  1. The forestman/majesto/peasant torso is by far my favorite torso. I would love to see a new version in red, tan, and white along with more of the classic colors. Plain torsos are probably the most universal in use though.
  2. Most stuff is overpriced. The price guide has been getting higher and higher averages since the admin removed the all time averages from the listing. More and more people are selling and the greediest of them are hiking the guide up and up. It doesn't help either that there are now super stores with millions in inventory that are basically forcing prices on almost everything. Even the biggest used parts stores tend to monopolize a bit keeping prices high. Your best options are to find smaller stores with prices you like and just buy the parts you need for projects and not all the stuff you want. Your collection will expand slower but you won't have to spend as much money. Also, be on the lookout for parts you want within 6-12 months after it is released. If you look to buy the newer parts right away they are sure to be overpriced, if you wait too long on desirable part they will only go up in price usually after the series has ended. I have found many deals on parts in the 6-12 timeframe though, some you might call rediculous. If you want to sell then just price how you want to. In my store, most prices are average but that is actually only to limit the orders I get while I am in school. If I priced things in the range of where I would buy them then I could not keep up with the orders. Many sellers, especially in the AU, are at a disadvantage because of the pricing difference of retail LEGO. You might want to consider Ebay or second hand options.
  3. Algernon, I think that Kmart or Target will carry what you are looking for. I personally find that the Akro Mills containers have a slight flex to the plastic and as such do not easily break, I have broken/cracked some of the stack-on variety. Both are nice though. Clear fishing tackle/bead/sewing boxes work really well too and can be found at any department store with the fishing tackle version over in sporting goods usually the cheapest. Those are great for smaller pieces. For common parts such as bricks, plates, and slopes I recommend buckets or the larger slide drawers. The absolute cheapest way to sort is to use bulk plastic bags which can be purchased for as little as 0.01 per piece and free cardboard boxes for anyone who will give them to you. mania3, you should consider opening a Bricklink store and selling. Minifigures are easy to sell, and unless you want them generally, that would be a great way to earn some extra money for more of the LEGO you do want. Most sellers do not have inventory so neatly sorted; as such, you are ready to begin selling if you so desire. It would also put you back in control over what parts you want and how to store them.
  4. What types of parts are you specifically looking for? I have quite a bit of orange and lime parts I am looking to sell or trade off. What else do you have to trade? I am looking mostly for 80's castle and space, chains, zamor spheres, space helmets/visor/airtanks, frogs, roof slopes, and other items but I wondered what other things you might have available for trading.
  5. MegaBloks is wastes any product tie ins it gets. Disney, Spiderman, you name it, total garbage. Disney has worked with LEGO in the past, and I assume they are giving it another go. Those Mickey sets weren't so great but if they are able to work with minfigure scale I think it could do well. Plus, Toy Story and Cars are perhaps the single best content areas to reach children, as they are always in demand and I have heard parents and children asking for both products long after the movies and intitial toy products are gone. PoP has me the most excited though. It sounds great in everyway. I just hope it is done well and not like Harry Potter in the later years or like Avatar; those themes wer poorly done and condemned themselves to fail.
  6. LEGO wants to design sets where living beings are blasted and then shoved in blue tubes, you didn't expect the to be standard minis did you? In fact, I hope LEGO continues creating odd shaped heads and figures for children to hack, slice, and blast before they are shoved in some sort of cage. As it is, all they odd figures are going to be difficult to amass.
  7. Meh, those figures were crap too in my opinion. Futuron, Blacktron, and Space police are the real classic space.
  8. $4 per figure plus tax, thats not nostalgia, thats extortion on childhood memories. This would be perfect at $10 per set. Battle packs have 4 minimum figures plus parts and weapons. I just don't understand. Nice set overall, but like many I don't get the double space figures escpecially considering they are in the same series with only a different color. Five of these or a medieval market place, hmm? Real tough choice
  9. I am a little sad I will have to wait for these but perhaps not too long. Check this quote from the article. That must mean every part for the games will be available on PaB online! That is something to excited about if it is true.
  10. Agreed. If it is half as cool as they make it sound I will get it. It almost sounds like an RTS or RTS/Action hybrid. Either way that is something I can support.
  11. I have been asking for something like this for a long time now. I don't care if it was fan interaction/response or something LEGO designer have been trying to get going for years, this is the only LEGO series I feel I must have. Board games and LEGO together in a wonderfully designed effort, amazing.
  12. And not to let it be a can of worm but to clarify, I have sorted through eight different LEGO collections I have purchased ranging from 10-60 lbs each. It never fails that if there are MB's present I will find a pile of them that are broken. The plastics are cheaper and more brittle and as a result very sharp when broken. The quality of MB is not just a joke but a reality. Adult collectors who properly maintain there pieces will not likely have trouble but younger children who are known to smash and destroy things are in danger of getting hurt much more readily on MB than LEGO products. Not saying those do not break either but it is tougher to do and the majority of parts broken do not end up mini shivs. Not all parts are this way though, mostly the bricks and even then only the bigger ones.
