  4. Very interesting rear suspension. You can switch the spring and the wheel mount to get less travel on the wheel (the wheel mount is now closer to the pivot point of the trailing arms then the wheel. If you put the wheel mount closer to the pivot point it will travel less). You now have 1.5 stud travel, by switching it will reduce to 0.67 stud travel.

  6. Thanks for the tips. I have made a new version with the macaroni pieces. It is more in style (and now part of the construction), but also more bulky... The slight taper upwards in the front and back have been added, as is the taper in the front side. Thanks for the tip. If these parts were available in trans-clear or white it would be great... I've tried using the female connectors of the new CV-joints, but the 3L axle behind it gets in the way of the structure behind it. Anyway, here is the next update:
  7. Today's update: It may not seem as much, but the whole bodywork is redesigned a couple of times to minimize the clutter and to fix the panels. It fits on the upper deck of the trailer I am not too keen on the headlights, they are a little too large. Ideally I should have some 1.5 stud diameter transparant pieces... If anyone has a suggestion?

  9. Hi, I decided to join the fray of this competition. I justed needed inspiration for an interesting build. I first thought of making a transformer, but I didn't really get into that, so I'll save that for another day. Then my boys wanted me to watch some Netflix cars show. There I saw the Plymouth XNR, a concept car from the sixties. Asymmetric, wacky design, big fins and curves all over: So here is my first attempt at getting some kind of bodywork with fins: Unfortunately the fins make the car 17 wide. So I am outside the box... @Jim: I assume that this disqualifies me for the TC18? Or do you count the fins as mirrors? And a shot from the rear:

  14. Hi, Here is my latest MOC. It is a rather quickly thrown together model (one week for the design, another to make a digital version). The main goal was to see whether I could replicate the spoiler of the latest Zenvo supercar. Here is a picture of it: The car is RC, powered by a BuWizz. It features, drive, steering and braking. When the car steers left the left side of the wing moves upwards and the right side downwards. And when the car brakes the whole wing tilts forward to help braking. I've used the brakedisks of the Chiron to make the braking system. I havent dared to brake with ludricous mode though, the brakes are supereffective, so I am worried I will churn the CV-joint to dust when braking and driving at the same time. I also added butterfly doors, just because I've never build them before. It is quite a complicated mechanism with a ball joint and two links, but works like a charm. The doors close really snug, but are also easy to open because one of the links is springloaded. Also the doors have a see through section (stole that from McLaren). I also made a monocoque frame without a central column. You can see most of it in the belly shot. It is suprisingly stiff and sturdy. It is a bit curveous for a Zenvo I fear and the front is more Aston Martin-ish and the little winglets next to the rear C-pillars are stolen from the BMW i8. Sorry for the mediocre quality of the pics. I'll try to shoot a video as well.   16. Nice looking model. The lifting height is a bit on the low side since you didn't use a double lift mechanism. Have you considered putting the rear wheels the other way around? This way the attachment point of the wheels is closer to the rotation point. It will make them sag less.
  17. Interesting mechanics, that's for sure. Was it not possible to have the odd gears on one gearbox and the even on the other side? that way you'd get some sort of double clutch gearbox. The bodywork is pretty boxy as it is now, I'm curious how it will turn out in the end.
  18. Very nice & clean looking model. It's always difficult to capture those double curved surfaces, but I'd say you nailed this one.
  19. Even more offtopic, sorry, but not many other functions?? Motorized 8 speed sequential gearbox, independent suspension on all wheels, motorized ride height adjustment on the front wheels, openable doors and hood, V10 fake engine... what functions would you like more?

  21. That looks stunning already. A very ambitious project to undertake, I love that. The doormechanism looks really smart, these Lambo doors are a pain in the... to design. I am not sure about the combination of a motorized drive with a 7+R gearbox though. I fear you'll never get the speed you'd expect from such a supercar with such an elaborate gearbox. Have you testdriven it?

  23. The bulk of the spaceshuttle is quite boring, I agree. Having said that I think I will keep the panels for the doors, albeit in a different configuration. I've found a way to capture that curve better. Now I just have to make it IRL. I'll post some photos when I have built it.
  24. Yeah, that part bothered me as well. I have been thinking of an alternative where I use two curved panels instead of one to create a more rounded door. It would make the transition to the cockpit a bit more difficult. I feared that this solution would look less elegant (because it would be more out-of-system and because of this transition to the cockpit), so I never really tried. But I'll give it a try now.
