1. Emo suckz Metallica - Eye of the Beholder
2. I remember having this set (actually i even still have it, at least the pars are SOMEwhere ) when i was a child, and i used it for making races, as it is there for. All these many reviews let me think again at that i also planned to make some reviews for the town section. I got your message TheBrickster, don't worry! I got a lot to do at the moment, but i should find some time this upcoming week.
3. I thought of having alook at the perilous pitfall but it's already too expensive for my liking :(
4. I might be getting one of these. I'm not so into spongebob normally, but this looks like a good parts set, especially to maybe make a real city hospital.
5. This thread is quite funny for me, because actually making molds for die-casting and making tools for punching presses is the occupation i originally learned for 3 and a half years. so, this isn's as much impressive for me to see as for most of you i guess. But i'm already several years away now from this job so that makes it pretty "strange" to see such stuff again, generally at a lego message board
6. Yes, i thought quite the same. If you remember, the boxes in the 90's also had some figures and parts on display if you opened it, maybe it's similar here.
7. Firstly, welcome on here! This set actually really has no numbered bags, as also for example the imperial star destroyer. i got this a month ago and spent one whole day to build it. It's really a mess if all parts are one big bunch, but it is also fun i must say.
8. I must say i'm amazed on how many people here are listening to metal. I wouldn't have expected that in a lego forum.
9. My only fear is that soething could be glued..i'm certainly not hoping that Anywa<y i NEED this set, but nit's so damn expensive
10. Thanks very much, never saw this set before! Really cool features, with all the tools and even a fuel pump. One question, it looks like you got this new & sealed, how much did it cost?
11. I think it most likely would be this one, 3739 Blacksmith Shop: It looks really comfortable and i always would have a beer barrel at home
12. Thanks for another great review! I thik i also owned this when i was a kid and always loved how simple and small yet effective it was. I actually like the whole paradisa theme, the only minus point for me is the color scheme, which sometimes let it seem like a girlie theme. Other than that - great!
13. At the moment: Bruce Springsteen - Backstreets One of the greatest songs about friendship.
14. i remember this contest! The figure was called Max Timebuster i think and always was hidden somewhere and beeing searched by the police. I guess this is why i always had the feeling all minifigs with this face were bad guys
15. Great review of a great set! I really like the colors and the variety of it. I wish i also had some of these old classic town sets, but i don't. I'm really getting itno them at the moment, hopefully i can grab some in the near future.
16. It seems yours had been driving around in the desert a lot lately anyhow, i also owned this nifty set when i was a child and always liked playing with it. It mostly was used in my town as courier car and such stuff. I wish TLG would start again with making such sets with civilian cars.
17. Are you serious? One cannon is exactly right for a set of this size, and why would it be "too small"? What about impulse sets and so on then? And last, what would look "piratish" to you, if not a tower with a big gate that looks like a skull?
18. Allright, as i promised on the weekend, i've got one more review left, and this one is about a really great pirate set.Of course this isn't my last review ever, maybe i will review some older town & castle sets in the next weeks. but that's another story, let's focus on this one now! Set Nr.: 6279 Name: Skull Island Number of minifigs: 6 Number of pieces: 366 Release Year: 1995 General Overview: We got 6 Minifigs, a Parrot (not in the picture) and even an ape in this set! The soldiers only: And the pirates only: The Back/Inside is rather plain because it is in the water, but at least there's a treasure chest on the right and 2 guns on the left: One floor higher there's a small table with a goblet and a map for the pirate captain: You can open the floor where the table is on, and to light comes this little gun holder: On the very top the pirates can watch out for ships to plunder and then move barrels or something else with the crane: Back on the ground level, again the 2 hidden guns on the side from the tower: And at the front the "skull-door" opened: At the left back corner there's a barrel with some more guns and a palm tree. I like the use of the hammer to attach the branch to the tower: And finally at the front of the landing stage there is a cannon: In my opinion this is one of the best pirate sets ever made beside the ships, it's got great playability, and the skull-like door is designed very well also. You got plenty of minifigs, along with an ape and a parrot, and also lots of guns. Clearly a 10/10 for me, Pirates ON!
