  1. As you may recall, Guy’s Uncle had a wonderful get-rich-quick scheme. He plotted to force Eslandola’s cities to buy his hang-resistant palm trees so that justice could always be close at hand (having to walk to the beach was very annoying). So Uncle showed up one day as Guy was chilling out from a long day of work setting up the new Colonial Council, by admiring a model of a ship he had recently commissioned for the MCTC. “I’ve got a job for you.” “Uncle!?!?!?” “I’m going into the palm tree business.” “Um… I… how did you – palm tree business? You’ve been in that one ever since I can remember!” “I'm taking it to new heights. And I want you to help me.” “Um… well… yeah, that would be great, but – well, I’m kind of like… really busy right now…” Guy’s Uncle looked around the porch, clearly unconvinced. “I was just – taking a little break,” Guy explained. “Mm-hmm. What’s that?” Uncle pointed with his stick to the miniature ship. “Oh… it’s a little model ship. The original should be completed soon and chartered by the MCTC.” “Wyndzon Shipwrights?” “No, actually – a MAESTRO shipwright is building it for us. That is…” Guy instantly regretted having mentioned this fact. He went on, talking as fast as he could, “I really am very busy. Besides, you know me. Never could grow anything. Don’t have a green thumb!” “No, that’s not the sort of help I need. I want you to legislate a new requirement. Each city must have a grove of palm trees in the town square. To facilitate executing justice.” “Oh! That’s an interesting… well, let’s see. We have to wait until a new Admius Legistrad is elected, but then we could introduce the piece of legislation before the Colonial Council, and if they pass it…” “What?” “Oh! I had forgotten – you weren’t here – see, we developed a new constitution! Eslandola now has a Continental Council – that’s me, Wilkinson, Filamento, and Guilder – he’s been added recently – and we’re busy electing a Colonial Council – eight positions, three seats each. Exciting times, don’t you think, Uncle? We didn’t go to pieces without you, after all!” Guy rubbed his hands nervously and glanced at his Uncle, who seemed less than impressed. “No! You’ve done worse!” “Worse?” “Yes! You’ve gone mad! Stark, staring mad! Constitution, forsooth! Constitution be hung!” Guy’s Uncle left in a huff, but turned back to shout, “I’ll get you for this, or you aren’t my nephew! You can’t change Eslandola’s government system with impunity! It’ll come back to haunt you – mark my words!” This was a fairly quick vig mainly to advance the storyline... I'm getting a little tired of scenes that are just two people talking, and went a little wild with the colors on this one. To put it mildly. C&C welcome... and the sequel should come soon as Uncle begins to take his revenge...
  2. No problem! It never hurts to ask! (At least, not very often. )
  3. Neat to see Fontonajo bringing his campaign into other cities of Nellissa... he sounds like he'll be a popular candidate! The simplistic style of this build works well, I really like the double stripes of green and the architectural details introduced with the more elaborate tan pieces!
  4. Really pretty ship Titus, your month of work sure paid off! The shape and colors are great, and I love the dragons on front and back! And the sail design is the icing on the cake! Great job!
  5. Excellent build SK, the landscape colors are fantastic and contrast really well with the bright canopy colors! Speaking of colors, the Kaliphlin red and dark blue look great! The horse's pose is spot on!
  6. I really like how you've transformed this into a series - this is a really nice little vig, including the palm tree was a great idea!
  7. The colorscheme is fantastic, and I also really like the base - great tan walkways - and the roofs especially on top of the wall - a really good way to achieve what I've tried once in a while and usually end up despairing of!
  8. Great work with the carvings on the stones! The lawn sections are well done too!
  9. Great castle SK, the dark grey colorscheme goes well with the snow and gives it a solid feel! The red is certainly eye-catching and is growing on me - I definitely like the diagonals! Nice roofs too, and the interior looks great! I love the candles attached to the walls!
  10. Another cool red cheese roof! The curve roof over the oven is great too, and there's something eye-catching about those rows of neatly stacked bricks! The little dashes of vibrant green add a lot to this build, also!
