You've been quite busy Mr SkaForHire, these WIPs are looking quite interesting! So what's next for them? How shall you progressed them further?
-
So the blue Calvary mini-figure is your Wellington?

There's a type of curved piece which I can't seem to find on Peeron since I don't know what its called, but I have some somewhere. Its like this shape: Only its 2 x 2 in size. Does anybody know what I'm referring to? Anyway, the point is it may produce a smoother "curve" between the columns of yellow cylinders.

Yes, that is a very good point Mr ImperialScouts. Didn't even last a decade, 1989 to 1997 so that's only 8 years really. But Castle has been carried along by Knights Kingdom to maintain interest and attention levels, whereas Pirates has had 4+ and Duplo which could possibly have done the opposite. Edit B.: Post contained the same text twice. Redundant part removed

As large as mine? Does that stand for The Brothers Brick? That seems to be a popular suggestion so it w'll be the first taken into account.

It wouldn't contrast enough against the parchment I assume, but it takes too much time to make a seamlessly tiling background texture so if I can't adjust the rocks I'll just remove them entirely. I'll experiment on the weekend.

Ben Ellermann didn't contact me. Norrington contacted him in regards to the Vignette Contest he's hosting to ask permission if he could advertise it on Classic Castle. So what I quoted was an Email he sent to Norrington, which Norrington posted in another thread. The feedback he provided isn't confidential because he's previously posted most of it in other threads at Eurobricks and Classic Castle.

One of the disadvantages of having a nice 1680 x 1050 resolution is the website looks to be a quite reasonable size and the issues mentioned aren't as noticeable. The rock background will definitely be looked into but not necessarily removed and I think the navigation should be smaller. As for the costs... At the moment the bandwidth is negligible and if we can get free hosting even better, I just don't want to be out of pocket every 1 or 2 years renewing the domain. Participating in Google's sponsoring programs also improves our ranking for less specific search requests For example "classic pirates" and "pirate lego forum" yields classic-pirates.com within the first 5 results, however "pirate lego" doesn't even give us a mention. And yes, there's always room for improvement with EVERY website...

Ben Ellermann a Classic Castle Administrator was kind enough to leave us some feedback. I'm wondering what you think on his thoughts on the rock background and menu system taking up too much space? These things can be finetuned if they detract too much from the content.

But why would we want to? When this thread was created it was intended to last through the ages, it was more to get an opinion around the time it was created. Like I mentioned before, if you seriously want a non biased opinion then create a new thread in niether the Pirate or History & Adventure forums. This thread has already had too much "bias" exposure and you'd really need to start afresh to get accurate results.

Thank ye lads for educating me on Miniland, now let us return to Athos's Miniland MOC for more fun and excitement!

"Dead Men Tell No Tales" Vignette Contest - Discussion
Mister Phes replied to Norrington's topic in Pirate MOCs
Who is "us" Eurobricks or Classic-Pirates.com? Ok, we discuss the competition and vignettes in this thread and submit them in the "Dead Men Tell No Tales" Vignette Contest - Entries thread. That's not too confusing is it? -

Mr Norrington, let me know if you want me to move these latest posts to the Content Discussion Thread so as it keep this thread clean for entries. -
"Dead Men Tell No Tales" Vignette Contest - Discussion
Mister Phes replied to Norrington's topic in Pirate MOCs
This is your competition Mr Norrington so its upto you to advertise. And are you going to offer a prize? But what did you tell Mr Ellermann to make him think you had anything to do with the administration? It seems odd he give that kind of feedback to the average user. -
Hmmmm... That's interesting... I'm using a 500W light, I thought it would be too bright but it appears its not. 26W on the other hand - how much light does that emit? As you can see I know very little about electronics.
-
You go right ahead Athos and see how much Count Sneffy like its :-D
-
I was not aware of this... Do all LEGOLands have a Miniland or just one of them?
-
I do not doubt the pole is skewed towards Pirates, hence why I suggested creating it in the History and Adventure. But everyone who voted in this poll could vote in the propose poll, so a major influencing factor would be how many of the voters here get to the History and Adventure forum. I suppose the only way to avoid bias voting is to create the poll in neither the Pirate or History & Adventure Forum.
-
Unfortunately there are no LEGOlands in my hemisphere...
-
What is this miniland anyway?
-
Create the same poll in the History & Adventure Forum and see if Castle performs better... It would make for an interesting experiment, but I believe Castle would kick butt.
-
I'm not aware of a BrickLink store that would be classified as "piratical", but if you could specify the pieces you're after then no doubt someone here could point you in the right direciton.
-
Do you happen to know what the wattage on the lamps are?
-
Of course Athos is OK, in fact he's just come right as indicated by the creation of this Pirate MOC X-D