  13. Small and sleek. Perfect for missions you described. Improvements might include landing gear, fuel tanks for extended missions, and a functioning cockpit that opens without having to detach the windscreen. I would also switch out gray parts for something more colorful or flashy, yellow, chrome, dark turquoise, orange, or even white. Old school stuff is very interesting for me also, so I would recommend playing around with having more studs exposed and adding trans parts for lights, weapons, or decoration. MOC on!
  14. It really only matters if you don't like them or will sell your LEGO at some point. Most people buying LEGO don't want them mixed in. If you don't like them toss them. MB on the other hand are actually a safety hazard. The break easily and are very sharp when broken. If you don't want them box and sell them at a rummage sale or give them to a neighbor/relative in the right age range to put them to good use. Don't burn them though, they are toxic when melted, better just to toss them.
  15. I dislike most of the soft/flexible parts LEGO has made. Not just the sort of flexible stuff, because even 2x2 bricks can be flexed but the truly flexible usually dull looking parts with slight variations in color. Which means nearly half of Bionicle is included in this, along with exo force hair, foam missles, and such like. Exceptions are most rubber wheels, string, space tubing, minfigure heads (hard plastic would be better but if it means not having new heads I will gladly accept the rubbery kind), and the techinc tubing. The worst part or parts are actually the soccer and other sports parts that have limited connectivity and almost no use outside of the original one. Worthless crap.
  16. LEGO minifigures suffer from big head syndrome. In fact, their proportioned well for something closer to a midget or dwarf. As such measurments in LEGO are rarely very accurate in replica models. This is one of the reasons LEGO uses miniland scale at the theme parks. If you want a general number I alway go by fig foot width/length = one foot. In the end, it is still just a toy you can use how you want. As long as you think it looks good and you give your MOCs some effort you can enjoy your builds without any problems. In fact, many truly great MOCs involve exageratted sizes or caricatures of actual real life stuff. It is the same principle people use cartoons or anime to great effect. It can give your building style and uniqueness.
  17. Partial release would not have been cool at all. At best I could call it a brainless decision.
  18. 7 out of 10 orders in my store are from the USA. It is an interesting article for sure but I recommend everyone think about the time and effort involved. It is not just a few minutes and like the post says this works best with minifigures. Parts work as well but require even more time and effort. If you have SW figures you don't want though, sell them by all means.
  19. I wish it was more clear what each of the aliens look like. I have to say that squidman is fabulous. I am dissappointed in the Futuron color scheme for the police. I was so hoping for something closer to the original color sheme. Sadly, it seems that blue has been left out and replaced with bley and they added trans green for weapons. The large ship seems promising but the other sets lack for me. All the technic parts poking out just ruin the designs for me and the alien ships clearly have a color theme, one I don't like much. I am looking forward to seeing new pictures of it all and picking up a set or two before I make my final judgement but My early sentiments seem confirmed. Oh well. Anyone out there want to trade me your old space police one figures?
  20. Historically accurate vikings could include only three things: -fishing -farming/village -war/slaughter The only one that fits the current trend of battle is the last one and I think it fits quite nicely. The theme overall was excellent and if I could change anything it would have been to include the spiffy beards from the prototype pictures and to work more of the mythology into the series instead fo just battling monster sets.
  21. Revalation! Squidmen aliens have only one eye. Next in the news, phosphorecent Elvis heads invade Legoville demanding the release of the unproduced 1x3 tile part.
  22. That was great. I am not even a fan of Classic space all that much but this is what it was all about. Love it!
  23. There is a line, and everybody has a different location for that line. Build what seems right to you and if you don't like what others build simply don't comment on them. Attention to a MOC whether good or bad is still attention. Leave it alone and chances are it will be less likely for you to see similar things in the future.
  24. This is a very pretty build. The red stands out nicely, your foliage is wonderful, and you have used some very interesting techniques to get the often difficult shapes in Japanese architecture. This is one of those builds that solidify LEGO as more than a childs toy. This is art.
  25. Seriously? Even Danth has a right to his opinion, negative or not. Don't treat people like that. Maybe you misunderstand the terms yourself. Space Police are indeed policing, but the problem is they are not in friggin space! Hover cars, robo dogs, partially enclosed helmets, and flaming alien scooters are not in space. Futuristic maybe but certainly not space. On a world other than earth but not in space or even on some moon with no atmosphere. I think I am the only one to express much dislike for the direction of this theme within the last four pages so your comments, if not directly, must certainly fall to me. I love the idea of space police, not space wars, star wars, moon wars, or anything else. Perhaps someday that theme will come out and be sweet. Sadly, the new space police is only a futuristic version of town with aliens instead of crooks in prison jumpers. Maybe, just maybe there will be an actual ship or moonbase outpost or something actually spacey in the line, but for now it is just police. Hopefully that removes your confusion. I expect actual space police not fifth element, judge dread, or starwars inspired crap void of actual space. I am glad so many people enjoy and are excited for this theme though. I am sure many people want fifth element, judge dread, or starwars inspired crap void of actual space. If this does well LEGO will keep going with a space revival and it will only be a matter of time before we do get a Futuron or Blacktron series set in outer space.
