Shuttle TYDERIUM - Contribution to BUILD YOUR OWN GALAXY
Commander Colt replied to Orionpax's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very good job on the Lambda! I really like the build of the guns and upper cabin section. -
Yes, I would mostly because I want to see any new possible Rebels/Ep 7 builds, plus a UCS Venator, most everything else I think has been done. They have most mainstream minifigs created, as well as most sets, so people are now complaining that all they see are remakes, showing us that it is time for new material. Clone wars has been holding us up for the past several years, but with that gone Lego decided it needed more so we got the Yoda chronicles and the Jek-14, and I feel we'll get more stuff like that if we continue to lack new popular material.

I like it! Very clean and finished looking build. I like the leg design on the alien and the antenna, both are very nice. -
[WIP] UCS TIE Variants (All of Them)
Commander Colt replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I started scrolling down, went huh these are cool I've never heard of most of these, and they are done so well! And then I kept going, and going, and going. These must have taken an incredible amount of work! Sure, they're all TIEs but they all seem to have their own style and design each seeming to have in it many of hours of thought and work! Brilliant! I started off with the TIE Fighter, which is awesomely built, and goes on to the many other crafts, each of which has its own beauty. Favorites: Neutralizer, Sentinel, Chiss, Oppressor and Scimitar -
Very nice, a more unusual craft that came together fairly well, and I ike that you made sure to complete every corner of the craft! I'd reccomend tiling over and using slopes if at all possible, also maybe inserting some sort of tubing at the front end. Being a rarer craft never seen in any of the movies, it doesn't seem to have a defined image, as most images online seem to differ slightly. I would say that from most images, it does seem like the lower end could be wider to make the cockpit more pronounced.

At a set of this scale, is there any way to bricklink a set for under its msrp? (By foregoing certain larger rarer pieces?) For the sandcrawler, I suspect that it will be an expanded remake of the last one, 10144, though since the price is double, it would be the largest non-UCS set besides the deathstar playset. It might be Lego's way of releasing the Cuusoo model that reached 10K as they probably already wanted to make Cuusoo for nonbranded sets at that point(Issues with BTTF license?).

I like this! Great recreation of an undervalued scene from an undervalued movie. I like the inclusion of the press..maybe there is a way for the press to have a trapdoor of some sort that replaces a fig with a tile... Great job with the color scheme.

I like this idea! It reminds me of the Imperial V-wings at the end of Ep. 3! TIE Pilot uniforms in orange would be awesome.

[mini MOCs & MODs] Who the #@/! shrank my collection!
Commander Colt replied to Nom Carver's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very nice! I enjoy the attempt at making them to scale with each other (though I don't know how big they all actually are) -
Overall appearance is great with the moon background, and I really like the suddenly Rhodian ET!

[SoNE free build] "Tracking a smuggler"
Commander Colt replied to Nom Carver's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Very good overall, I like the scene that is created! A couple comments, the section behind the cockpit could be a bit thicker, and the rear culd be a bit blockier, but besides that, its spot on! -
In this, scale comedy of this type (character not situational) seems a little lacking, and this MOC helps out plenty! The facial expression and the wrench combine to give you an instant read on what kind of character this is, which is definitely not an intelligent one.

They seem like an interesting idea, I haven't seen many chibi style Lego sets, and I for one enjoy the turbo tank one from the pictures. The planets gave us some nice planets for display/use, but the sets themselves were just regular mini sets, whereas these are interesting because they do seem like a new and different take on these craft.

What are the odds of a 10179 rerelease or a new Falcon UCS?
Commander Colt replied to merman's topic in LEGO Star Wars
"something like that" Besides that it won't be coming this year, as we know pretty much everything coming out this year, they may have simply meant something at that size scale. -
I have heard this as well, though the article I read was very skeptical of any potential results, and said they will most likely scrap everything but the movies, because the rest is so ridiculously jumbled, and Ep 7 is supposed to be totally new material, so no Yuuzhan Vong and Palpatine reincarnations. The main guy who is in charge is on twitter @HolocronKeeper. The difference now for EU stuff getting in, is that it will have the same level of credibility (officially) as the movies, whereas before the movies were still considered more correct than everything else. I am really excited about the designs of ships that will be created for this movie, as I feel they could come up with some very cool stuff that will pave the way for some awesome sets and MOCs.

People pay for the set, not a MOC, there are plenty of better alternatives out there, with interiors and better cabins and better stands. This set has a cult following that people feel it commands, and the rarity makes people want it more.

Good job, a couple comments. The guns could probably be stuck onto the wing tips, or if you are using them as a gray frame, be added elsewhere. The antenna at the bottom of the cockpit seems a bit out of place, on the actual thing they are small enough that they do not need inclusion at this scale. The panels at the middle inside rear of the wings, could be black instead of gray. Maybe a larger dish for the top and bottom of the cockpit(3 wide)?
-
Besides the fact that this isn't even EU, bu simply Fanon. It exists only as a modpack for Star Wars X-wing alliance, and nowhere else. The ship itself isn't bad, but the cockpit seems too short and the back end of the wings feels like it could be narrower. The wings should have less greebling, the cockpit more. Though if accuracy wasn't the concern, it makes a great statement ship and looks fairly good overall.

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary Minifigure (2014)
Commander Colt replied to DarthR2-D2's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Eh, I'd think they might do leia's dress from the ceremony, I don't think we have one of those yet -
I love the forced perspective idea on this moc, and the execution came out really well! I really like the crane and floor design, both came out really well. I would have loved to see just as puny a TIE chasing the smoking a-wing!

[SoNE Freebuild] Overhearings on Nar Eurbrikka
Commander Colt replied to Artizan's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I love that sludge pipe and pond, both help integrate the transition between the imperial base and the black market slum! Also of interest: the hilariously short fuel line and the ewok glider canopy which really settles in the tattered feeling of the market.- 19 replies

[SoNE Freebuild] The streets of Nar Eurbrika
Commander Colt replied to Wedge09's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
I like the ground style, makes for a very convincing old road, which fits well with the streetlamp, scaffold, and the old looking rear wall. I laughed at the stormtrooper garden and the rebel's choice of daily reading
