Thanks everyone for your nice comments! I'm really happy that you liked it Thanks, a winter version is definitely an interesting idea. Maybe I'll try that. I lived in a log cabin like this with grass roof for about a year, that might be the reason why I choose to make that kind of roof. It was a very cosy home and the grass sure did it's insulation job good This is a little embarrassing but I actually was so convinced that I didn't have enough log bricks to build this MOC that I ordered a bunch from Bricklink. Then I started to build anyway just to figure out techniques and stuff, and suddenly I had built the whole cabin. So now I have a BL order of log bricks coming with the mail any day soon with the MOC already done Conclusion: It don't take that many log bricks actually. Especially not if you include windows. Wow, thanks a bunch! Actually the walls of the cabin wasn't so tricky, just normal building but sideways. The real problem was the roof with the different angels, that took a couple of tries to make right. I agree that including this into a larger diorama would be really awesome. Your idea with a canoe and river is great and I would love to do something like that one day. But I don't think my pieces will suffice right now (although I've been proven wrong recently ). Thank you! The walls are built with a brick in the bottom that goes sideways and attach to a headlight brick under the floor of the cabin. Then the dovetailed corners (I think that's the right term) helps to keep them steady. Yeah, the interior is a little dull in colours. Maybe a carpet would have worked? I wasn't very concentrated on making this MOC historical accurate so I guess there's a lot on anachronisms in it. But it's true, we aren't much different from the people of the past. Thanks! Well, green was what I first thought of when I started with the roof. But as you say brown would probably been a great choice too, I think the roof is a little to steep for a grass roof actually. But I think I would've wanted a dark brown roof in that case to separate it from the cabin and I don't have that many dark brown pieces. I'm glad you liked the WIP pictures, I thought it was a fun idea to document the progress

Another one?! You're on a spending spree, Dennimator

It didn't take long before I came up with an idea for a new Western MOC. Some weeks ago I was looking at different log cabins at Brickshelf and thought I might try one myself. I've really gotten into the Western spirit and already got an idea for a third MOC but I don't know when I will find time to build that. Anyway, lets check out this one. The trapper Henry MacNéill lives with his wife and son in the Rocky Mountains in the log cabin that he has build himself. It's a hard life and lately the demand for furs has dropped drastically. MacNéill no longer gets paid as much for his goods and all his hard work might not be enough to support his family. But maybe the solution to his economical problems is closer than he thinks...: Brickshelf Gallery Thanks for watching! As a bonus, here is the WIP progress of the MOC, starting of as a simple sketch: 1,2,3,4,5 You can also see the total mess that is supposed to be my desk /Etzel

What is the hardest Lego set you have ever built?
Etzel replied to SharkMan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
No you're right, there is video from that event here. But it's not showing me when I'm blind building, that's another guy. -
What is the hardest Lego set you have ever built?
Etzel replied to SharkMan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The hardest set for me to build was 5625 Police 4x4: Why? Well, because I was blindfolded -
Yeah, that's an awesome idea! Why oh why don't I have any neck brackets?

Very good work! I'm very impressed by how you did the blood in the water near the shore, perfect!

Thanks everyone for your comments! I even got frontpaged ! First time I think Thanks, I'm not a fan of stickers and I can't print my own either so this was my only option if I wanted to have some text. And I wanted that I had a hard time coming up with a word that could be spelled with this building technique. Saloon, Bank, Store and Sheriff was all abandon because of the tricky N, K, T and R. Maybe it's an early precursor of the Grand Emporium... Thank you very much! Your Tombclone MOCs certainly made me get myself together and finish this one. The brown flower stems were purchased through this BL store: S087 They seem to have raised the price a little though. But it sure is a nice element to have, I wish I had more. Another Western MOC isn't too unlikely, but I haven't got anything figured out yet. The future will tell I guess. Thanks again everyone!

