MLCAD Submodel Tutorial
Mister Phes replied to ZCerberus's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thank you so much for taking the time to create this tutorial Mr ZCerebus! *y* And for everyone else if you want to discuss the MOC used in the example then do it in the Imperial Sentry Box thread. This thread should ONLY be used for MLCAD Pirate MOC related questions!!! -
This is looking great Mr ZCerberus! You whipped that up pretty quickly too! I have some paid to work to get done so I won't be able to have an MCLAD session until tonight or maybe tomorrow. But when I have some time I shall have your tutorial open as I work. Thank you so much for doing that!
-
A for the hull, will you be adding slopes to reduce the "chunkiness"?
-
Interestingly enough when spelt "PenanAce" the capital "A" creates significance because "Ace" by itself can mean "number one". But good spot Mr Tiber, because I didn't notice it myself!
-
This is kinda funny, JoJo is mostly known because of his great castle skills, but his only 4 posts are in the pirate forum :-D .JoJo! He's a delightful character! Pity he doesn't post more. You're half correct Mr Tiber, yes the keys were introduced in the Harry Potter theme but they have made appearances in Orient Expedition and Knights Kingdom sets. See Peeron.com inventory on Part 40236a JoJo! He's a delightful character! Pity he doesn't post more. You're partially correct Mr Tiber, yes the keys were introduced in the Harry Potter theme but they have made an appearance in Orient Expedition, Belville and Knights Kingdom. See Peeron.com inventory on Part 40236a

But back in the good old days they didn't do that - or did they? But like I said it was only a rumour that they ran out of ideas, when I asked they told me "We wanted to explore other themes" So Mister Phred, what do you think of this version of Imperial Sentry Box?
-
Ooooooooo! A Bat Lord figurehead!
-
I believe the key originated from the Castle them in the mid 90's - correct me if I'm in error however.
-
Sure thing Mr ZCerberus, such a tutorial could be very useful to first time MCLAD users like myself. So by all means use The Imperial Sentry Box if you think it would help.

Vote for the domain name of the new Pirate LEGO Portal website
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
PirateBricks.com has a huge lead at the moment! However its status is still unresolved because if you visit www.piratebricks.com it says at the top of the page: "Notice: This domain name expired on 02/10/07 and is pending renewal or deletion" So if anybody knows how long until this renewal period expires then let me know because I won't be able to register the domain till after that happens. -
Mr Norro! What are you doing! You're advertising this auction increasing my competition - that's what you're doing! :-D We'll move this thread into the ITP Records root forum after it gets some discussion - if any. If not, it'll be MERGE TIME!!! There are a couple of other threads due for the ITP records root forum which floating around the main forum.

I haven't really set it up in sets. Since this was my first MCLAD outing I thought I'd just keep it simple, but I suppose I could back and put steps in. Thank you for you comments Brickster! Rumour has it that The LEGO Group ran out of ideas for Pirate sets and that's why the theme ended (not sure if I believe that though) so since I can't commit myself to huge MOCs I've taken it upon myself to find ideas and concepts that were never explored. I've used the blue coat flag instead because I couldn't find the Imperial Guard flag, so if anyone knows where that is in MCLAD let me know! Thew! That's a relief! X-D Since I'm using MCLAD now I can easily experiment with this. I'll do a couple of alternate models later on so we can see what looks best
-
Thank you everyone for your encouragement and feedback! I've decided to take some of the comments and suggestions into account to experiment with an improved version of the Imperial Sentry box. So if you'd like to come along for the journey then head over to WIP Imperial Sentry Box - Version 2: The MCLAD Chronicles and we can continue the voyage!

Mr Steam Engineer! Is this the MOC you've been mentioning in other threads? It looks like you've got a nice start happening: Thumbnail is link to bigger picture May I recommend that you resize a few pictures (like the one above) to about 800 x 600 so you can post them in the thread? See the Perform a batch image resize Tutorial if you're unsure how to do this quickly. This isn't compulsory but threads with pictures can attract more attention you see and we want you to get lots of attention!!! If you want it that is.

MOC Black Pearl-lite rev2 with building INSTRUCTIONS!!!
Mister Phes replied to RTN LNA's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thanks for the links Mr LAN! Too bad those discussion threads didn't really take off though since they only offer two options each. The first thread had one user prefer MCLAD and the other LEegoCAD, while the second thread gave 2 votes for MCLAD - not really enough to go by. I thought MCLAD also had a "spinable zoomable 3D view" too, which is why I'd been using to get the right angle on the current MOC I'm building - as pictured in my signature. -
Yes, I thought of this too but to me it didn't make sense to have red in the middle since yellow was already in use. But like you said trying both colours would probably best the way to determine the right colour.
-
I see what you mean Phred... It looks a bit harsh putting grey directly on top of the white, but is red the most appropriate colour? Wouldn't a row yellow be more appropriate since red is the colour of the bricks underneath? Obviously the the yellow that's there would need to be replace by white first, otherwise the yellow row would look a bit messy.
