Maurice looked in disbelief at the compass. Magic and technology together in one small object. Surely the elf was trying to tease him of his hatred against such things, but Maurice wouldn't not give him the pleasure of seeing his disappointment. He put on a straight face and said: "Well, thank you master Thalion. What a lovely... eh thing. And look how the needle spins! Oh how amusing! I'm sure I will use this all the time from now on."

"I'll appreciate if I get my 25 gold back too. I can take the mead too if no other wants it." Maurice then turned to the guildsman behind him and used a remedy on him.

"You want have any need for that gold where you are going, scum!" Maurice repeats his attack.

Guts hit Black Hat as well, right? He is still at full health in the stats. Maurice kept the distance between himself and the Black Hat while his comrades engaged with the enemy. Maurice knew he wasn't as effective as them in terms of offence, but his job was to stand his ground and provide defence for anyone in need. Sooner of later he would score a hit on the enemy too. He attacked the Black Hat once again from the front row.

Maurice raised his shield and prepared to protect the man that had crawled behind him. If he got the chance he would try to get a remedy to the poor man, but firstly there were some malicious poisoners to take care of. Maurice attacked the Black Hat from the front row.

Maurice felt that these conversations didn't yield much, so he returned to his party companions. "Nobody seems to know anything for sure about this event, and some persons seem a bit suspicious. The man in the black hat is someone that we should keep an eye on, I believe he and his friends could cause some trouble if they decide for that."

"Good for you. Well, I guess we will have to wait and see then." Maurice gives the orc 5 gold and then asks: "Do you know who the man with the hat over there is?"

"Not much but if your answer is good I might have 5 gold to spare. Who is your master by the way?"

"Maybe, I guess we will find out soon. Thanks for your time!" Maurice turns to the person with long black hair next to the guildsman. "Hello, did you by any chance see who put out the cauldron and the chest with potions? I heard something about the Masked Man making an appearance today, but so far I've seen nothing."

"Oh, well apart from that rumor, which seems to have spread quickly, you sure know how to keep secrets in your organisation. A lot of curious persons have gathered now, do you recognize any of them?"

Maurice's eyes narrowed as the man gave his nonchalant answer. "Likewise, all well experienced and determined to make sure order is kept during this event." Maurice gave the man a nod and left to speak to the brown haired man(?) wearing a brown cape in front of the platform. "Excuse me, do you know anything about what is going to be unveiled by the Guild today? I've only heard some vague rumours so far."

"Well, lets hope it will not come to that then. Are you here with someone? Or is there anyone here in the crowd that you recognize from before?" Maurice tries to sound as Diplomatic as possible when asking.

"I'm guarding a pair of civilians that were in need of some extra protection for the day. I'm just taking some precautions in case we were to encounter any problems."

Maurice notices how the man with the black hat, next to the werebat that Thalion spoke to, carries both a knife and a sword. "Excuse me sir. You seem very well armed for attending a public event like this. Any reason why you carry so many weapons?"

"It's me being serious about our mission, but maybe concepts like responsibility and wise judgement are alien to you, young rascal."

"I wouldn't mind dispatch a couple of thugs and bandits if we get the chance, but our foremost mission is to keep Lady Red and the Gnome kid safe. Running around in tunnels inhabited by criminals and Ennoc knows what isn't my idea of a safe trip. I've been underground in Eubric before and have encountered several things that could've made short work of our protégés."

"All right, but keep behind Mr. Holla. I've heard enough about the Wolfgang to know that walking uninvited into their territory is a bad idea. I'll bring up the rear and make sure that our elvish party leader is keeping up with the group."

"No way! I'm not touching that thing!" Maurice made sure to keep his distance from the black machine while giving the professor a sour look. The Paladin Order lost in time? One thing that made the Order so strong was its timelessness, there was always need for righteous and honourable defenders of the Light. All machines breaks sooner or later, but faith and ideals lasts forever. "Lets get going if everyone is ready. If our elven friend is going to make it to the unveiling in time while dragging on that thing we better move now."
