Not the clearest picture but yes I had to use panels to get the arm room needed. The overall size of the ship is about 8x20x6. Which I consider small. The pilot must sit at an angle but not laying down and doesn't allow roow for any neckgear at all. Standard helmets fit and I think the alien bubble helmets do as well. Another option is to use cutout plates and have the canopy only connect at the tip. It would not require much extra if any size increase.

Robotics are cool and school is important. We will hear from you in the summer I am sure.

Hey, happy birthday. 40 is a great number may you have a better 40 to come even.

TRU is in trouble. They think that raising prices they can save themselves when infact they are putting the last of the nails in their own coffin. Hopefully they will get a clue but most likely not. LEGO is not in all that much trouble. They are not as successful as they would like obviously but measures have been taken and things are being done properly for the most part. Insufficient production and good sales caused shortages mostly. LEGO is also not sitting on stock as they once did which in many respects is good. 2006 should prove to be an even better year and I think it will be Exo Force that dominates. Showing to everyone that LEGO can design a new theme and it can do well. I just hope it brings in enough money to push them into making some other new sets. I would really like to see a Swiss Family Robinson type series with a pirate mix. Sort of a stranded boat crew on an island that is home to a hidden pirate treasure and/or a group of canibal natives. They live in a tree house eating coconuts and fish. Everything seems fine until a pirate ship shows up on the horizon. Will a ship come to rescue them from the island? Will they pirates see them and come ashore on unfriendly terms? Will those mysterious drums in the night spell their doom? Can they find the pirates treasure and escape it all before the end? It's your imagination, you decide! ;-) I can dream right? :'-) By the way any LEGO designer or employee can feel free to use my ideas in part or whole and claim full rights to them. You have my expressed consent to take my ideas.

Brilliant pics I might add. Nothing sold LEGO to me like those little catalogs. Just seeing some of the possibility to those sets made me long for more LEGO. The new viking sets have a similar effect on me except that they are only found at TRU and sadly mine closed so it is a 2.5 hour drive to the nearest one and that instantly adds $25 to the cost of the sets. I could go with onlnie but then shipping and well it just isn't the same. Though if LEGO has free shipping this year I will probably get the new viking sets and at least the current catapult. Back on topic (though really off topic) I too hope longingly for a new LEGO space theme. Something more classic but with all the great parts and extras LEGO has made in the past eight years. I hope that the uniforms are in dark teal. *sweet*

Best of luck then. ;-) You may want to actually take pictures of the groups you have created. It won't be very interesting without them.

Lugnet is not dead or falling apart yet. If the current admin will release the site like Jake suggested I think it can have a good period of revival. Perhaps even growing as it should have been for the last five years. It has features that are very valuable and with some help it could become the great LEGO hub many have sought after. On the other hand if it is not released it will indeed die and become a ghost site. Either way Eurobricks is still the best LEGO forum around. Jipay and crew keep a tight ship and are not afraid to make the deserving walk the plank. *skull* We love you Eurobricks! *wub*

I too think this isn't the right time for such an endevour. Give it until this summer and I will gladly join you in this Vaki and help with some graphics and pictures. Threads like this can be a lot of fun but often pigeon hole the participants into doing things in unfun ways. Take our advice. -GAME OVER-

Wonderful indeed. I think it is great and I will use it very soon! Thank you Mister Phes! I like the sailor symbol and I am not sure of the ranks involved so I think I will just leave it at that for a while. Feel free to promote me whenever though.

I really like the inset of the yellow bricks. That is one of my favorite building techniques and you did it excellently. The banner adds quit a bit and your sultan has just enough personality to his face to really sell the whole idea. MOC on!

Simplicity in design and parts. Life was simple the brick was simple. Every part was useful and mocs relied on creativity not specialty pieces. I myself prefer the original Blacktron and Space Police series. I don't like many of the new parts for making space stuff. It just isn't the same. Click hinges for one are destoying many of the possibilities in ships due to the greater thickness. Yet they are helping in others such as Mecha and landing gear. LEGO and many other companies have said children just don't have the imagination that they used to back in the days of the classics. I say it is because they quit pushing imagination by pumping out the story driven junk we see everywhere now. I'll admit it does sell but it may not be promoting the creative process as it once did. That is why classic (insert theme) is better than the stuff from today. For me at least.

I like this scene very much. The river looks "alive" and it is below the ground level (though barely). I think it could have benefitted from a few rocks coming out of the water. The bridge is odd in the two tone. I would suggest either making it one color or making it more varied. Solid black rails and solid brown base makes it seem weird to me. That is a lot of fish!

Thanks everyone! My day has just started here in Minnesota and I hope it is great also. I don't expect much loot this year though. Maybe a little money or some honey from my love bunny. Not that I call her that mind you, I just added it for Cuttysake. MOC on everyone!

