Thanks for the pictures, your helmet looks very nice. I'm sorry but I can't help you with your question about the insignia and honestly I don't think you will have much of a chance to find an answer here on EB (although I could of course be wrong, maybe there is an expert on German WWII helmets somewhere here?). I would recommend you to contact a military historian or a museum that has knowledge about these kind of stuff. Please let us know when you've uploaded more pictures of your collection, it's really interesting to watch . Is it only WWII stuff or do you have something from other time periods too?

But from ICS point of view that would be "going out east" Unless he's taking a very long detour

Bricklink says that the 1x3 tile is only available in dark bley, light bley, lime, red and white. The 10210 Imperial Flagship is inventoried on BL too and has no 1x3 whatsoever so I guess we have to wait a little longer for those precious brown 1x3 tiles Edit: oupps, Svelte was a millisecond faster than me. Sorry for the unnecessary post.

No, but I have. And Legoliner Pilot has, so I'm asking him in particular

Isn't there a window washer too? Or am I remembering incorrectly from when I saw the picture? (could have been a preliminary though)

Thank you very much! You will not have to wait long to see my house, I'm almost done already!

I didn't have instructions either so I used Peeron, here is a link: Instructions

Here is my votes SlyOwl - 1 Svelte - 1 Erdbeereis - 1 All MOCs are really good, and very funny too

For me this is an easy choice. I definitely prefer MOCs. I do build the sets from instructions when I first get them but after a week or so they all go down the same road of destruction Sets are part packs to me and even if some of them are extraordinary good, like 10193 MMV and 10197 Fire Brigade, I can't resist taking them apart and use the pieces for my own creations. And for the same reason I never keep my MOCs assembled for longer than a week or so either. I need to have the parts at hand when the inspiration strikes I might not be good at MOCing all different kinds of objects and therefore I sometimes use official designs when I'm building something I have little experience of. But I always change some parts and try to give the object a unique look (like I did with this MOD of 6240 Kraken Attackin'). If I don't do that, I don't feel that it's "my" LEGO creation. Maybe I'm just a sucker for attention and therefore wants to be able to take credit for my LEGO creations

That's very kind of you, RyanT, but I don't think you should give up your spot just to give it me. I'm sure that you can find the time to make something yourself. I will await the answer from the C-P staff and see if I can be in or not. If it's the latter I guess I just build a 16x16 house anyway
-
No, it's not! I would very much like to be in this project but I've been busy the past week and therefore I missed out. But I was wondering if I maybe could have a place anyway? I was thinking about just a normal house like #28-30, because those aren't buildings you can get too many of, right? Let me know if it's ok or if you chose to stick with what you have so far. I understand if you want to draw the line somewhere but I would be very happy if I could join you.

Well, a motorcycle isn't very big so if you miss some parts it might be a good idea to get them from Bricklink. Try first to build around with your small parts and see if you can construct the different parts of the bike. When you know what parts you need you can order them or look for sets than contains those parts.

I would very much like to have my sigfig in your display this year too, please. I like my brick-built duck but I think I rather have my carolean soldier that I had last year. Thanks for doing this again!
-
Thanks for the very nice review, Rufus! I'm no SW-fan but I really like the look of this set. The figs are excellent and I'm very happy that they have new faces with those highlighted eyes (fits better with the other themes) I'm also pleased with the pieces in this set. A lot of useful colours (tan plates and dark red tiles are always useful to me) and a couple of those new headlight bricks. But the price is a real disapointment. It's even £5 more expensive here in Sweden and I'm not sure if I want to spend that much money for so few bricks Maybe I will try to get the minifigs from Bricklink instead.

