Yes, I agree the box does add value. The box contains artwork not available anywhere else and like you mentioned it does provide a convenient storage space should you not have the room to build the set. I suppose it depends how much extra money the box costs and what condition its in.

And that is indeed better! The original tower looked like something gawky that The LEGO Group would incorporate into one of their modern sets. Your rebuild is more attractive and robust, but how does the little fella get to the top of the tower? :-D

Now I shall comment more seriously upon this wonderful MOC. I do indeed really like it because its simple but not too simple, and does indeed look something my imagination would expect to stumble upon in Mexico. The only way I (with my limited MOCing experience) could suggest to improve it would be to use custom mini-figures rather than using Imperial Guards.

But by all means post pictures of your custom torsos in the Pirate MOC Forum since we're building quite a nice collection there.

Yeah its good to have a nice balanced variety of Pirate MOCs. We don't want all ships or all forts, a nice assortment is exactly what we want. I think I like the HMS Charlie better than the Dame du Loup - the colour scheme works much better as I think the constrast between the black and white of the Dame du Loup is too severe. For some reason I always seem to be the first to ask about the sails - or am I the only one who worries about things like that. In this case, are you going to add sails or are these paper sails the final version?

You lads write such nice comments but to be quite honest I don't think I've been very creative in terms of LEGO designs this year. For this MOC all I've done is ripped off a Castle MOC by removing the Castle elements and added the Pirate equvialents. Yeah, that's one of the major deviations I took from the Castle set. I thought it would really set it off rather than using a yellow plate.

Yeah, if Mr Fordo only wants to plan a war game this thread definitely belongs there, however if he wants to share custom torsos then it can stay and he can create a new thread in the Wargames Forum to plan his wargame.

I'm just wondering if I struck a the right balance between pirate and wizard. I tried various combinations of heads and legs to get the optimum apperance, but unless I said he was a Pirate would anyone realise it was supposed to be one? Surely there's been at least one wizard with peg leg in past X-D

Yes definitely! For a long time I didn't have a digital camera, but then I bought a camcorder which had a still image feature but the quality wasn't very good. I used that for a while and was really disappointed with the results I was getting, so I thought "Right I'm going to get a decent camera and I won't do it by halves!" So I went and bought a digital SLR camera and now I'm pleased with the quality. Now all I need is better lighting!

It was your inspiration that gave me the idea Mr Brickster! Without it there would be less pirate wizards in this world.

I don't see the point in merging the threads either. The video displays different MOCs to the Brickshelf folders in the other thread so merging the two would bury the video way down the first thread. That wouldn't make it very accessible.

I can't really add more to it because then it would depart from the original concept of being the Pirate equivalent of 6020. Besides, he can easily cast a spell and shrink himself small enough for the parrot carry him :-D
