  1. Adequate have some interesting reviews. I wonder why Joseph Gonzalez put so much effort into writing those stories. Who was the audience for LEGO back in 1996? Were the reviews published elsewhere?
  2. It might eliminate potential confusion in the future. We'll see how it goes...
  3. Greetings Oh Mighty MOC builder! *knight*
  4. When I refer to "animation" I mean any form of animation. So that could be stop motion animation which most BrickFilms are, or it could be 3D animation like Man O War and the clips from the LEGO Chess games. Then there's 2D animations like Flash or traditional cartooning. I'm not sure if you've seen the Adventures of Johnny Thunder on LEGO.com but you'd really have to push the definition of "BrickFilm" to classify those animations as one. Anyway, it doesn't really matter. It takes 10 seconds to change a thread title so we'll deal with it should an instance like that arise.
  5. I see your point. I suppose it comes down to how the majority interprets it. If everyone shares your view then there's no need to change, but problem is what happens if a Pirate LEGO animation comes along that is not a BrickFilm? How will your index deal with this?
  6. Many thanks to ye Mr Imperial Scouts for taking the time to do this! I'm wondering about the thread title... Should it be "Pirate LEGO Animations" since there's some CGI animationed Pirate films too? BrickFilms are but one type of animation, so with a little adjusting the title could easily accomodate every type.
  7. Would you like a description added to your thread to further clarify this? I'll admit when I first saw the thread title my reaction was similiar to that of Phred's, but upon reading the first post I learnt otherwise. Anyway, it will be interesting to see your customs!
  8. Top job old chap! I've left you some comments in your Index threads. As for this thread I've beefed up the first post a bit. As for the animation - I haven't got around to watching it in its entirity yet but I'm doing if offers anything new or is it all just taken from the LEGO Chess game?
  9. By the way... You can post BBCode without it being parsed by using the Wrap in Code button [img=http://mywebsite/pictures/picture1.jpg] I've added a picture to the first post and an renamed this thread to reflect its content. As we have already have other clone/imitation brand threads lets make this one focus on Cobi Pirate products to differentiate it from the rest.
  10. Yes, I see your point. Kinda like modern cars can benefit from having electric engines as well as combustion engines.
  11. A Triton is species of mollusk. Triton, however, is a Greek God, who was the son of Poseidon (god of the sea) and Amphitrite (goddess of the sea).
  12. A YouTube user named Gerth6000 has brought to my attention a second video of this display. This one is stationary and appears to be using a tripod. View it here
  13. Is that object between the oar and the Islander in the Johnny thunder hat a magnifying glass?
  14. Yes, you guide the lad Bonaparte. I do not doubt the two of you can create something magnificent! As soon as I get a few spare moments I'm gonna watch the movie posted at the top of this thread...
  15. Ah well... He'll learn his lesson the hard way... We should start taking punts at what age he'll return to us... But lets get back to Mr Bender's MOC for the time being. I have a question for Mr Bender: I realise you have piece limitations, but if you didn't would you consider adding a Triton to figurehead to the ship? I think such an addition why tie-in with the ship's name, although some may tell me its too literal.
  16. Ahhhhh that team work in action! What a marvellous crew we have! Now back to the animation in question... We probably should have a screen shot in the first post.
  17. I'm not sure why the seller substituted the rarer Pirate mini-figures with the more generic ones because he certainly wasn't selling them in other auctions. Perhaps he was also a collector so he was building his rarer pirate mini-figure collection whilst getting rid of his generic pirate mini-figures. But I agree it would be easier to leave the sets as they were, however there are plenty of people who do seemingly illogical things. It might not even be the result of the seller because occassionally you'll find a naive seller who doesn't know what they're dealing with. So it could be the fault of the supplier. Without more information we may never know.
  18. Its probably about time we started indexing these movies for easy access...
  19. Could you take pictures of set so we can see what it looks like up close?
  20. The only reason they would replace the flags would be replacements is because someone had went through the entire set, took the pieces they wanted (not just the flags) and substitued them with generic or custom eqivalent. Otherwise it would be too much rigmarole to take just the flags. I have purchased from an eBay seller who always subsituted the flags and rarer mini-figures with generic eqivalent. For example, if the set came with Spanish pirates he'd always replace them with the older pirates, or if there was an Admiral mini-figure he'd substitue the head with the original moustached pirate head and torso a read coat commander. But he never tried to pass the sets off as MISB.
  21. Forget that question... Does it need sails if it has a wheel?
  22. Thank our beloved Evil Willy for creating it... Before the dark times...
  23. Mr Legeaux, could you tell us more about this widehwheeler? Exactly what does it do?
  24. Greetings Cyryl! You're the second new user showing a ship MOC today! Indeed. There are some similiarties but the Merchant Ship from the Imperial Trading Post (aka as The Cutter) was a bit larger.
  25. Greetings Mister Bender! This is a very fine effort forst your first MOC ship. Have you done much MOCing of other types to gain the necessary skills to enable you to build such a magnificent ship?