I was once in a relay race which was held in a very bad spot. Not enough room to properly run and certainly not the best place to have it as it was on gravel partly. Anyway, in finishing the race I cam e to an area to quickly and had to decide in jumping to avoid a short wall or sliding to quicken my stop. I slid. Thanks to the said gravel my slide turned into a slip with all of my momentum and weight being applied to my left arm which wasn't move the same direction I was. At least not at first. I heard this awful snap noise and noticed my arm felt funny. When I looked down I found to my great surprise that I had added what looked like a second elbow in the middle of my forearm but backwards. Naturally seeing ones arm have a ninety degree angle in a place it shouldn't I did what anyone would due I turned to my nearest family member and said "This isn't good." Nothing ever broke the skin and I had to wear a cast for the rest of the summer. I still have the plate and four screws and a six inch scar. I had broken may arm in four places. The more interesting side effect though is that in using one arm for everything over a six month period and being force to keep the other elevated for sleeping, swimming, bathing and often general recovery I had developed a funny shape. The muscles in my neck and shoulder on the left side are noticably bigger and those in my right side and chest are bigger. This is one reason I stuck with LEGO as a hobby versus sports. I have yet to break or cut anything more than a scratch while moccing. ;-)

Anything with a monkey sounds good to me. Though I think I need to have a lowly rank as I am a lan lubber at heart. The sea calls my name only after I have been made to feel sick and it wants to see what I had for lunch. *wacko* Can you put one of those spiffy backgrounds in it too? No rush mind you. I won't be putting it to use for a little while yet.
-
Very nice. Will you be adding any parts to the back to make it more armored like the front? I like the black color scheme better than the red but it does seem "evil" in a way.
-
I want a pirate avatar! Put of course being a castle and Mecha fan first and foremost that it would seem pointless for me to have one as I would rarely use it. However, if you were willing I would like a monkey with a map or cutlass on any background. I promise I would use it at least three months out of every year and especially with the upcoming and extremely exciting pirate adventure/mystery I am working on currently. A good signature would be the classic LEGO design or a sword and map wielding monkey guarding a treasure chest on some tiny island or something like that. Well Phes, what do you think? Do I qualify at all? Or should I hand my Spanish figures to some South American witch doctor so he can perform voodoo on it until you make me one? :-D

Interesting read on flawed Jedi-philosophy...
SuvieD replied to Cutty's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Interesting read. Inconsistancy is the biggest failure of the whole series I-VI. Though arguably the acting in I-III is just as bad for most actors. I like how it explained what was trying to be portrayed and how it would fail despite all the effort to make it work. I also like how it is made obvious that it is love that wins over all in the end. That is why the original worked so well and the prequels didn't for me. That and the fact that George is a hack. :-D -
Shopko stores have a 10% off sale on all LEGO. Which isn't much of anything really but they do have a few items of interest. All the $15 EXO Force sets are $12 and the batmobile normally $30 set is only $24 plus and extra 10% off making it like $21.50 or something. Good deals if you ask me.

Send me a PM with parts you are looking for. I have plenty to trade. If you are looking for Starwars, pirates or Technic in particular I probably won't have much or in the case of Technic none. If you are looking for Town, printed parts, or generic parts in general I have them in mass. So just send me a list and I will get back to you with what I have.

Bricklink is still your best option. It will take some time but go through the catalogue and add parts to your want list in the colors and for the prices you are willing to pay. Then whenever you are looking to get more parts simply look at your want list by store and buy some. If you want to be safe simply put yourself on a one purchase per week/month and limit how much you will spend. This will keep you from over spending. Used parts are obviously cheaper but many of the bulk sellers have good prices for new and used. Just stick to your want list and you will have an easy time finding what you are looking for. Here is a list of stores I have always found to have good prices for much of what you are looking for. DEN GER US US FRA GER US US If you are still not finding what you are looking for let me know in a PM. I am sure we can work something out. I have many odd colored pieces in bulk that I have gotten dirt cheap and would be willing to share some with you. Shipping from the US can be expensive at times though so I recommend trying BL stores based in Europe. 1000steine for cheap bulk and El Lutzo for free shipping specifically.

Simple but somewhat lacking. I like the color scheme but the black seems kind of blotchy. I also dislike the stickers. Personal preference though. I would switch the guns for brick built ones or at least black in the same piece. You may want to rework the movement for the guns as they don't shoot up which is actually very odd for a tank. You may also want to add more wheels as it is more like a big armored jeep and not as sturdy as a more typical tank would be. Obviously an older MOC as you mentioned so rework may not happen but in future things to maybe keep in mind. I like the colors and the compact size though and the parts usage is nice also. If you rebuild, post a picture so we can see your improvements.

Welcome to Eurobricks Andy. Go check out the pirate threads and introduce yourself to Phes. He is always fond of another pirate fan.

Simple is good! ;-) I give this final version an 8/10. I would have like some more sturdy looking wings but as this is just my opinion I only take off 1 point. The other missing point is due to the fact that nothing is perfect. Certainly an awesome ship and one I would buy as a LEGO set. Your landing gear is more than sufficient. This ship is a fighter not a huge cargo tanker. That and it looks good.
