0? Really? And my 5HA found nothing? Oh well. Betterer than some of people... Glad to see another MRCA... hopefully the next one won't take so long!

Very cozy looking house LJ, I really like the colors you've chosen for it especially the dark blue roof! The little details like the birds and mushrooms add a lot! The only thing I'm not so sure about is the stream - it seems to be too dark a shade of blue considering how small it is - a lighter trans-blue, or even trans clear, might have looked more realistic and gone better with the sand green & brown. On the other hand though, that cheese slope technique does look really good!

[ESL] A Hall for the Colonial Council
Kai NRG replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Fantastic build man, lots to love here! The first picture is a really neat way to introduce it, and the rows of desks look great! I really like the back wall too, and I'm really impressed by how many sig-figs you've got here!- 18 replies

Very nice build, the wall texture looks great! So is the little well and I like the activity you've added with the various minifigures! The tree sticking up back there looks a little strange though... where is it growing from? Behind the wall I suppose, but how come such a thin stem is able to support it that high? And why doesn't it have some lower branches too? But other than that it looks really good!

Great idea. The cactus looks really nice! The rest of the furniture is great too, and I really like the half-stud offset for the chimney!

Thanks Garmadon! Of course; Guy is far too busy to bother cutting weeds! You're welcome! That would be for plantations, yes. Otherwise it's way too broad! Thanks! Thank you!

Thanks Puvel! Thank you! Well, as far as it goes, all I do is take a nice big sheet of white paper outside. Then with a bit of brightness-contrast touch-up - and often the color temperature needs to be warmed up - works great usually! It probably doesn't hurt that I've got a nice camera... But really, taking pictures outside in the shade can work wonders!

Ever since Uncle’s disappearance, Guy had been feeling awfully low spirited. He would never have admitted it, of course, but so it was. At first he had thrown himself heartily into the goings on – you know, the signing of the Magna Charta, the creation of the Constitution, and that sort of stuff. But in fact, without Uncle around, he was feeling pretty lost. Proof positive: he had started talking to his old apple tree out back. Time was, Guy aired his speeches on his Uncle. He’d wax grandiloquent over the dinner table and throw out dramatic flourishes as practice for his secretarial duties. But he couldn’t rant over a solitary meal. Mostly because he had an idea that the butler was keeping a close eye on him. So today he was just lounging around, and suddenly found himself in front of a neglected old apple tree. Apples. Guy remembered how his Uncle hated them. From remembering how Uncle hated apples, to remembering that he was due for a speech announcing MAESTRO’s monopoly, was an easy step. (Even just thinking to himself, Guy caught himself and mechanically switched to maestro.) Guy looked around carefully. No one in sight. He could practice safely, without his butler thinking that he had lost his mind. “Citizens of Eslandola!” he began. No, that wouldn’t do: it was so – well, in fact, it had an Oleonish ring to it. “Ladies and Gentlemen!” But that sounded like something a Corry would say. “Bah! Let’s get to the point already. It is my great pleasure to announce to you... but that’s not true. I could hardly care less about the matter. Fact is, there’s not much I care about at all these days. Really, I think I should go on a good ol’ fashioned treasure hunt. Find me a map or sumthin’. Or maybe I should – should – turn harpooner and go on a whaling cruise. Or go live with the Indians for a summer. *Ahem!* Ladies and Gentlemen – green and red apples all – excuse my rambling. To resume. It has fallen to my lot to present to the honorable Trading Company, the Mpya-Steador All-Encompassing S… S… Something… what on earth does that S stand for?!? Statistical? Satirical? Satani-never mind. I ramble. Begging your pardon, apples. I hereby present maestro – I mean, MAESTRO – no – well, yes… What’s a man to say? Put it to yourselves, apples. I say maestro, I offend the reds. I say MAESTRO, I offend the greens. Or vice versa. Well, well. Civilized life’s a tightrope. That summer with the Indians is looking better and better, as long as I can be sure they’re not cannibals. I hereby present a certain Trading Company with – an apple monopoly! Ha! Yes, Guy, that’ll do admirably. Walk up onto the platform and say that. And watch the apples fly – at you. What has become of my flair for dramatics? I can’t seem to think up anything. I’ll probably blank out this afternoon. Yes, I can see it, plain as if it were already happening in front of me. I clear my throat a half a dozen times, smile all round, just manage to choke out – ‘I present… someone… with… something!’ Ha!” And Guy whirled around and strode back towards the house, still muttering to himself. In the end, he wrote his speech out on a fancy placard and nailed it to the Town Hall building, instead. A quick little build to announce MAESTRO's new Apple Plantation Monopoly!

[COR - DEC FB1] Widow's Hattery, Stormhaven, Serentia
Kai NRG replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great build ayrlego, the siding looks great and the mangroves and water is awesome! I really like that roof style too, but it looks maybe a little too regular - a few discolored tiles, or maybe a chimney sticking up, or a few leaves on it, might make it feel more real? The gutter pipe is a great touch though and the porches are really well done!- 14 replies

Thanks Garmadon! The inside court was a lot of fun! Thank you! I really like the Mediterranean style, so hopefully I'll get a chance to build more in it! Thanks Slegengr! Thank you! I was trying to build a bench, but it looked more like a pump so... it became a pump. Thanks! Yes, that is a pretty neat color! Thanks Kolonialbeamter! The story isn't really the strong point of this MOC, but I had to wrap it up somehow...

The shape of the base here is really unique and looks good, though I have a nagging feeling that your pictures aren't presenting it from the best angles. Also the little black tree sticks out oddly and is maybe a bit of an eyesore. But don't be discouraged, because if I'm saying those things it's because this is a really good MOC and so the detracting points stand out in sharper contrast. You did a great job with the stonework, particularly on the round tower! And the palisade looks good as well!

Very nice little chapel, the bits of light grey texture look great and I really like the color the roof adds! Nice work on the landscaping too!

AoM Phase II - Mitgardian Archery Practice
Kai NRG replied to Garmadon's topic in Guilds of Historica
Neat little vig Garmadon, the dark & sand green go together very nicely! As you already know I think the larger tree looks a bit funny and out of place, but the other one is great!- 13 replies

Very nice build LJ, those arches look great here and the throne area is really well done! The merchandise looks good as well, and I really like the candlesticks!

Great collab guys, KolonialBeamter's build is jaw-droppingly huge and the architectural details of the building are great! So are the vineyard out back and the flower gardens out front! Really neat idea, Phred, with the blades for the roof, and the carriage shape is well done also! Captain Genaro's gappy dark red wall looks excellent, and a really creative idea to build that under the soil... though, it does seem to me like there isn't much depth of earth for anything to grow...

Eslandola's Colonial Council - Discussion
Kai NRG replied to Garmadon's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Since there's no rule against having three positions, I guess currently in theory that should be possible. But I imagine people are less likely to vote for someone who already has another position - and very unlikely to vote for or choose someone who already has two. That sounds great! Yes, as far as I had thought of it I had kind of assumed that people wouldn't be holding more than two positions. I'd not be adverse to making that law, either. I don't think we should absolutely ban meeting without a MOC, but allowing builders to host meetings by building an MOC does sound like a great idea! -
Warmer November!?! It was something like 93 degrees here yesterday! That aside, those waves look fabulous! Pretty interesting how you did both rightsideup and upsidedown leaves on the same stem... I'm not quite sure how well it works though!
-
The blend of colors on the wood work to create a rumble down feel is pretty effective here, and good work on the roof too! Intriguing developments also!
-
The micro sleigh up there is brilliant! Great use of colors for the sunset too and I love your nano King!
