EB Xmas Raffle 2014 - Your Ideal Christmas Gift entry thread
Etzel replied to CopMike's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I want lots of snow for x-mas so I can go skiing! Thanks CopMike for doing this raffle again, it is always great FUN even if you don't win! -
I made this build for Swebrick's annual AFOL vs. AFOL contest which this year was about building a scene from an '80s movie of TV-series in which a vehicle was featured. The entries were anonymous during the voting that was done in knock-out stages leading up to a final which I actually won! Here is the climax scene from the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" from 1986 when Cameron's father's Ferrari crashes out of the big panorama windows: And a reference picture to the scene from the movie: Thanks for watching! /Etzel

Ch II: Team Simon: Cat A: Outside the Drow tunnel
Etzel replied to Etzel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks guys! Yes, I did indeed use those new joints. I had a few from the Chima Legend Beasts. Black skeleton heads from the Fantasy Era. Bricklink -
Entry for Challenge II, Category A, Team Simon. Reports from our spies tells about how the Drows has infiltrated our lands by the use of underground tunnels. The enemy can arise at any place and fall in our back. We need to locate the tunnel entrances and exist to stop this invasion! Scouts has been sent out to discover where the tunnels are ending. /Etzel

Love it! I know almost nothing about the car, but that model is sweet!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Etzel replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow! I'm so happy that we are back to the normal minifigure series, and with style as well! The Battle Goddess is amazing, everything I could've wished for. I really like the take on the Wizard as well, cool design. The rest is great as well in terms of parts, although I doubt I will use the complete minifigs much. The dark brown hat from the Swachbuckler, the hair piece and printed legs from the Dino Tracker, and the two colored arms of the Gamer. The Space Miner looks cool as well, I like that armor a lot so it's good to get it in more quantities. I'm really looking forward to see the rest!- 1,109 replies

Thanks! Yes, that same address is correct.

Well, I can't blame the alcohol since I didn't have any. (but I think the 1x6 brick sorters the day before hadn't put equal amounts of brick in every set (eg. 50 in some and none in others) before we on day 2 put 16 in every) I only know one thing that is missing on my castle so far, but on the other hand I know exactly where it is. Quarryman, you have my instructions in your laptop case.

I'm sitting on the train in the middle of Sweden (I'll be home at around 22:00 I think) but am already longing for the next event. This one was, as everyone has already said (but it's worth repeating), awesome! Big thanks to CopMike and Bonaparte for their work with all the planning and organizing, and big thanks to everyone that were there and made it so fun!

It's a separate MOC. I teared down the wall to make the hall with the same pieces.
-
Thank you very much! I actually built this before the previous chapter of Ettu's adventures, so I've had the pictures ready to put out for a while. I'm quite pleased with the MOC of the Hall, it was a fun build and I liked the way the colors work together. The wall and gate works too, but could be done better. I see now that it's a bit too flat, I should have moved the gatehouse out a few studs and broken up the walls with some damaged/discoloreds stones. One of my favorite parts: the Duplo Bearskin

After being freed from the bandits by the Mitgardian Cavalry, Shivering Ettu was accompanied by the captain to the house of the nearest lord. That happened to be the house of Sir Uldain, Lord of Bleywood, an old and proud patriarch who constantly complained about the Guild's central government in Valholl. His loyalty has been questioned before, but so far he has always kept his word and acted according to the decree from the Jarl, although often with a grumpy face. Ettu was a bit nervous before meeting the lord after the captain of the riders had told these things. However, it turned out that Sir Uldain was very interested in Ettu and his stories from the far north and invited him to stay at his house for as long as he wanted. Ettu accepted gladly since that would mean he had a great opportunity to learn about the culture and people of the south Mitgardia. I wonder what Ettu will do next, now when he has finally arrived in a southern Mitgardian town. I guess we just have to wait and see. /Etzel

Shivering Ettu was in trouble, being captured by bandits in the dark Mitgardia forests and taken on winding roads to the bandits camp out in the rocky wilderness. The leader of the bandits had gathered all his gold that he had stolen in a large heap in the camp, and looked curiously at Ettu when he was presented to him. He eventually decided that Ettu was to stay in the camp until they could get a good ransom for him from one of the higher lords of Mitgardia, the leader believed that Ettu must have been a quite important person to have traveled so far. Ettu spent a few weeks with the bandits, living a simple life with lots of interesting activities such as training some spear attacks and defense with his hosts. Some went better than others. Then one day, all out of a sudden, did a large group of armored riders appear at the camp. They stormed the gate and had rounded up all the bandits before anyone had understood what was going on. The captain of the riders intended to take all bandits as prisoner to the nearest town, and first mistook Ettu for just another, although a bit weirdly dressed, bandit. However, the mistake was cleared up and Ettu was given a horse to ride with the captain to the nearest Lord. Riding was not something Ettu was used to, which made the journey quite a challenge... Next stop, the Hall of Sir Uldain, minor lord of Mitgardia.