  11. Edit: I changed my mind. But don't forget the Prince Fernando, which usually goes on the Double Duty!
  12. Elostirion ninja'd me, but anyhow: Nope, you're character doesn't have to wear green, and no, he doesn't have to have a Spanish influenced name either - mine is a bit Dutch, and a bit French, and bit just me. You could strike a deal with another BoBS member and buy a ship MOC from that person. It wouldn't be called chartering though. For getting an idea of what's needed to build a ship, you might want to start browsing at the index here!
  13. Well, I guess I must have then! I know right, what's an Eslandian who cares more about his hairdo than his bank account? But that's what happens when Uncle runs off to grow palm trees...
  14. Yes, they don't look incredibly like palm trees at that stage, and I would have liked to build a forest full of more full grown ones, but I sure didn't have the pieces for that! So I did a little research, and as far as I could tell this is sort of what some varieties (there are quite a few!) look like in growing stage! Thanks! Thank you! Thanks blackdeathgr! Nice pun! Thanks! Yes, I do separate it every time - I think it looks better in a MOC with semi-distinct lines of each color. As it happened, I bumped this one as I was going out the door, so my lines got a little intermingled, but I did try to keep them more or less separate. Thanks! That'll probably be its destiny some day... And Uncle is always ready to hang people. Me on the other hand - it can be hard to find time. Thank you!
  15. Thanks Capt Wolf! I really like this Mediterranean style, so hopefully I can find some other excuses to keep building in it! Thanks Elostirion! I had forgotten about the sponsorship - I don't think I licensed it, by the way. Though in fact, I can't quite remember.
  16. Looks like you already found it, but in case anyone else is asking the question - here!
  17. Wow. This is pretty massively awesome - love the roof, and the bell tower too. Great architectural details as well - the white in and out offsets on the corners especially stand out! I really like how this has a sort of foundation/basement visible also - and that's a pretty neat carriage!
  18. Nice micro Elostirion, I really like how you included the fort up on the hill back there! The story's progressing well also! There seems to be a little lacking in the FP though - I would suggest a lower angle, maybe putting the fort down lower, nearer to the micro, also. But FP isn't easy, and yours gets the point across!
  19. Pretty fantastic MOC! I really like the way you did the two towers out front, with the crumbling stone revealing the skeleton woodwork! The windows also look great, and impressive landscape!
  20. Very nice build ZC, I really like the way you did the hangings over the stands, and the colors also give it a very traditional Kaliphlin feel! The story is getting interesting too! Only, I hope no one expects me to side with the Desert King upon any consideration...
  21. Amazing fort! Starting at ground level here - I love how you did the lighter green, then darker green on top verging towards the fort! The slanted walls are great too, and you've got a seriously impressive amount of masonry bricks! The house looks excellent too... all it needs is an Eslandian flag! Great work!
  22. Very nice siege tower! The black trees are great too, and I really like the arrows sticking around!
  23. But the Nova Terreli forts are public property, not private. This would be much different if someone was talking over a private, licensed artisan or something. As said, the fort kabel built was never even licensed - not even by the crown! It was just tacitly assumed to be one of the two previously un-MOCed forts already located at Nova Terreli. It doesn't have to be. Why can't Fontonajo take public forts over, in character, given the storyline of revolt from the King? They aren't kabel's forts - they're Eslandola's forts. And the storyline went that the King granted them to the Viceroy, but when the Viceroy disappears (I don't mean OOC, I mean, IC, kabel actually MOCed the Viceroy lost in the jungle!), I don't see anything wrong with the command of the forts being taken over by someone else, any more than I would see something wrong with mayors being changed if one mayor disappeared and acknowledged his disappearance.. I'm sorry if kabel was annoyed by this action; I got the impression that what he didn't like was the bickering over EGS subjects. I think it would be easier to talk directly to him if this did bother him, so I'd suggest setting up a PM on the subject if you think it needs to be discussed further.
