be happy to add you as soon as you have a character ready! Just let me know! Also, I've decided to change the format somewhat (though I haven't done anything yet and probably won't until July, rather busy until then), I think DM had a good point about the lives and what-not, so I've decided to put the lives under spoilers (for those who have information listed), and make the list more of a sig-fig link list + current location, if applicable, with background information available if desired, but not cumbering the list. As I mentioned, I won't be able to do anything for a while, but when I have a good few hours to myself I'll try to get it done! -
Nice job, especially with the landscaping, and the tower windows are a nice touch as well!

Approaching the Elves of the Northwest Mountains
Kai NRG replied to Str0ngbad's topic in Guilds of Historica
Very nice job, in particular with the cheese mosaic! It looks very nice with the elven arches though maybe it would look better sans tan? The tan just doesn't seem to go with the sand green very well, but it could likely be just me. Nice job both with the base and also with the snow scape. Any particular reason for the 'legs' though? -
Guilds of Historica Character Location and Facts
Kai NRG replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
Actually, that wasn't the reason, I thought you MOCed his death? Or something like that, I can't quite remember now. At least I put a question mark since I wasn't sure... Anyway I'll edit that right away. @Wedge, I'll try to do that soon. Have been meaning to do an update for a while, but it can be hard to find a suitable time! -
Thanks! Thanks! I saw someone stick a LR crow on a hair piece (not that one though) and I thought it was an excellent idea! Thanks Gabe! They do look wind-up like... I debated on whether to make it sightseeing or hunting. But then I figured hunting the cute birds would kind of spoil it...

Fantastic job Masa, love the water and the half boulder use, as well as the forced perspective... just beautiful! Nice to see a bird in it! Actually, Kaliphlin is certainly the guild with most Asian influence and it has been depicted in the past (though not often).

Inside Kaliphlin Day 9 -- The Triumphal Arch of Petraea
Kai NRG replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great job ska, I really like the coloring and the road also looks great! This is actually probably my favorite of yours so far, really like the hugeness of it! Should I say that it's too true? -

Better act fast... the Darcis fall in eight days... Took us (me, since I did the first PMing) from the 27th of April... about two months! (Wow man, I hadn't realized it took that long... ) Congrats ZC! -
That tan rockwork is beautiful, and the flowers and foliage in front really add to it, great job! And of course the fall looks really nice!

Inside Kaliphlin Day 6 - The Great Dragonboat Race

Great job robuko, especially on the dragon boat and the forced perspective dunes! Also great work with the base, I'll have to try a base like that soon! -
BookII Varlyrio Guild: Homepage (currently not open for new members)
Kai NRG replied to MikeyB's topic in Guilds of Historica
There generally aren't official reactions. But yeah, you are allowed to change your guild. Though of course you can't change to one that's not open. -
Really awesome job here Gideon, every time I look at it it looks better, the smoothness of the build is beautiful! Excellent job portraying the dunes, and I hope those who were wanting some sand are satisfied!

Great job deGothia, I like the idea of using a turban for the clothes, though for the life of me I thought it was a decapitated head before I realized the head was backwards... I also really like those stools! Might have to steal borrow!
-
Excellent job, the rockwork and the water are both fantastic. The net around the boat is a great touch too!

Thanks! Yeah, it was actually easier to keep out of the pictures than I had anticipated. I used these (about five or six I think, in brown if that makes any difference) attached with these. I thought about posting a 'behind the scenes' picture, but figured that would spoil it... I hope so! I was counting on that though since there is lava pouring down the sides it might erupt pretty frequently and keep the birds away... but why am I pointing out reasons for my build not to make sense? Thanks! I put enough work into making sure everything ended in straight edges that I figured I shouldn't let it go to waste!

Inside Kaliphlin Day 4- Qar-Akhen Marshes
Kai NRG replied to Erynlasgalen's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great job! The swamp and plants are very nice and I like those birds as well! And the jutting rocks work very well! Too funny! -
Thanks Kayne and deGothia! Now I know why it's the Lone Mountain... Thanks, yes, quite a few bird types up there... Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying the tours. Yes, there are quite a few birds. I actually had more like five or six species in one of the WIPs when the improbability of them getting along was pointed out to me...
-
Thanks Mini! I guess you mean bird action... yeah I used a bit of trickery with the flying one! Thanks Kabel, it's great to hear you say that. Not sure I'll have another bird scene anytime soon but I might have a few more animals up my sleeve...
-
Thanks to everyone, I'm really glad you liked the birds! Thanks SK! I wasn't exactly trying to use Eklund's design (I actually forget where I got the idea from), but it took me quite a while to come up with the strutter! More than the Mitgardians can boast of though... Thanks, I'm glad you didn't think it was a contradiction. I was kind of worried about that with lava pouring down the mountainside on the map... Again, thanks to all!