19. @iamded: yes it seems the dragon is used as such in the picture of the alternate model, but i guess bad and evil knights also wanna have some fun sometimes you are right with the green plate on the second floor, it does look a bit disturbing. but that can be easily solved by using a dkgrey 8x8 plate instead of the green one. the grey version is quite popular i think so it shouldn't bee too difficult to get one. @SWMAN: i know, but take a look at my EDIT in the first post, i just forgot to put the figure on the picture with the other guys. if you want i can make a new photo of all minifigs at once as it comes to more reviews, i actually got one set left i would like to review, but i'm off tomorrow to italy until thursday, so i won't be able to do it until then. only thing i can tell already is that it will be a mid-sized pirate set
20. Today i'm gonna review the bigger of the 2 castles from the fright knigh theme. I got this one last week at a pretty fair prive at ebay, new and still sealed. I love opening boxes that had been lying arounf for years and being the first to build an old set. Since i know this castle theme is not liked so much by the general public, i'll try here and change their minds, cause i really think this is a great set. This time i have to say my pictures turned out pretty amazing, even if i am still using just my cellphone cam, but i'm really pleased now with the quality. Here we go! Set Nr.: 6097 Name: Night Lord's Castle Number of minifigs: 7 Number of pieces: 598 Release Year: 1997 Let's start with a few box & instructions pictures: The inside od the box, with a few alternate models: The back, with another possibility how to assemble the 3 main parts: Instructions: Next, the 6 minifigs, starting with the witch on her black dragon: All 5 figures of the fright section: And the poor royal knight: We go on with the set itself, first a general overview (it's really high!): On the "first floor" there's a trap with which you can drop stones or other things down on unliked guests, the pot comes originally from fabuland i think, i love this thing: In the same floor there is a second trap, if you pull the bar, the door opens: We move on to the tower itself (did i mention it's really high?), on the ground level there's the place for the witch to do her spells: The wall is a secret door, which reveals a skeleton when turned over: on the next level there is this little thingy, first it only seems like a barrel.... ...but when you pull the two 1x4 tiles on the back, a skull is being revealed, scary, huh : I don't really understand what this is for but i assume it's a telescope to watch and observate the dragons, i do find that a bit senseless since there haven't been telescopes in medieval times (or have there been): The back of the tower with the prison and the room for the treasure chest: The prison opened. It's secured with a chain, which i like very much cause you really can lock it with that: Treasure chest: From the highest peak we now go down to the very ground level, at the back of the castle there is another secret wall-door, flanked by two shields: At the back half of the inside there is the throne hall for the Bat Lord, with a nice warm fireplace in the back (this is, where the secret door is placed): The second half is pretty empty, except for these two baskets. i don't know exactly what they are for, but i ike the idea for using them as water places for the horses: One thing that might be a bit stupid is that 2 of the 4 side entrances do not have doors, so they are open and a guard would have to stand there the whole day. You can see it in his face he isn't very happy with that : That was my last review of the sets i got the last weeks, but i'm looking forward to make much more in the future. Overall this is a pretty good set, i don't know any other one with so much details and playability. The minus point is, as already said, that it is too open on the sides, but that can be solved easily with a bit of modding. Also i must say, this set isn't that much <insert that tiresome argument> as many might have thought, though the design is a bit unconventional, but exactly that's what i like most about it. All in all it gets a 9/10 for me hope you enjoyed the reading and the pictures, can't wait to see your response. Edit: Oops, i forgot to put one figure of the fright knight faction on the photo, but it's the one in the last picture.
21. I finally discovered the community part of the board now, so here's a picture of me drumming a bit (or at least trying) at my uncle's house:
22. That's quite funny, cause a lot of people thought that before, even some on music themed boards. Glad i could clear that up
23. I agree with both of you. First, i have to add, that a few of the stickers were a bit annoying as it comes to put them on espacially the ones on the helicopter, where you have to put them on round parts. But i didn't really see this at a bad point, i really can live with it. Second, it was a very hard decision, believe it or not, on which new set to buy, cause i got a huge 2008 set-wantlist. I guess it'll take some time before i can get most of the other sets i want
24. I think it looks good on the real set. I thought, the darker glass might be good on the ground level so the rescued guy has it nice and dark in there
25. I don't know really. In which country do you live? I haven't been to my local stores for a while now, so i don't know if they have it there, but maybe i'll find some time tomorrow to check it out.
