  1. Yeah, I was wondering why you guys hadn't killed them precisely with the undead, but then I noticed they're Plant/Demon type, so they can't be damaged by the undead darkness attacks. Kintobor, do you read Tarot cards as a hobby or something, or are you getting this off a website? It seems really good.
  2. Erik bounces off the door again, takes a few steps back to regain his balance, and rushes Forculous again from the front row, raising Voltedge to the vom tag guard position. Just like learning to fight back home. "Sorry, boss."
  3. I liked the quest, but I have to say, while I saw the Endgame Syndrome note at the beginning of the Monolith fight, and knew that meant a second phase, I am confused about the purpose of the separation into two phases. Both phases seemed quite similar, with the only differences being minor increases to some levels and hit points in the second phase, and the somewhat different specials of the hands. It seemed like the only purpose of the first phase was to wear down the heroes in preparation for the second phase, and while that did only take 4 rounds/3 days, I feel you could have made that either simpler or more varied; just described them fighting for a bit and having their health worn down, or having a wave of other enemies, some more of the Regret's failed experiments or something, to fight, with Monolith joining the fight when they were all defeated, or after a set number of rounds. I feel they basically fought the same battle twice, and it would have been nice to have seen more variation between phases.
  4. I'll probably be interested in buying your heavy armour after #93, Flipz. Have you got a price in mind? Erik doesn't actually have any money at all at the moment, but he'll probably have some soon. I'd also be interested to know how much Alexis wants for Magnar's Smaller Axe, though I'm guessing it won't make an already dual-strikingweapon hit four times. Plus I'm already switching artifacts around a lot, so I don't know if I want to buy another one. And Guts can use it, and Erik will never be able to outbid him.
  5. Erik grins as he feels his blade slide through the door as if it wasn't even there. He turns, and his smile fades slightly as he sees Heckz standing behind him, and he realises it was Heckz who dealt the killing blow. "Good work, guys." He turns back to the door, and the remainder of his smile vanishes. "Third time lucky, then? Or shall we try rearranging the parties?" If Heckz tells him to go to a different door, Erik goes there, and attacks Forculus from the Front Row. I'll be away for three days from tomorrow, possibly without internet access, so if I can't get online, Erik follows orders from Heckz.
  6. Bouncing off the door, Erik finds his feet, adjusts his grip on Voltedge, and rushes Forculous' West face again from the front row. (Repeat) He fails to notice Heckz' glare, as he is too concerned with avoiding Syrio's confusing second blade. Also, full-face helmets are notorious for having no peripheral vision.
  7. Well, I did post Erik moving along, just that happened before it was suggested that Erik lend Hugin the Twin Axe. I really should have posted a conditional action for Erik to give out weapons as suggested. But the doors are demonic, so it wouldn't actually do anything this battle anyway.
  8. Ah, of course. Even says it in the class description.
  9. What if the Scholar has both a scroll and an arc-scroll for the same effect? Do they just cast the Arc-scroll, or just the normal scroll, or both, or does the QM flip a coin? Sorry, I'm being pedantic. I like Palathadric's "Dirge of Michael Jackson" idea for Minstrel's reviving song, too - especially if it allows the K/O'ed heroes to receive XP if the battle is won in that round. At least as an unique quest-dropped song that costs less ether, instead of completely replacing Dirge of the Phoenix. Have the hero lose consciousness at the beginning of the next round?
  10. Erik attacks Forculous (West) from the front row with Voltedge. Sorry I didn't say this earlier, but I'm fine with Hugin borrowing the Twin Axe if it's not too late.
  11. "No hard feelings. It's good to have you two with us. We'll have to work out which weapons we should lend you. And what's the Garbage Heap?" Erik says, tactfully not mentioning Carrot's apparent lack of nose, bloody or otherwise. Suddenly a 'Void Eater' crashes through the wall. "Yeah, I think Bohring's right. I don't particularly want to fight... that. Also, I believe we need to split up and attempt to pass through the Demonic Door simultaneously from the Library, Foyer, Entrance Hall and Planetarium. Unless anyone objects, I'll head to the Entrance Hall. Seems as good a place to go as any."
  12. Erik staggers to his feet. "Might be worth taking a rest in the Students Lounge before we go to the Atrium." He mutters, spitting out blood. Does he get healed by Natural Respite/Restore again? "We'll need to split into four groups to get through the Demon doors, as well. Any suggestions for how we should arrange that? A healer in each group might be a good idea."
  13. "Aye, I heard that. But if Noel is staying, surely you can stay as well? It's not just up to me, though, I'm afraid.Erik shakes Hugin, and if that doesn't wake him, smacks him in the face.
  14. Perhaps that could be combined with Swils' idea; Scholar's experience gain is applied to the WP of their book. Said book is otherwise non upgradeable. But what about Nyx' Book of 1000 creatures? Does that become usable by scholars? Would that make it stop being upgradeable? I don't know if I like the idea of them using wands; They aren't wizards, they're scholars. And the lack of an immediately re-usable weapon reflects their role as a debuffer rather than a dps. They have unarmed attacks, too, I presume.
