  1. How bout box them legoland rides into sets one by one
  2. same here, its too bricked for my tastes also, and remember, its keeping the base plates look like its part of the modular line. earlier when i just started building my city, i actually built modulars on the road baseplates themselves since i had no 2x2 gray tiles. the effect on the feel of the city however seemed too tight, not much space on the sidewalks, especially for the town hall.
  3. For the sake of easy re arrangement of the modulars, i simply remove the light gray 1x6, 1x8 tiles that majority of the modulars come with and put it nearest to the road of the road base plate, then place 2x2 dark gray tiles that connects it to the road plates and all throughout the road base plate. You need lots of 2x2 dark gray tiles to do this. Makes an expanded sidewalk but still stays true to the modular sidewalk design. Click my city below to see pictures of it
  4. is it really the product? or a lot of people here are simply fans of jamie? don't see these kind of "hype" from other lego designers

And so another batch of PAB orders arrived.... Unfortunately Small Car Company was not allowed by the Mayor to construct within the city center, and was forced to open in the suburbeach district. Hence the delay of construction for months... But now the dealership is finally about to open and here's a preview of the facility: Though the owners could not decide if the facade was better this way... It was a bidding war between Octan and Shell for lubricant supplies... I guess they won About the same time the dealership was under construction the bike shop from the flag strip moved beside them. Here they have a bigger showroom to display their stuff. Management hopes that without the metro in the suburbeach area, sales of bicycles and motorcycles will go up. Rumor has it that the cameo bike used in captain america's movie is now on display Meanwhile downtown... Recently opened Palace Cinema (opened just in time for The Lego Movie). Though after the Lego Movie blockbuster, ticket sales have been very slow, wonder what's showing currently? No wonder... The flag strip no more :( Pizza shop relocated to a better foot traffic location... by the train station Overview of April 2014 layout: pending sets to be opened:
  9. visiting paris this June, would love to see your city in person castor troy
  10. not until you have the product in hand to say for sure, but it sure seems a better fit in my city than with the apply tree house, log cabin, family house, etc. besides, i don't think lego will abandon the traditional creator houses like mentioned above, as they do with the more smaller creator houses sets like log cabin, mountain hut, etc. i think they are simply expanding the creator houses line into this type of product which i totally agree with.
  11. very nice indeed
  12. is it safe to assume lots of cafe corners selling on ebay without a box or manual but is complete to be brick linked sets? i am still at odds if i will start getting my cafe corner similar to you guys via brick link or just simply buy used sets (but there has to be a box and manual)
  13. great mods, though i like the extra floor (making it a 4 story building) the best out of all. seemed to be the perfect size to fit in my city layout
  14. Nice alt builds
  15. All depends what kind of a lego town you want to put up. I wanted a modular/creator houses/city combined lego town hence i started with the oldest modulars i could find then lots of road plates and then purchased the sea side house and some city house and town square.
  16. Since when did the creator house line (which this set is closest to) became about interiors? I will get the bike and cafe set over any current and past years creator houses thats for sure. Its a fresh idea from tlg, ironically that was actually discussed here in eurobricks, what if tlg released an entry level modular like set. I like it. Excited even for its alternate builds. Any pictures of the alternate builds?
  17. watched the movie last friday, and it was a treat for me and the kids, not so for wifey, hahahah. movie is a mix of stop motion cap from real bricks, cg and real life shots. kids love it because of the slap stick comedy afols will love it for the insider jokes, and "the truth/message" directed to afols and our kids/nephews/nieces. oh yeah, wifey didn't like it, but she got last song syndrome from "everything is awesome" though HAHAHAHA
  18. to each his own, just build the damn thing and show it off here
  19. lots of hypebeasts for this product this is a sure mod for me, i'll get a second set, to double the 2nd floor and make the building 4 story tall. i'll then make the second floor a bar with a live band. 3rd and 4th floors will be a loft type apartment
  20. I'd like to see more of the members city/town layout in one consolidated thread that's stickied. Seem to come across one before, but it's hard to find :( with all the usual threads in the town forum

hehe :) Thanks, was just inspired by others here who have MUCH nicer cities. Wanted the Tennis court to be the center really, as i pretty much played tennis whole my life since i was 8. i agree that the half pipe needs A LOT of work, just added that because i have too many minifigs with skate boards, and had lots of extra orange bricks lying around, hehe. Thanks Thanks

And so my pick a brick orders from the US finally arrived and I actually forgot what i ordered, looked at the breakdown list, and wondered why i actually ordered them, hehe. So here are the updates to my city: First I added a baker's dozen short coconut trees (that's the tallest i could build given my limited brown 1x1 round brick; i had to make other trees for my down town and forest, more on that later) Meanwhile downtown… middle park's tennis court has finally been opened to the public Along with it, the perimeter walls were also done in time for the unveiling of the town's local hero's statue Opposite side of middle park is the old half pipe for skaters and general picnic area Tree planting takes years for trees to grow, so the town mayor shipped in adult trees instead and scattered them throughout middle park All sidewalks, traffic lights and street lights were also finished in record time with the help of Pimentel Bros Builders Inc. On the far side of downtown, a new residential building was constructed in record time, rumor has it that a young billionaire bought the empty lot and built the three story home for a record low $10 The Flag Strip co-tenants are starting to complain about the slow construction of "The Shop" and its apparent design theme irregularity of having no flags in its approved final plan Near side of downtown at the corner near the bus and train stations, construction of a palace cinema is about to start, and some say a parisian restaurant will rise beside it by 2014, but a car dealership will be finished beside the resto before the year ends Over at the suburbeach… The slow life continues… Surfin… Sailin… Swimming… Loungin… horseback riding… camping… The mayor said the city's entourage development cost its minifigures a maxifigure of $350… and he is now being investigated for misappropriation of funds by the city's commander.
  24. Didn't know the flag strip was in discussion here, sort of. Anyway I think there would be potential if lego does produce an entry level, lower cost modular series. I love the modulars mainly for its size, complexity and fine details. And it's the reason I try to reconfigure city sets and modularized them, because they are just cooler. The only negative is price, and by offering a lower entry point, it would be great for us afols and kids alike. I noticed at least here in the Philippines, its only afols that strictly buy modulars, because of its price. Converted, its around 380 us dollars from the offical lego distributor. No parent would buy them for kids strictly for this reason, especially a non afol parent. A lower cost modular might change their minds and might give in. Especially if priced similar to city sets with vehicles, those seem to sell well to kids wanting their parents to buy for them. As there's definitely interest from kids aged 7 to 10 in the current modulars, as my nieces and nephews are drawn to them especially once they get to play with its features and find normal city sets boring compared to them, I'm sure they would prefer a smaller modular to start with and have an easier time building. Overall i think modular is the natural progression for lego sets. Lego vehicles sort of has evoled its design already and to me simple sets can likewise evolve by being modularized. Though i see lego integrating it into current sets rather than producing new series outright in the near future. I think production wise it's feasible as I mainly used what is included in the original sets to modularized them, just added extra bricks I had from the 650 pcs multi colored bricks I have which had no use before. Would not touch on city sets and modulars looking good or not good together, as it basically boils down to preference. But lego will have my money more if they do increase and evolve the modular line.