MOC Marco Polos house in Venice
Etzel replied to thomassio's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hi Thomas! That's a great MOC, the house is very impressive with nice details like the arches and big windows. The bridge is excellent, very good use of minifig legs and nice SNOT on the steps. To include the picture in your post you use this button when writing or editing your post and paste the url from your picture. Will you make a MOC of the adventurers when they've come to India too? Keep up the good work! -
So, now it's my turn to hop on the Western bandwagon here on EuroBricks Here is my new MOC picturing two cowboys who are driving their cattle past an old abandon shop. There are many borrowed techniques in this MOC that I like the give credit to the inventors for: The Shop sign is a moderation of the sign on the 10197 Fire Brigade by our favourite LEGO designer Jamie Berard, the vulture is from Legohaulic and his wonderful Western town and the cactus that it's sitting on is my mediocre try on gambort's design (I had too few sand green pieces), and I belive I first saw the flower steam technique in this MOC by SlyOwl. So all the cool techniques are not mine But I hope I at least combined them in a good way and that you enjoy this little scene. (some of the pics are links to versions with higher resolution) BrickShelf gallery (when moderated) Thanks for watching! /Etzel

He better come up with a good deal in that case, because I would really like those temple guards I'll contact you if that isn't the case. Sorry, no Slime Face. I only had the agents figs from Volcano Base (and of them I only got Agent Trace left).

Yes, the second chapter is here! I've been waiting eagerly! I must start to say that LEGO-wise this is a really good chapter. The bedroom and the hall is very well done, I especially like the use of turntables on the floor of the hall. I also like the tooth pieces on the doors and Beatrix's bed. The story is also good, I had no problem with the many characters. I think that's because they are all very unique and easy to recognize. The part with Lady Confucia is a little predictable if you know Beatrix from before but I see why you included it. I really liked that we got to meet Rod again, he was my favourite character in PQ. The Blood Knight sound like a very interesting person, I suspect we will see more of him later on. Your photos are really good and you make good use of different angles. But some photos are a little blurry I think - like the one where Beatrix is longing for the armor and the one when Lady Confucia shows her grumpy face. Not much of a deal but maybe something to have in mind. Very nice work Sandy! Now the long wait begins again.

So, now we have to learn TLG's official names for the colours? I'm already confused, since they call regular green for dark green and tan for brick-yellow This will take a while to learn I think. Edit: I'm especially lost in the "nougat" field, anyone who knows which colours those are

Sorry guys. I already made up a deal with Natman8000. I don't need more than one Henry Jones Sr. so I updated the first post (the topic title is still a bit misleading though ). If you got some of the other minifigs I'm after, feel free to contact me.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Etzel replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
In the close-up picture of the clown and crash dummy I think it looks like the arms got that square on the inside, indicating the lower quality type of minifigs that some were worried about. It's hard to see so I'm not completely sure. Personally I don't find those minifigs much worse so I will still get them, but it's sad that TLG can't stick with their usually high quality. -
But the front of the caste got a full high wall even when it's on the raised baseplate. And I still think a wall needs to be a bit higher than what it is on the back side, it's not offering much protection from arrows and such. True, but I don't care much about playability, I prefer the building process. And there are other ways of making the castle accessible for play, like folding it out like King's Castle. I think I don't like it because it's so big. It's like on huge <insert that tiresome argument> piece that limits your building abilities on it. It's a cheap and easy way to raise the castle and make it look bigger that it really is and I'm not liking that.

Sorry, for digging up this topic but I'm in the same situation as ISC. Building a Western MOC and looking for some feedback on my minifigs. But I will first comment on the topic starter's work. I really like the second minifig with the SW rebel torso, it fits great. Not so sure about the following two, I think they both look a bit to modern. All in the second picture look very good to me, although I didn't realise it was ponchos those capes were supposed to be at once. Now, here is my western minifigs, including a Chinese gang. I thinking of maybe turning this into a lego comic so therefore I provided many of the characters with both hair and hats (and even wedding costumes for the main couple) so that they can be pictured in different situations. Link here, the picture was a bit to large. Please share your opinions.

It sure is Western season! I'm sure you can't guess what I'm working on right now Although I'm fairly sure my MOC won't be as awesome as your or Kris Kelvin's I really like the colours you used in your buildings. Not only the tan, dark tan and brown which gives a nice natural feeling, but also the sand green and white that shows that the inhabitants of the town actually cares about it's look. Yesterday I spent a lot of time building the people for my western MOC and you've given me some nice inspiration for how to expand their numbers. I especially like the minifig in front of the Sheriff's Office with the SW rebel torso. I really need to get me one of those! (EDIT: I posted in your topic about Western minifigs too, you can watch and comment my minifigs there if you like) Great work ISC, I can't wait to continue to explore the town of Tombclone
