Brethren of the Brick Seas Banner by Kai NRG
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Just 1920 x 200, please. 1920 pixels is the standard width for 1080 HD displays at present. I don't think enough people are currently using higher resolutions to warrant larger dimensions. As for the mobile users... Providing the heading text is accommodated within the view port, they'll have to relinquish the minifigures and artwork. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas Banner by Kai NRG
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That is correct. Just so long as the title is fully visible, the surrounding artifice is an acceptable loss. When using a mobile browser you have to accept you're viewing a simplified version of the design due to the smaller view port and if you want the full experience, then you have to use a desktop web browser. And that's applicable to all mobile web designs. -
There has been a long history of AFOL sites leaking unreleased set images and Eurobricks was notorious for this back in the mid 2000's. The LEGO Group made practice of uploading high resolution images to their caching site so AFOLs would guess the file names of unreleased sets. Then staff would post the images on the Eurobricks frontpage which helped to rapidly grow the forum but the LEGO Group became quite agitated and issued warnings. However, the words "corporate espionage" were never used - "Intellectual property infringement" at best. Actually, maybe I shouldn't laugh, you may have a legal background and be more informed than I.

Thanks! This is just the beginning of a long overdue overhaul for the Pirate Forums. -

Oops! I meant to write "WE love your MOCs!" I am experiencing lack of sleep at this time...

You love your MOCs!

Do you happen to know which parts and re-release sets this occurred? Or is that question way too specific?
-
Has this been done in previous re-released sets?
-
I questioned it myself... I probably should find the posts where it was discussed but I don't have the time to find then. Roebuck however, provided some reasions a few posts back: And also expanding on point 2: The parts required may no longer be in production. I.e. they may not even have the moulds to produce certain older parts.

The LEGO representatives have said (within the past couple of years) sets from that vintage will not be re-released in the foreseeable future. Actually, I think they said never again due to the poor sales of the early 2000's re-releases - but I'm just going by re-released information from users of this forum who have spoke personally with the representatives. I'm not one of those Pirates fans. If I see one more damn Black Seas Barracuda inspired ship with the red and white sales... I'm gonna... At least change the colour of the sales for the next one!
-
Re-released sets don't affect the cycle anyway... but apparently the last time the Black Seas Barracuda was re-released (2002) it sold poorly (along with the other re-released sets from the 80's and 90's) so the LEGO Group no longer deems it profitable to re-release sets from that area again.
-
Yeah, they do (or did circa 2015) have a business plan for LEGO Pirates in which they were aiming to release a new wave of pirate sets every 5-7 years. Given LEGO Pirates core demographic is 5-12 year old males, every 7 years there will is a new cycle of 5-12 year old males, so they can get away with releasing the same set concepts each cycle. But we can only hope they decided to break free of this formula for the next wave... lest we get another Blacks Seas Barracuda clone with the striped red sales, an island featuring a skull face and a couple more soldier forts...

Greetings! I've been informed @Kai NRG has created a custom banner (below) for the Brethren of the Brick Seas Forums - is this correct? I'm in the process of applying the banner to the forum but there are a couple of things preventing that from happening. The first is the banner does not have the correct image dimensions for the forum header. So I was wondering if we could create the banner in different sizes?

[MOC] Treasure Chest by Slawek Kaczorowski
Mister Phes replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
Nah, I'll just remain ignorant and ask if required. But thank you for sharing the glossary. -
I do have a less pixelised photo of the set... I just posted the current photo in case it is the actual set - the LEGO Group doesn't appreciate fansites posting high quality images of upcoming sets which haven't don't have official publicity photos . The alternate builds are usually displayed on the box too. So unless this is a draft like you say, whoever faked the box art forgot to incorporate the other two builds. Well, the point of this topic is so people don't have to dig through 25 pages to get to the relevant information. But thank you for pointing out your helpful post in the speculation topic.

Buying Pirate LEGO - where to buy, advice, tips and questions
Mister Phes replied to Mr. Smee's topic in LEGO Pirates
You've come to the right place, although it's highly recommended to post photos in topics because (where applicable) because you're more likely to get noticed. So is this lot worth 200€? First compare the prices on Bricklink. Their price guide values one used Black Seas Barracuda at US $303.51 or 276.36€.- 502 replies

Most excellent! Welcome aboard @CaptainMoore!

There has been some discussion about this in the Future Pirates Speculation Topic. But is this alleged leaked image real or fake? From the Future Pirates Speculation topic: Please note all information in this topic is considered speculative and nothing is official or fact until the LEGO Group announce it.