Book II Challenge II - Avalonian Civil War! - RESULTS POSTED
Etzel replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
I want to join! But I have no preferences on which side to choose so I leave that to you! -
Thanks guys! I got more scenes ready but I'll spread them out a bit. Sorry mate, I didn't realize that someone had already used that minifig combination. I guess it's a popular hair style in the lands of Historica. ;)

Nice MOC! I like the colors and the well is really well ( ) done! Great job! That's a quite controversial statement, both on the account that Christians might not like that you say that about their holy book, but also that you think Brendan Powell Smith's interpretation is "glorifying" those things while I would say it's more of the opposite. You might want to consider that the Brick Testament is a somewhat critical view of the Bible and that some scenes are depicted in a certain way to make people stop and think about what they just read.

Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Etzel replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
The adventures of Shivering Ettu continues, now with bandits! http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=94469 -
After the quick descent from the Heavenly Mountains, Shivering Ettu came down into the deep evergreen forests of Mitgardia. He followed the small paths that squiggled their way around the landscape and tried to keep going south as best he could. He had just come upon a junction in the path and was trying to decide which way to go when all of a sudden three men jumped out from behind the trees and attacked him! Ettu did what he could to defend himself but he got hit in the head and all went black. When he woke up the bandits forced him to come with them to their camp which lay far into the wilderness, through dense forests, over ravines and rocky terrain. What will happen to Shivering Ettu now? Stay tuned for the next chapter of his adventures! The bandit's camp and the landscape leading up to it is part of my contribution to the second version of Swebricks Medieval Community Build. It's not complete yet, but the part that was fitted perfectly for Ettu's story so I decided to use it. I just had to do a small scene where he got captured too. /Etzel

Eurobricks Event 2014 - Architecture competition

I had a hard time deciding, but I will try and make the Biological Museum (Biologiska Museet) in Stockholm: -
Thanks guys! I like how you have different opinions about the first build, I myself have some mixed feelings over it. I tried a lot of different techniques for it with for example sideways slopes, SNOT cheese slopes and tiles, but came to the conclusion that I wanted a more simple and staggered look. I do think that perhaps it's a bit too simplistic, but I didn't want to built it too big either. I'll keep in mind your comments and suggestion for the next rocky build I'll make. The second build was just for laughs really, not much thought behind the design but it turned out okay I think. It's hard to make snow look good in LEGO since the soft curves always gets broken up by the hard, rectangular lines by the bricks. Thankfully Ettu's travels is bringing him to less snowy areas soon.

Shivering Ettu continued his journey south and after leaving the Clan Lands he came upon the Heavenly Mountains, the highest peaks of all the lands in Historica. The climb was hard and dangerous, with strong winds that threatened to push him off the small ledges. Ettu also had this strange feeling that he was being watched, even though he never saw another person during his time in the mountains. When Ettu reached the final pass in the mountains he decided he had had enough of walking and climbing and took out a big piece of leather from his pack. He placed himself on top of it and went down the mountain in great speed. Luckily enough he managed to avoid the rocks and trees that came in his way, even if it was a bit too close for his liking sometimes. So, Shivering Ettu is getting closer and closer to his goal, but will he make it there in one piece? Stay tuned for more scenes from his travels in Mitgardia!

Thanks guys! The bushes are made by weaving together the leaf parts (6 for the small, 8 for the big one). It's a technique I've borrowed from Katie Walker: https://www.flickr.c...57632889011911/ It's probably just the lighting, these are old dark grey ninja hoods.

Got another build finished, In the land of the Wolf Clan:
-
Shivering Ettu's journey on board the Aurora of Mitgardia turned out to be quite short. A storm came upon the ship and Ettu was caught by a large wave and washed out in the sea. Luckily he stranded on a nearby shore and was found by the Clans folk. After telling them he was on his way south they provided two guides for Ettu, to help him find his way down to the Heavenly Mountains. It was the time of the short summer in the Clan Lands and everywhere there were small rivers with fast flowing, ice cold water from the smelted snow and ice. The people of the Wolf Clan however, was well aware of that and had built small bridges at all the important crossings. As with my previous build, I made this to contribute to the Landscapes of Mitgardia Community Build and to continue the story about my sigfig Shivering Ettu and his journey south. Expect two more little scenes soon! /Etzel
