The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Another Brick In The Wall replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Should have "58008" instead. -
I can't speak on behalf of the creator, however if the park size chess pieces are minifig scale (see below) and the entire project is limited to a 32 x 32 baseplate then logically it's going to take up a large chunk of the set.

How many extra pieces did this require? Was it expensive?

Totally in love with Modular Autumn Park, designed by fellow Eurobricker, wetwired (of Echo-1 and Stay-Puft fame). Eurobricks discussion thread: The attention to detail of this project is amazing. -
Just another question -- Is there a reason why the Chess board is orientated in that fashion? Would it not make more sense to align the board so man sitting on the bench is directly behind the pieces? (Ok that's two questions)

I can't quite figure out what piece you used for the rook......?

Wonderful work wetwired! Are there many pieces that are presently unavailable?

In my experience as an attorney, an "exclusive license" works both ways. The reason why MegaBlocks cannot design, manufacture and market Star Wars construction toys is the same reason anybody else from outside TLG cannot design, manufacture and market Star Wars construction toys. In such cases, exclusivity protects the licensor as much as it protects the licensee. At this point you may be inclined to argue that TLG has the final say on the design and holds all rights to the final product. The counter argument to this is that 3 per cent commission (or whatever its) IDEAS projects earn for the designer may be interpreted as a royalty fee (courts take a "substance over form" approach to such matters) in which case it breaches the terms of a non-transferable license (trust me, they are all non-transferable). In any case, it is highly unlikely TLG could support a claim they made "substantial contribution" to the product design. Each SW LEGO product also requires the approval of somebody at Disney so there's also that to consider. -

Which is your project? Anyhow you can forget about Jedi Temple and BB-8 -- like others have suggested in this thread, all pre-existing license IDEAS projects should be canned, because they contravene the standard terms of the license agreement (preventing third parties from using/profiting from the license) -

The traditional excuses are a traditionally weaker currency (Australian exports are mostly primary resources as opposed to capital intensive goods), transportation costs for bulkier items, and historical reasons.- 4,155 replies

Somebody made that claim on another forum -- admittedly I didn't fact-check it. Shaun of the Dead was another that made it to 10K in less than two months. -

I would be just one Modular plus the creation of a new theme. This is what they would have done with Western Modular Town but for the license conflict with Lone Ranger. Three Creator modulars will be retired this year (Pet Shop, Palace Cinema and Parisian Restaurant) so demand for Modular Buildings will be there. An annual Modular (released in Winter) makes plenty of sense if you think about it. Btw, Victorian London Christmas was the second fastest CUUSOO/IDEAS project to reach 10,000 votes. -

Well, for the record, i voted for TYS and naturally would buy it. I just want Victorian London Christmas (and perhaps 20,000 Leagues) more ;) -

"Drugs occurred, like everything else, in almost wearisome profusion. The need dated from Hamburg and the months without sleep; it remained, amid the dizzying fame, to prop their eyes open through each night's arduous pleasure. Now the pills were bright-colored, like new clothes and cars--French Blues, Purple Hearts, Black Bombers, and Yellow Submarines. The reflex grew in their growing boredom with everyday pleasures. More exciting than worship or sex, champagne or new toys, was to swallow a pill, just to see what would happen." Source: Shout!" the definitive Beatles biography p. 272 Yellow Submarine is temazapam Source: Google. Temazapam tablets have more than a passing resemblance to the Yellow Submarine model Source: Google images. HTH. -

No issues other than being a euphemism for a drug they were on at the time. -

I doubt much K'Nex has the license THe BBT and the Beatles are not really comparable licenses though so I'm not sure how far you can stretch the analogy. So we don't know whether it economically viable for TLG to license it for one set, which has limited demographic appeal. (And let's be honest, if I was a Beatles fan, I would have purchased the almost identical K'nex model in the last 4 years.) Also, the subject matter of the project is highly questionable material for the image of TLG. -

Sorry I meant it was available until 2015. Ultimately, I think the success of the TYS IDEAS project will depend on whether TLG can see long-term use of the license because the license Beatles license is costly. I'm not so sure that the case. Also they i feel the minifigs will need to drastically changed from how they appear in the IDEAS project to bring them more in-line with the film (as evident in the IDEAS project). -

A couple of years when Western Modular Town was under review, CUUSOO made some comments suggesting had the project been accepted they would have released only the Saloon building. It was ultimately rejected only because of conflict with the Lone Ranger license. This suggests that they were willing to accept a larger project back then. As for Yellow Submarine, the license is held by K'Nex -

I could be mistaken but the only reason Doctor was removed was because they receive a C&D.....or am I thinking of Jurassic Park?
