Great interview and thanks for writing it, Cutlass_Iz! I think I would have understood almost all of it even if it was just in audio but it's a good help to have it in writing too. Looking forward to see more of your ship, Teddy! It's a fantastic project! And I'm also looking forward to the next interview with "Behind the Helm"!

How many of the LEGOLAND's have you been to?
Etzel replied to Piranha's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've been to Billund twice when I was a kid, but never as an AFOL (so I'm really looking forward to the EB Event this spring). I would like to visit all other Legolands too but if I have to choose one it would be California because of the cheap LEGO -
Or this one if you want a fleshie:

Just change it to Central then and stop worrying. As a lot of people has mentioned the forum clock is an hour off, but why care when you can change it to the right time yourself that easy.

It is, but Peter Jackson will be executive producer and co-writer. I'm a Tolkien fan so of course I would love some sets from the new Hobbit film. But I don't think it's realistic, LEGO missed the LOTR films and now they have such an awful lot of licensed themes already. We can always hope but I doubt we will see any sets

Atlantis sets already on sale!?!
Etzel replied to General Armendariz's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Yes, he got them. Go check the Atlantis topic, some guy has already bought the set and posted pictures on Flickr. -
Great article, Brickster! The doctors and nurses in LEGO City must have a hard situation. So many patients to take care of and no acceptable hospital... But I think there is another terrifying side of this problem. Where has those doctors and nurses got their educations? By the looks of it none in LEGO City has ever studied in any school and therefore I seriously doubt the knowledge of those quacks.

No, you're right. One is tan and the other is dark tan. I wonder if Dastan's head is supposed to be that similar to Indy's head? I would have preferred a new one (I already got like 5 Indy heads). But I guess the awesome hairpiece and printed torso and legs makes up for that. April is so far away

I'm there too! Winning the 10197 Fire Brigade

Thanls, the Inventor! Well, I do appreciate all the work LEGO has done to make this very interesting and funny storyline. To bad the sets don't live up to that standard.

Didn't I told you in your presentation topic to become a member on swebrick.se? Make sure to register now so you don't miss out on anything else LEGO-related in Sweden.

I got back from a great event with SweBrick (Swedish LUG) today and I didn't get back empty-handed This is the free stuff I got Some were prizes from the competition we had and some were just giveaways from LEGO. And I also got my 10199 Winter Toy Shop that I had ordered from S@H some time ago. I've just finished building it and I think it's a great set! Edit: Oh yes I almost forgot, I also won the 10197 Fire Brigade

Very good job, Aliencat! Interesting angles and I like the "courtyard" on top of the curved wall section. I was reading about this contest yesterday and I think this category is really interesting. There is so many castles that were built with clay-fired bricks instead of stone but hardly anyone builds them in LEGO. The problem is of course the colour with red being too bright, brown being too brown, dark red being too rare, etc. None of the existing colours are perfect but I think you have made a great work with this castle anyway. The mix of colours really makes the building more realistic. Good luck in the contest!

Oops! Can't believe I missed that. Well, all I can complain about now is that it doesn't come in reddish brown

I have tried to build a sort of big canoe using those hull pieces and it's not a total disaster I don't have any pictures right now but I might include it in my next MOC and show you then. The problem is that they are only 6 wide which is quite small for a sailing ship. But for a boat with oars or paddles I think it can be good. I wish this piece came in inverted form because then it would be easy to make the hull wider. On a side note, these hull pieces has been used in another ship set before: 8821 Rogue Knight Battleship. Maybe not the most realistic ship but it shows that it's possible to make a decent small sized ship. Anyway, the 7197 Venice Canal Chase is a great parts pack with nice colours. All the dark tan should be very useful in many Pirate MOCs so I recommend you buy it. The minifigs are popular so if you don't want them you might be able to sell or trade them pretty easily.

LEGO Nomenclature article from The Morning News
Etzel replied to Noodles140's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Very interesting article! Thanks for bringing it up, Noodles140! I remember when me and my brother was building together when we was young and we knew what part the other was talking about (or we could easily explain it). Nowadays I build by myself so I hardly ever uses any of "my" names for the pieces (even if I probably think of them when I looking for the pieces). But I think I'm more and more have changed to use the official names of the pieces to easier communicate with other AFOLs. It's really confusing (and funny) when you discover that someone has a totally different name for a piece than you have. Here in Sweden it's also a problem if you should use the official English names, translate them to Swedish or come up with a new Swedish name. -
Very nice! The banana bunch is very clever and there is a lot of other great work in this MOC. The forced perspective is a nice touch and I like the SNOT rock in the SNOT water I'm currently building something with a similar concept for the PTV II contest (large category) and it's interesting to see how other people think and build. Good job!

Amazing work, DNL The castle structure is very interesting with walls here and towers there and lots of details everywhere I've always liked your landscaping skills and you don't disappoint me with this MOC, really good wotk on those cliffs and trees. I'm very curious about those coiling green plants in the lower part of the third picture, are that those plastic pieces that comes with this plant piece that you normally just throw away? If so, very clever use!

Best and Worst Set: 2009 Edition
Etzel replied to Legoliner Pilot's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm only going to list sets that I actually have bought so I know them well enough to judge: Best: 10193 Medieval Market Village According to me the best LEGO set ever. 6253 Shipwreck Hideout Pirates made a great comeback in 2009 and I think this was the best set in the line. 7195 Ambush in Cairo Fantastic minifigs just like in all IJ sets this year! But the price is not a winner Honourable mentions: 6192 Pirate Building Set 7197 Venice Canal Chase Worst: 6241 Loot Island Not living up to the standards of the other Pirate sets. I don't like the big island piece and the unnecessary canon and catapult. Just bought it to complete my Pirate collection and because of the great printed legs of the shipwrecked pirate. Themes that I didn't want to buy a single set from: Power Miners Space Police III Agents 2.0 Bionicle Racers -
Magnificent! So big with so many details, great work! I will study many of those building techniques more carefully, they are really nice!

I recently received an unreviewed set and I thought I might share my thoughts on it with the community. I believe the Acadamy can help me with that, right? I'm would like to join, please

Once again, all dates suits me fine

I had two grey as a kid but now I have none. And I don't feel the need for anyone neither, my fingernails are good enough and when they aren't I can always use some other bricks or plates to separate the pieces.
