Since Mr Great reckons COBI is of a comparable quality perhaps it might be worthwhile sourcing a set cheaply and seeing how well the pieces you mentioned work with LEGO.

Ahhhh this piece! I've always contemplated using this piece in an Islander MOC but haven't managed to acquire any.

:'-( I was looking at the reviews of the new Dock sub-theme (or whatever its officially called) and the thing that disturbed me a bit was the generous number of large pieces. I think the same could be said about that new grey castle, it seems it has a lot of castle walls yet its general aesthetic looks closer to that of Classic Castle. Yeah, I noticed the Viking ship and Heavy Artillery Wagin had cannons that shot what looked like those Nurf arrows (or whatever they're officially called). That would not look very good on a Pirate ship.

Are you sure a new Pirate theme would be anything like Knights Kingdom II? The new 2007 Castle theme seems to be moving away from the outlandish Knights Kingdom designs. Still, the new castle sets are by no means "Classic Castle" but their designs seem to have more thought than the Knights Kingdom sets.

What a marvellous idea for a theme, but I'm not really one for the brick built creatures which made me steer away from the Viking theme.

Sense of humour or just a severe lack of pieces? Do we know this Hob Took. Is that dynamite near the treasure chest or bircks & mortar or what?

Which occassional "bit" would you salavage Imperialshadows? I'm wondering just how compatible COBI is with LEGO because some of these immatation brands who claim compatability don't always live up to their claim.

Its kind of like an age old question for LEGO - its one of those topics that will always arise in discussion, but its interesting to read the new perspectives of some of our more recent users. You've elaborated upon my earlier post quite nicely Count Sneffy, but I think I'll go as far to say as no Pirate LEGO ship (or Pirate set for that matter) looks realistic, rather some have a stronger semblance to reality than others.

Me either till I discovered by accident a couple of months ago. What do you mean you've "completely redone it to look more like a ship"? Isn't it suppose to look like a ship already? What did you "redo" to achieve this better ship appearance?

Not to get too philosophical but I suppose it depends on your perception of what reality is. I can't really envision a LEGO mini-figure being "realistic" because LEGO has its own distinct style of apperance which is far removed from reality. How would you get a crutch to work on a min-figure though?

Yeah, I wasn't quite clear what was going on with your idea Mr Bonaparte, but I'm not clear on much these days because I'm very absorbed by my university projects. So, we'll turn the attention to Imperial Scouts and get his opinion on the matter.