  15. Nah the language students have been sent back. "Him and Carrot are the last two students here who can't fight, are they not? Why don't we just pack 'em in the box and send him off asleep?" Erik turns to the teachers and Noel and Sorsha. "Looks like it's just the madman behind the door, now. No more children to save. Do you want to go back to Eubric or come with us to confront the madman?" "I think Thalion should use Watt's artifact for this upcoming fight. With those dual staves and his magic burst, it will increase his skills the most. Heckz, I believe someone suggested we go through each door at once." Erik helps carry the drunk Hugin.
  16. "So we've got a dean who's a rapist and murderer, students who'd prefer to ride with said rapist and murderer than their own classmates, and other students who kidnap and threaten to murder a teacher? Demons are the least of this school's problems."
  17. Questions / clarifications: Does Fast Learner stack with the Medal of Glory? So sextuple experience from battles? Does Lecture have 2/3 chance of success for each scroll? Also, I imagine the shield roll will burn through ether quite fast if the Scholar has one of each scroll, especially considering that usually once a target is Blinded, Sealed and Fragile any other effects are unneeded. An ether-restoring roll could be useful, as even with Cutcobra's idea, it's pretty useless once you run out of ether. Perhaps something like 1/3 chance to inflict an effect chosen at random from the scrolls in the scholars inventory on successful hits?
  18. Yeah okay. Retconned.
  19. Erik raises his helmet's visor and frowns. "Justice? If there's one thing I've seen, it's that we have to make our own justice. Sure, the man has committed a heinous act, but isn't his wish for death proof of his remorse? Cannot crimes be forgiven? You refuse to allow him to kill himself, because he should face justice? A court of law The Watch will likely chose death as the punishment for a man who pleads guilty to rape and murder. The only difference between execution by a court the Watch and us killing him now is that an execution will be drawn out, and at least here his death would be clean and by his own choosing. By dieing of his own choice, it may provide him partial atonement for his crimes." Sorry this response is a bit late. Might be hard to respond to. I can retcon it to Erik thinking to himself if you guys want. "At least let's bring him along when we confront the ghost, or whatever is causing this." "Does it matter? They aren't a threat to anyone. Let's just get on with saving people." Erik turns to the students following them. "If any of you lot have a problem with these new kids, let us know and we'll send you on now." "I doubt the dean would do anything anyway." Erik whispers to Heckz.
  20. Erik is shocked. I wasn't thinking he'd done something that bad when I said it is all in the past. And he's begging us to kill him. I have no clue what the "correct moral choice" is here. "Well, how about we leave you alive for now, and in a few weeks, if you still feel it's the right course of action, you can kill yourself, or find someone else to kill you. It keeps your blood off my hands, and it gives you time to think about it." "It also means you can probably have a cleaner death than we can provide here. Plenty of fairly painless poisons you could use, for example."
  21. I didn't realise that at first, but I figured it out by the time Erik got the last couple of torches. The problem is that Erik isn't really a thief, but Myrddyn is, so I need to find ways to steal stuff without breaking character. Noticing the Dean has woken up, Erik runs over, somehow managing to forget about his recently acquired trophy. "Look, sir, I'm sure no-one will hold any mistakes against you. It's all in the past now, but the important thing is to make sure the children are all right, and the information you have might be able to help them."
  22. I don't think that snake could have beaten even one of those heroes! Purpearl and Matthias both have ranged attacks (or spells), and they're both Blessed, so damage rolls wouldn't have done anything. One of Alexis' counterstrikes would have won the battle! Nerwen could have killed it with a roll of "miss"! This isn't meant as a complaint, I'm just quite amused by that fight. Sure, you couldn't really have something like that happen too often, but once in a while, I feel it's good to make sure we aren't taking ourselves too seriously.
  23. "Yeah, I think he's just panicking and blaming himself. Perhaps he had to deal with this hillbilly fellow, or his dead daughter, and now the guy's gone mad and decided to kill everyone, the dean wonders if he could have managed things differently to avoid this all happening. But thats all in the past. There's nothing anyone can do about it now, except kill these demons and find the rest of the children, and maybe kill this mad magician.""If you think we should wake him and ask questions, though, be my guest." Erik says. He turns to the rest of the party, but sees them all arguing over a knife, or a wedding, or something. This statue... I wonder if it's important to the dean? I wouldn't want to upset him more than he already is. Erik thinks to himself. Well, it might get lost in the void anyway, if we can't teleport this building back, and it could be destroyed even if we do. I'm sure there was some reason we decided not to risk leaving the children in here while we teleport it back. He glances at the teachers, to see if they are distracted by Heckz' accusation to Karie, and if they are distracted he takes the small gold statue, and hides it with his other items. I can always return it when we get out. "Sorsha, you might want to grab that silver cup. Sometimes unholy creatures are weak to silver, I hear, and you've shown yourself to be good at fighting with improvised weapons."
  24. Yeah, I try and avoid using consumables as well. I'd much rather spend gold on something I can use in multiple battles, rather than just once. Yeah CallMePie said something similar, after #69, about the party doing all the optional stuff, but in my opinion it seems like a waste to just skip all the sidequests.Happy Birthday, Sandy!
  25. Erik doesn't have time to think of anything diplomatic before the dean is put to sleep. "Looks like it all got too much for him. We should just send him back. I doubt he could tell us anything new anyway." He steps carefully over the sleeping provost, and examines the gold statue. "Good at his job, is he?"
