POTC 3 - From a Pirate LEGO Fanatics Perspective
Mister Phes replied to hans-thegreat's topic in LEGO Pirates
There has been Pirates of the Caribbean MOCs in the past but they're scattered throughout the Pirate MOC Forum. Maybe its time for a Pirates of the Caribbean MOC Index X-D -
Indeed Powerpoint can be used for that. Although programs like Illustrator and Fireworks do it much better and with many more options - probably because they're designed for that very purpose, especially Illustrator. On the otherhand they're more complicated and take longer to learn.

I agree with Michael Bay when he says the Transformer cartoon designs wouldn't work in a live action movie, but I don't agree with the way he and his and team have updated them. They've went so far the new designs look ridiculous. There must be a way to retain more of the Transformers original appearance yet make them work in a physical environment. Perhaps a good starting point would have been 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime - greatly improved posability and less "blockiness" in robot mode. Now taking some liberties granted by film surely a competent designer could further develop this appearance to work in a live action movie... Bleh... Its not because Mr Bay couldn't do it, its because he's not a true Transformers fan and didn't want to. X-D

No way! The Islanders would capture the MS Mermaid and roast its crew!

POTC 3 - From a Pirate LEGO Fanatics Perspective

I know what we can do to make the threads different... You mean there's too much fantasy for your liking or you think the visual effects look unconvincing? -
MINI-FIGURE REVIEW: Pirate with Blue Striped Torso #3
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
I notice there is a lot of discussion revolving around this head: Let us not forget this is just ONE mini-figure in the Pirate theme that uses the moustached face head and there will eventually be reviews for all mini-figures that make use of it. The aim is to build a complete database on Classic-Pirates.com for each mini-figure which appeared in the Pirate theme, and each entry will have its own discussion thread. -

If this thread isn't LEGO related we better move it to the Culture & Multimedia thread so non Pirate fans can find it more easily. -
We'll probably have to find focus for them Mr Oo7. Island Boy, I notice you haven't replied to Miss Aredhel's Islanders' village... Thread or the Islander fortress thread. Now, if I were a hardcore Islander fan the first thing I'd do is scour through the images linked to those threads and discuss the MOCs with their creators. So rather than asking who supports Islanders for the umpteenth time, you should go looking for those who obviously do.

Do you have this set Island Boy? And what's happened to KAHUKA?
-
So does that mean he could get something from $0-$9 X-D

Miss Aredhel has designed a figurehead using the figure from 4762 - Rescue from the Merpeople so head over to her MS Mermaid thread and check it out!

That's quite a tall ship for its length, I wonder what Mr ZCerebus would have to say about that X-D It was just the other day I was suggesting to Fender Bender that he should have a merman figurehead for his Triton's Vengeance MOC Ship and now we have an example to show him. Awesome! *y*

PowerPoint? Now that's interesting. I've never thought of using that for creating images and it seems to be doing the job nicely.

What program are you designing them in? MS Paint?

Why is this called "Project 1024"? Are there 1023 projects which come before it?

Knockoff/Clone/Imitation Brand Pirate Sets
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Now I get you. I thought you meant people were getting Pirate sets from YouTube. I've noticed with YouTube many users upload copyrighted video like trailers and music videos and get away with it. The infringing media is only removed if YouTube is ordered to do so otherwise its left for me to come and download with my special program X-D -

YouTube? That's a movie sharing community - you must mean another website. -

Yes, I see your point Count Sneffy... Is it illegal to own a counterfeit set? -
And some dust being kicked up behind the wheels... And make it look as though the plant next to the horse (closest to us) is in front of its front-right leg... X-D

I think Mr Norrington meant to post this one

Since you're a seasoned ship builder what would you recommend Mr Tordenskjold do to make the white "work"?
-
This fellow is a very interesting custom... He'd go nicely in Jamtf's Show us your crew! thread.

I think I managed to get one for for around US$15 but it missing the sails, mini-figures and some pieces were subsituted. Fortunately I had all the necessary pieces in the spare parts collection to make it complete. Do I smell a Renegade Runner Pictorial Review coming on? X-D