That's exactly what makes it so great! It's simple design allows you to add the details you want and at the places you like. It's easy to build alternate models and the pieces are very useful for MOCs. I think it's more fun to imagine your own version of the castle, come up with clever play features and details, and then add them yourself to the castle. But I understand your point of view and I agree that as a display set it's inferior to many of the newer castles like Royal Knight's Castle or King's Castle Siege. The play features in this set might not be many but I strongly believes that it has a greater play value thanks to it's simple design that encourage the builder to make their own versions. LEGO is a construction toy after all

Are you sure that it isn't me in the picture? The face is hidden so it's possible Nice vig, Selander! Really funny

Thanks for the wonderful review, def! This set came out a couple of years too early for me to get it but I think it's a really good castle. The best thing with it is the simplicity which allows you to easily change the form and structure of the castle to the way that suits you the best. This set is very close to what I imagine a Creator Castle could look like (minus the minifigs and accessories). Lots of grey pieces with a baseplate and some detail pieces in black. I definitely give this set a 5 but I don't think I will get it if I get the chance. That is mainly because of the difference in colour between the old grey and the new bley. I built up a new LEGO collection after my dark age (which ended in 2006) so almost all my grey pieces is in the new colour and I'm not to fond of mixing them. But if LEGO would release a similar set, either a remake of this or a Creator set, I would surely buy it. Thanks again for the review!

Ah, I see. I really like a how you take inspiration from so many different mythologies (just like different mythologies often borrowed myths and stories from each other). Your witches seems to have an interesting hierarchy with the Hag, the Mother and the ... hm, what is Xulda's position called? (You don't have to tell me that if you intend to reveal it later in the comic ) You've also reminded me that I still haven't got the complete statue dress that you use for Urda, I really need to get one myself Sounds great! Make sure you make a separate topic for the next chapter's big MOC when your done, just like you did with the Cottage of the three witches this time
-
I totally agree with you that a Castle Creator set would be fantastic! Lots of bley bricks with some black and brown for the details would be great. I think a set like that would encourage many kids to build more buildings and castles then just catapults and other vehicles that TLG constantly makes. I think I will try to make a set like that myself just to experiment how it could be made.

My fellow SweBrick member robban brought this very nice orc village to our latest event, including these orc+dino cavalry: PIC-LINK Works very nice in my opinion if you're fine with high fantasy.
-
SweBrick member robban made some good use of the silver stormtrooper in this MOC: PIC-LINK Together with this armor piece it makes a really good knight in full shiney armor.

I will definately come to the EB Event!

Is it this competition you're talking about? LINK Looks like fun! Maybe we in the Nordic team should make a training schedule, 1 hour of tower building practice each day until the event should increase our chances of winning. Do you use to have a blind-building competition too? Because I've got good experience of those... -
How nice to finally see some pictures of the sets! I know that they have been out for a while but I was away during the holidays and didn't see them until I got back some days ago (although I had seen some small low-quality pictures before too). I really like all of the sets and I will probably get them all. It will certainly going to hurt my wallet because I expect these sets being very expensive (like all licensed sets here in Sweden, BL might be an alternative). I especially like that there is plentiful of minifigs in every set and the absence of vehicles (I much prefer buildings ). The colours are also terrific especially in 7573 Battle of Alamut, all that dark orange... It's still a long time to April but I will wait patiently because I think Prince of Persia will be the highlight of LEGO 2010

It very nice to see that you've started on this new comic, Sandy! I missed it when it came out during the holidays but now I've read it. It seems to be a very interesting and exciting story and I can guarantee that I will be following it closely. I really like the characters - especially all of Xulda's/Berenice's (which one is we supposed to know her as in the future?) friends from the forest (the satyr is especially good) Looking forward to the next chapter (and those after that too, I want to know more about the two older witches from the cottage ) Keep up the good work!

A very nice MOC, Sandy! I think you have made an awesome job creating this cottage and there is many great techniques and details to admire. One thing I really like is the way you built it to be able to photograph both the outside and inside. Somehow it makes the cottage look small on the outside and big on the inside and I very impressed by that. When I build houses I often gets one that looks big on the outside but really cramped inside, but you managed to create the opposite effect and I really like that. I also like the roof and the outhouse, very realistic The garden is nice too but if I should mention something that could be improved it would be to include some elevation in the landscape. It doesn't have to be much, just a couple of green plates, because now all is standing directly on the baseplate which makes it a little bit too "flat" if you understand what I mean. But that's just a minor thing, the awesomeness of your MOC makes those kind of things very insignificant
